This celebration beat the one in NYC, hands down. Wylie, the Walleye, was born in 1997 and made of simply paper mache. They have sinced upgraded. Port Clinton is the "Walleye Capital of the World," so it is only fitting that they drop a colorful LED lit, 20-foot, 600-pound walleye, named Wylie Jr., from the sky at the stroke of midnight, with a spectacular FIREWORKS show soon thereafter. As mentioned, the event is free and kicks off with a kids party from 4p to 6p, kids walleye drop at 6p, games and the "touch a truck" event, where kids can see public safety vehicles. They also have a raffle with a chance to win some cool prizes. And for those 21 and up, they have a "Bar Swim" that features heated charter buses that take you to bars around town. Keep in mind that this event occurs off season so a few places in the town my be closed for the season. A few restaurants that I eyed fell in that category. If you are just going to watch the Walleye Drop then I recommend getting there around 11PM. It gets very cold out there and there is no need to freeze for an extended period. We ended up getting there around 9PM and eating/drinking at one of the restaurants/bars across the street. They also have some food trucks there if you want to go that route. The popcorn store is open through the night to satisfy your popcorn fix. A DJ is jamming the night away with the hottest tunes. He was playing when we arrived there at 9. After we ate, we took on the cold and danced like it was 1999. They have a guy that was selling blinky things, but I recommend bringing your own NYE garb if you want a wider selection. We were fortunate enough that we did not have to drive there. Our hotel had a complimentary shuttle that dropped off and picked up party goers. If you are staying at hotel you may want to check if they offer a shuttle. This Walleye is awesome. It is great family fun. definitely a bucket list must do. So, remember dress warm. It gets very cold out there and plan your arrival with the cold in mind. You may also want to plan your parking if you are driving. They shut down some of the road when the party ends about 1210.

Everyone has to bring a firework of some kind.. roman candle, mortar... rocket So after boating in Lake Erie we stopped by Motor City... my first time there, it is way in the back of a mostly vacant discount mall. Their store is huge with a overwhelming selection.... way more that the tents that pop up all over town. One of the guys with us said their prices were a lot less than other places. They are open year round and the staff was very helpful. All I know is we walked out of there with a whole lot of fire and noise in our bags. A few nights later on the 4th, the party was awesome. Fortunately there was a SFL there (sober fireworks lighter) and we all sat back and enjoyed a good 45 minute display of 35 or so of the best colorful, loud, bright, crackling fireworks money can buy......

Returning from a trip from Lansing, I saw billboards for fireworks. I originally saw billboards for…read moreanother shop but as I was driving south on Rt. 23, this BIG UNCLE SAM STATUE happened to be the first thing I saw so we decided to stop in for a quick purchase. Bought a couple bricks of firecrackers. They had a pretty good selection of fireworks, far better than the temporary roadside "container" type firework stops that I'm used to. It's a week after July 4th and I'm not sure how many opportunities I'll have to light some firecrackers, but at least I'm prepared now.

It's a beautiful park with plenty of activities. Whether it be American football or soccer Or…read morefrisbee, there is always some activity going on. You have tons of runners also running thru the trails. It has a nice playground also for children to enjoy themselves. I was walking thru the trails also on a beautiful fall afternoon last month with the fall foliage in full effect. It was a beautiful sight with yellow and orange shades along with greenery that was coming toward the end of season. It was a very refreshing walk as I was making my way to a nearby sushi restaurant. The breeze was a little cooler and the temperature was around 60 degrees. A beautiful autumn day.

The assistant manager sent her employee a message while he was outside of work with his family,…read moreasking him for meth... and when the manager was informed of this, he told us that her husband sent the text from her phone which is a lie because her phone was with her at work at the time the message was sent. nothing was done about it and then they let the employee go the following day b/c there was a "lack of work". the fact that they would allow such behavior at a place of business is downright disgusting.
