    12oz 30, day-aged ribeye.
    Casey C.

Good, but not great. (The 30 day ribeye was much better than the 50 day). Not sure it was worth the price, as they were very thin and overcooked. Wait staff was helpful, but slow. Overall, not a horrible experience, but not sure we'd revisit.

8 oz ribeye, peppercorn sauce, onion loaf, fries, & a wedge salad

A great steakhouse to come and have a burger, salmon, fish & chips, or a nicely cooked steak. My party enjoyed all of the above on our first night in Edinburgh. We walked in from the cold on a Monday evening and were promptly seated in a large, comfy booth. The booths that run along the back facing an open kitchen are a little bright, so if you're looking for an ambiance with dim settings, you might want to sit elsewhere... the atmosphere "feels" fancy but it's not stuffy and actually very casual. In addition to the main entrees I mentioned, we also shared the cheesy garlic bread and sharing board, which is basically an appetizer sampler. The duck wings were surprisingly good (I generally don't like duck)! For my main entree, I had the 8 oz ribeye. The steaks all come with a wedge salad, onion loaf, fries, grilled tomato, and your choice of steak sauce (I chose peppercorn) and dressing for the wedge (Stilton blue cheese - always!). This was a GREAT tasting steak. And for 23 quid, it's a steal at a steakhouse. They also have a kids menu which offers 2 courses for 6.95 or 3 for 7.95. My little one just had 2 and got the chicken lollipops (chicken nuggets - which was really quite good) w/ fries & coleslaw and dessert (ice cream). Service was prompt and very friendly. Total for 2 starters, 5 entrees (including one kid's meal), a moderately priced bottle of wine, 2 beers, 2 desserts - 165 pounds BEFORE tip. Can't complain at all...

Fancy looking restaurant. We tried to have dinner here 2 nights in a row but they were booked until 10pm. That's when we decided to make reservations. The menu is very diverse and the food tasted great. Even when one of us ordered something what happened to have pork on it, they took it with no hesitation and came back with a new plate. Child friendly also

We had an amazing dinner tonight (May go back again before we leave). We had calamari, shrimp scampi, steak, sea bass, salmon, wine & beer. Everything was excellent. More so my kid is deathly allergic to 6 allergens. They handled it with no hesitation & she's had the best meal our whole trip here. Excellent place to visit. Please try them!!!

Notice it's empty..buyer be ware. YMMV!

We started with the soup of the day which was lentil. It was amazing. Full and rich and flavorful. Next the Haggis Wellington which on this trip I have become a fan. This was the best of the trip. Then the Venison tenderloin and wowo. What a hit. A whole lobster fresh and tasty. And before I forget a simple dinner salad with the most delicate and lovely dressing. A hit for anything you desire. There is an outdoor space that sits on the West Bow bend of Grassmarket, but nothing was set up for that when we were there for a late lunch. Perhaps it's a seasonal thing. All first impressions aside, it turned out to be a very good lunch. We were greeted immediately upon entering. We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation. You will definitely need one here during peak times. The service was warm & friendly. Artur was very helpful in answering all of our questions. The lunch menu is limited, but you can also order from the higher priced dinner menu as well. I was mostly amazed by the fact that you get complimentary oysters delivered to your table. My husband is not a seafood fan, so I was fortunate enough to enjoy both of them. These are large & tasty Pacific oysters grown at a farm in Loch Fyne. Delicious! It was such a great starter. I couldn't pass up the half kilo pot (lunch portion) of steamed mussels. These are Scottish rope-grown mussels. I should have ordered a kilo. They were so addicting. The white wine sauce with shallots was perfect. However, I did have a difficult time deciding which sauce to choose. The whisky with smoked bacon also sounded amazing. If I had to say anything negative, it would be to maybe add more bread to soak up the sauce. I probably could have asked for more, but I didn't. That's on me. I really wanted to return to try the Surf & Turf. We just didn't have enough time to do it all. I would go back in a heartbeat. It ended up being a great find. A great experience!

Walking into Wildfire, the brick and wood of the restaurant exude a wonderful energy and ambiance. We were greeted and shown to a table near the window and in the corner. We were close to the people at the next table, bit it offered an opportunity to strike up a conversation. The wine list was extensive, we chose a cider and the porter. They were both more than satisfactory. My wife and I shared the smoked salmon starter that was very good. It was lightly smoked, that brought out both the flavor of the fish, and enhanced it. The fish was moist and tender. Our main dishes included both the seabass and the combo mussels with prawns. The latter was the better choice with very sweet and tender mussels and an excellent sauce. The seabass was lightly pan fried and my wife really liked her selection. For dessert, we had the cheese platter and toffee cake with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. The coffee and tea completed our meal wonderfully. I recommend this restaurant highly.

The meal was outstanding. For a casual dining experience. This is a wonderful option. The haggis was a great version and the mash is lovely. Slightly creamy with the added flavors make it more than basic mash. The bacon and onion was not overpowering and complimented the haggis wonderfully. The lamb was perfect, fell off the bone with a deep rich sauce. The scotch bonnet added flavor without a lot of heat. The broccoli was perfectly steamed and still crispy. Everything was fresh and bright and balanced. We fully loved the entire experience!

Sunday Roast: All the standards, but fancy. The really differentiator was the beef, which seem aged and very high quality. Great tender texture and nice gravy to go with it. Though a wee bit small portion of meat. The veggies were cooked very nicely with a lot of freshness and textures, not mushy like some pubs serve. The only weird thing is that the yorkshire pudding seemed to be deep fried. Added an overly crispy texture which as kinda weird; I prefer traditionally baked. Toffee Apple Pudding: More like a bread pudding than a sticky pudding. Filled with great flavor and a few nice baked apples bit on top. Great toffee sauce and ice cream to round it out. Blackberry & Lime Soda: So much better than those highly sugared sodas you get at the store. Definitely tasted the fresh fruit and artisanal methods.
