Paolo and his team did work on all the hardwood floors in our house right before we moved in. Our floors were in terrible shape before Paolo came in --there were pet stains, the gloss coat had worn away after 60 years of wear on the floors and there were several broken boards that needed to be replaced. Paolo did an amazing job, even guiding us on what stain we needed to pick in order to cover up all the pet stains. The work was all done within one week (~1800 sqft of floor) and they were dry and ready for moving day. We contacted Paolo when we closed and gave him a two week window in which to finish the work before we needed to move in and the team worked all day to get it done. The floors look fabulous. We did have to touch up the paint on the baseboards, trim, and stair risers when they were done but we needed to repaint anyway and Paolo was very up front about us needing to paint before we hired him. Overall, we're very happy with our floors and the work that Paolo and his team did. At this point we can honestly say that the floors have stood up to three years of two humans, a dog, a cat, and lots of heavy furniture being moved around. read more

Paulo and his team at Millena flooring are outstanding! Paulo was incredibly patient and thoughtful in guiding us as to what flooring choices made most sense in our space. That included types of wood to consider, orientation of the flooring in the space, options for finishing the floors, and guidance around the aesthetics of wood flooring in general and in our particular space. They were very thoughtful in both the preparation for the installation and in the installation itself. From the outset Paulo was straightforward and honest, and highly communicative about what he saw in our house, what would need to be done and how, and how the overall flooring project would come together. For a couple of anxious first-time homeowners (who nonetheless have high expectations) this was really helpful, and set our minds at ease about what felt like a fairly costly adventure in replacing a major feature of the house. Paulo came in right at his quoted estimate for the cost of the work. His estimate was competitive relative to other highly-rated Yelp and Home Advisor flooring companies, and he was detailed and transparent in explaining how the costs broke down in materials and labor. What really blew me away was Paulo's willingness to help me accomplish some things at the house myself before he started his work - by connecting me with a member of his team (Wesley - who is AMAZING) and who had the time and ability to assist me in some of the DIY prep work I wanted to do. That was an amazing level of support from Millena, and I was surprised and impressed that they'd think to do that. We couldn't be happier with the guidance we got from them, and with the quality of the materials and workmanship they put into our house. We had the entire first floor redone, with them tearing out three old floors, laying down new subfloor, and installing 3 1/4 inch white oak -- which looks absolutely great! They also refinished our second floor, and brought those tired floors to the point of looking brand new. Contracted to do hardwood floors throughout the house and stairs. Nicks and splits in some flooring, spots of glue left on the flooring, nicks and even holes in the drywall above the baseboards (we replaced the baseboards ourselves with higher baseboards to cover all the holes), squeaky stairs, duplicate billing for some materials (resolved), extra billing by Millena to correct damage they caused. Chipped and torn bathroom vinyl floor at entry into the room. Did not replace doors they removed to install the new floor. No response to emails sent in an attempt to resolve final issues. A project we saved up for and were really looking forward was very stressful and hugely disappointing. read more

Please stay away from this business. I understand that my review appears to be the outlier on Yelp, but I hope that this information can help protect one person and their home. My husband and I bought a house last winter, and started a full renovation project. We hired Paulo to refinish and re-stain existing hardwood floors, and install new hardwood in the one room. He did a great job, and we were pleased. When he told us that he also did other work - painting and tile installation - we happily got a quote, as we trusted him and his work. We hired him to paint the entire house, and to install tile in two bathrooms. It was the biggest mistake we have ever, ever made. Paulo did not do the work himself, and did not check in on the work either. On several occasions, he was not even aware of who was working at our house (we had not moved in yet so were not always there). The tile installation was completely botched - so much so that one of the bathrooms had to be completely taken apart and started over (the second time was still sloppy and unprofessional). The paint job - it was an awful, amateur job. There was wall paint on the ceiling and trim, sloppy, visible brush strokes, roller lines on the ceiling, walls and trim missing second coats, doors left unpainted, and others painted the wrong color. The worst part was - the painters got paint ALL OVER the new floors that Paulo had just refinished! They must not have used any drop cloths at all - and we were not able to check in on them all the time, since we were not living in the home yet. Drawing Paulo's attention to the errors and fixing them turned in to quite a drawn out ordeal. He initially refused to accept the extent of the damages ( but did attempt to fix tile). He finally agreed to rebuff the floors to remove the paint, but in doing so he did not properly remove the paint before, and therefore buffed and polyurethaned the paint into the floor! This time around, he also left polyurethane stains on the wood trim, and left polyurethane bubbles all over the floors. The fact that he buffed the paint into the floors and thought he had solved the problem, was alone enough to demonstrate the lack of professional knowledge Paulo really did have. Overall, after working with him for months, his dishonesty, lack of knowledge, lack of attention to detail, push to rush work, and willingness to take advantage of people was more than apparent. The damage to our house was/continues to be extensive, and in the end we ended up coming to a monetary settlement to avoid court. I would never, never recommend this company to anyone! read more

They did our hardwood floors about a year ago- installation and finishing. Initially communication was good, and he arrived timely to provide a quote- and it was on budget which was good. I found communication to be tough the week leading up to the work. I was a bit frustrated because he told me we could look at different color stains once the wood was in, but I had to ask to see the stains. Once it was done the floors looked great- there was one minor nick that I told him about but no one ever came out to fix- luckily it's covered by a rug. What was most frustrating is that they broke our dining room chandelier, and didn't even tell me about- I had to see it when I walked into the house. After some back and forth, he agreed to take it off our bill- but it shouldn't have been that difficult. Overall they do great work on floors, but communication and transparency was just tough. read more

I was in a real bind, our contractors flooring guy pushed us out 6 weeks from the promised date. This change was going to just blow up the schedule we had with our painter and electrician. Prompt response and amazing customer service. I received a call back the same day and Paolo came out the next day for an estimate. We then set a date for within a month and they delivered on their promise. Extremely professional and efficient. They refurbished hardwood floors in four rooms and even refurbished the wood (that was so worn and discolored that it didn't match the rest of the room) in one room to match the stain of the rest of the wood in that room. I don't know how much more I can add to what has already been said. This is one of the easiest and best service experiences I have had in some time. Paulo returned our initial call promptly, SHOWED UP and provided a reasonable quote and performed the work as scheduled. We had them refinish our wide plank floors in our 100 year old house, probably the first time they had ever been done, and they look absolutely like new. There was not a spec of dust or debris left behind. I wish I had taken before and after pics, but trust what you can see in the other reviews. We will absolutely use Millena again. read more
