We can't imagine a visit to SoCal without stopping and enjoying a wonderful dinner at Mille Fleurs in Rancho Santa Fe. Sean, our server, has helped us navigate the menu and wine list for many years. We love sitting out in the magical court yard while savoring our delicious meals. The twinkle lights in the trees, the soft sound of the water fountain, and the impeccable service make every year's visit memorable and the growing excitement of the next year's visit.

I'm going to be honest with this review which may look different than the reviews that I've read on Yelp. We chose Mille Fleurs to celebrate a friend's 90th birthday because he loves the piano bar and live singer, and for that purpose, it absolutely delivered. This alone made the night worth it. The setting is refined and elegant, with warm (dim) lighting, crisp white linens to create an unmistakably upscale, "special occasion" atmosphere. Romantic. Classic charm. (Think: Fancy pants style) I imagine that people have made some beautiful memories there. That said, Mille Fleurs leans hard into the fancy, fine-dining vibe. While I can appreciate that some people might be looking for that high-end experience, I wouldn't come here with small kids or a group of girlfriends planning to laugh over cocktails. The space feels too cramped for that, and It seems that everyone can hear each other's conversations. I did notice that "regulars" were greeted warmly by the host/management while others were barely acknowledged (if at all), which you can probably interpret a few different ways. The drinks were beauuuuutifully presented but shockingly overpriced, and service, while polite, wasn't particularly quick or friendly. One big problem : The bathrooms were dim, unkept, and felt out of place in such an elegant space. I feel like if you're going to shoot for an ambience of elegance, you've gotta make sure that the paper towels are always filled, and the bathroom stalls lock. Parking in the neighborhood was another inconvenience. TLDR: If you're craving an upscale, old-school French dining experience, Mille Fleurs delivers , but don't expect it to feel casual or welcoming.

This is an old-school restaurant tucked in the heart of RSF that has been there for years. Our party of 8 was greeted by many attentive waiters and staff, along with kisses and hugs welcoming us from the owner. We had a back room to ourselves and had incredible service. The decor is older, but it fit the vibe and we loved it. We had a bit of everything to eat and it was all delicious. We started with caviar, escargot, fresh bread and beet salads and entrees included miso black cod, steaks and French onion soup. We had excellent wine and champagne service and anyone that needed a cocktail was catered to perfectly. Timing seemed a bit off with items taking a while in the kitchen, but that was fine because our group was a blast. However, we were anxious to finish our meal so we could get to karaoke that started in the bar attached. It was a wonderful and special night!

We came here to celebrate a much needed date night. I picked Mille Fleurs because of their well thought out menu, I knew we wouldn't be disappointed. The service was next level. I just want to thank the staff for such an amazing experience. We often go out to eat and are left with such disappointment and mediocre service and it was nice to experience a place that truly cares about their customers. From the moment we walked in and were greeted and walked to our table, to our awesome server, bussers, everyone seemed happy to be there and give you a great dining experience. If you're looking for really great quality food and an overall great experience this is the place! Thank you Mille Fleurs!

Went to dinner here last night- fantastic food and service. I ate the sea bass and my partner the 1855 filet. While this seems odd, these were some of the best potatoes I have ever had! The staff were so welcoming and the cute old feel of the restaurant was really nice. Felt like a fabulous dinner in someone's amazing Racho Home. The restaurant has been there for almost 40 years and is the perfect place to celebrate! Lastly, parking is super easy and free on the street so that's a huge plus! Highly recommend!

We had a lovely time here. However, while the service is impeccable and the atmosphere is absolutely lovely, the food just doesn't justify the cost. Our dinner for two of 2 plates of bread, 2 apps, 2 entrees, a bottle of wine, a cappuccino, a desert, and a 20% tip was just shy of $300. Unfortunately, I think our money would have better spent at a nice steakhouse. Again, I can't stress the quality of the service enough. Relaxed but attentive, personal, and warm. The atmosphere was picturesque and romantic-- complete w a beautiful tile fresco fountain and gorgeous tree, coupled w lights made for a beautiful setting. But the food... the escargot was a bit overcooked in my opinion (rubbery texture), the crudo was absolutely overwhelmed by the avocado (which, although perfectly ripe, wasn't seasoned at all) in taste and quantity, my steak was ... fine, and the creme brûlée trio did not feel fresh. It was room temp at best and the individual teeny tiny portions made it really hard to get everything out. The bread was just meh. Overall: pleasant evening but way too expensive for what you're getting.

Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 This cute little French restaurant is a hidden gem of Rancho Santa Fe in my opinion. First time trying it for dinner and it was excellent ! The service is so attentive. I never had to wait for someone to wander by if I needed anything, and we were always asked if we enjoyed our food. All the food was perfectly portioned - we left feeling full but not stuffed AND had room for dessert ! The best course, in my opinion, was the miso cod. The fish melts in your mouth, and the sauce is smooth, light, and creamy Desserts came out beautiful and they even gave us a couple truffles (not pictured) on our way out. In addition, they help us into our chairs, placed our napkins on our laps, and took our coats once we arrived! The restaurant was comfortably warm; on a cold day, I was good, without my jacket, wearing a sleeveless top. Can't wait to be back ! A shoutout to Marco and Sid for serving us tonight.

Went here for a random date night and had a nice experience. Was impressed by the level of service. Interior is cute. The food was really good, particularly the main courses - we had the duck and the sea bass. My partners dessert, the strawberry charlotte, was great but I was a little underwhelmed with the chocolate marquis. The kumquat sauce that came with it was good but really overpowered the chocolate. Would come back.

(editing to add this is a French-owned and Black-owned business, in case folks are looking!)…read more I usually come here when I'm doing errands on Cedros - and I usually just want to get my français on and order a café crème and a croissant. But today I needed a little extra je ne sais quoi because my morning was annoying, so I decided to splurge on lunch and not just a pastry here. I asked Steve, the (très beau et gentille!) co-owner what the quiche of the day was. There were two: one with jambon (ham) and one with épinards et fromage de chèvre (spinach and goat cheese). When I hesitated, he told me that the spinach one was amazing. Even though it's $20 for a quiche plate, I decided to go for it. I thought I was going to get a sad little quiche slice for that amount and might regret it. But OMG, it was more than worth it! Already they have a lovely patio on this pretty street in this fancy design district. But it was also a HUGE and exceptionally savory rectangular slice, alongside a DELECTEABLE petite salade. I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel. I don't want to spend that much for lunch every day - but I'll be back!

First of all, they told him they only had decaf and were out of espresso, coffee beans! WHAAAT!????? (so I'm making coffee at home right now) Argh. Secondly, he got 4 pastries, and seemed to think they MAY have 'fresh' croissants in the back, but couldn't remember if they grabbed the other pastries from the display or not. Said there were about 4 or 5 workers, but they looked completely unprepared for the day. When he got home and we opened the pastry box, everything looked half baked. The croissant was more like bread - not crispy or flaky or even golden brown, and the others didn't look completely baked either. We also ordered a Quiche Lorraine plate. That was decent, but very blond (not beautifully browned as it should be). It was so strange that on such an important day they would be completely unprepared- no coffee, old baked goods and did you see my display pics? It's like they closed the shop yesterday, didn't clean anything out, didn't organize and just left it. The signs were knocked over, the trays weren't straightened and like I said, it looked like they had a huge rush at 6:30 AM and were already sold out - which is highly unlikely. Wow, did they lose their baker? Is the boss out of town and teens are running it? Who knows ... but I sure won't be back. I expect high quality French cuisine, and pastries (per the name and reputation). Don't waist your time getting the moms anything here today. Sad.

The food absolutely held up. I ordered a decently sized steak and it was genuinely delicious. Well cooked, flavorful, and satisfying. The menu leans into classic, Italian-leaning comfort food, and it does that lane well. The owner was present during our visit and was very kind and welcoming, which deserves real kudos. The staff was also attentive and on top of things throughout the meal. Service was not an issue at all. Where this stops short of five stars for me is the indoor dining experience. Even with a reservation, the seating felt very tight. Close enough that I could hear every single detail of the conversation happening at the table next to us. No judgment on them, but I did not need to be spiritually invited into their dinner party. Because it was a cool evening, outdoor seating wasn't really an option, which made the cramped indoor space more noticeable. This might be something to keep in mind during colder months. I could see this place being much more enjoyable when the patio is in play. That said, I did enjoy myself, and I'm not disappointed. I just think the combination of price point, cozy-but-tight seating, and comfort-food-forward menu didn't quite push it into five-star territory for me. And to be fair, I'm generally stingy with five stars. Four stars feels right. Beautiful space, kind ownership, attentive staff, and good food.
