This dog park is located near the Falls of Neuse area. The park is just okay. There isn't much to brag about here. My dog sniffed around a bit and ran a bit and was ready to go. There are better parks closer to home. Will I visit again? I would not go out of my way but may give it another try if I'm on this side of town. Entering the small park it looks like a few things are under construction under the shelter before entering the park. read more

Great dog park! A lot of friendly dogs and owners. Even some agility-type structures.

Only GOD loves you more than your DOG! #ReflectDogs Love & Forgiveness This is an absolutely awesome dog park!! It's a little bit of a walk up through the trees to get back here to it but once you're in here it is unbelievable! Half of the dog park is just nothing but natural for hysteria and it is a very large area. The other half is just wide open spaces with about five or six or seven very nice group seating areas including multiple picnic benches. They have a very nice shade structure for you to sit under as well as a community billboard. There is a very nice water station and quite a few poop bag dispensers with trash cans. read more

We loved it! We went this past Saturday for the Dog Pawty to celebrate the newly remodeled dog park. It was great! Some vendors were out for the fun like Unleashed, Beneful and Shiloh Animal Hospital. The park has fresh mulch, lots of seating, shaded areas, fun stuff for the dogs like a fire hydrant that sprays water and water fountains for the pups and humans. Plus it seems like responsible pet owners were out and about picking up after their pets. Love responsible pet owners! It was a great time and I wish this park was closer to where we live but we'll probably still make the trek out there because our dog loved the park and we did too. Great job with the remodel. Saw the before pictures and I'm impressed! read more

While it is a great space and layout, as any others noted there are huge issues here. One is (as noted many times by others) the clique mentality here of the "long lived regulars" who think their dogs can do no wrong. One of the dogs who is a regular around 11 am-2 pm (worst time to come) bit my arm through layers of clothes and broke skin. I was trying to get my dog away from hers as it was growling and about to attack my puppy. When I told her - ZERO apology and zero offers for proof of shots. My dog was also attacked for trying to play with two "regulars" - pinned and TRAUMATIZED. Naturally, my dog is petrified of the dogs who did this. One of the owners then tried multiple times to come up to us with treats and "train" my dog to become used to hers post attack - not happening. My trainer was livid to hear this as it scares to crap out of my dog and only builds reactivity. My dog has reason to be scared, but they of course blamed my dog due to their herd mentality group. Additionally, way too many people bring kids and allow them to run around, shoot dogs w water guns or poke them w sticks. As an owner of herding dogs (one a rescue with awful experiences with kids in the past so naturally very afraid of them), this is a nightmare in real time. Parents do not watch their kids here and the regulars see it as a social clique and not a place they should watch their dogs. They will try to blame newer dogs for reacting naturally to the trauma around them as opposed to the environment. It can be good very early am (7 am) and 4 pm-5, but even then, there are many other amazing parks my dogs have had zero problems at. The culture at this park is toxic. read more

Nice park but I always wonder why they put a little park in the back and the big park in the front

I thought this park was really nice and well kept. Lots of space for the large dogs to roam around in with ample shade and plenty of water buckets. There are lots of benches and tables for people to sit at and even a small gated off area in case you want to eat while you watch your dog play. The park itself was very nice, however, my dog was bitten by a dog that is apparently a regular at the park, which has also bitten another dog in the past. I will not be returning to this park, because I don't want to run into this dog again. read more

I first knew of this dog park in '07 for a pug meetup (meetup.com). The park is broken up into two sections -small dog play area -big dog play area If you have an old dog or one that does not play rough - they can hang out in the small dog section. I have a lab/beagle mix and although he is in between size of what small and big dog should be -he is a wuss. So, I throw him in with the little dogs (hehe). The dog park is kept extremely clean and is located within the Millbrook Exchange Park. read more

A great little dog park right down the street! I traveled to Millbrook Dog Park this evening with my new pup Louie in tow, looking to burn some of my pup's energy before bedtime. The park is part of a much bigger park with tennis and basketball courts, a pool, playground and even a short wooded trail. The dog park itself consists of an area for small dogs and one for the larger dogs, separated by a picnic shelter area in the middle. We spent a majority of our time in the small dog area. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was! No poo piles or random trash! There were a TON of discarded tennis balls which Louie really enjoyed, and a couple of buckets of water. I did notice the larger dog area also had a pool (we wandered over to the big dog area for a few minutes), but the water looked pretty dirty so I didn't let him play in it. The dogs in the small dog area were well behaved and playful, with their owners keeping a close eye on them. Louie was a bit hesitant to play around them at first, but eventually she warmed up to them! If there was one thing I had an issue with was the fact that there was a small gap in the gate of the small dog area. It wouldn't be an issue for the big dog area, but it was plenty of space for my 5lb poodle to squeeze through. Luckily the park is double gated so he couldn't get through the second gate, though it's definitely something that needs to be fixed in the future. All in all I cant wait to come back with Louie. He seemed to have a great time and we can't wait to do some more exploring! read more

Millbrook Exchange Dog Park - Love the shorter trees the pups can climb! - Dog Parks Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

A beautiful pre-spring day, so Milo & I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather & head out to the dog park. Everyone else in the area must have to! I love how the park is separated between large dogs & small ones. Of course, the smaller dog area didn't have as much space as the larger dog lot. Milo & I walked in & he was immediately (& rather roughly) greeted by about five other dogs. He didn't know what to make of all this. Their owners didn't do anything, so I picked Milo up & brushed him off. Sadly, due to rain & snow the past couple of weeks, the landscaping/grounds were in awful shape. I had mud all over my sweatpants & Milo had mud & leaves all on him. So I'm a little disappointed that our first visit went like this. We ended up walking around the trails & park & Milo was just as happy with this plan. :D read more

Stopped by the Millbrook Dog Park while traveling North for the holidays. It was mid morning on a Wednesday but there were still a handful of other dogs there. The fenced area is very large and just a short walk from the parking lot which is nice. It seems like they'd had a lot of rain lately and despite the wood-chips that we're scattered throughout the center of the park, it was still extremely muddy. I guess that's not something that you can always control though. Overall, great dog park and I would go again if ever in the area. read more

My dog loves to go here. Met some very friendly people and very sweet dogs. There are two kiddie pools in the large dog area where your dogs can lounge or run through. There are also a lot of buckets for water and a hose to clean the pools, fill the buckets or just hose your dog off. They have lots of chairs and several picnic tables, although bringing food isn't allowed. They have several trash cans for waste disposal and a double enter gate system. I haven't been over in the small dog area, so my review is only on the big dog side. read more

Personally, I don't like dog parks. They are full of mostly irritating people with odd quirks. I prefer my backyard or the numerous areas in the Triangle that you can let your dog run free. Still, the idea is excellent: people bring their dogs, let them run around and get a break from the cooped up apartments where they can play with other dogs and the owners can chat. It's a really great community service. In theory, it's great. In practice, however, it's not. Millbrook does a good job of offering a great public access park and the dog park is a wonderful addition. That being said, you generally run into three types of people here, and I haven't enjoyed any of them. 1) The Dog Expert: This guy comes here all the time. His dog is relatively well-behaved, but it's probably a breed thing because he spends his whole time watching other dogs and making comments rather than taking interest in his own pet. Any behavioral variation will result in this guy suggesting a training tip or assuming the dog was a rescue or abused. Avoid this guy. 2) The Stickler: This person likes to make sure the rules are always enforced. Small dogs in the small section, large dogs in the large section, period! Pick up that poop, fill the water, don't let your dog run towards the gate, etc... 3) The "I shouldn't have gotten this breed" Slacker: This person probably got a pit-bull or some other large breed dog just because. Since their dog is either too big or too questionable to other dogs (and owners), it's socially awkward. The owner, however, doesn't care because they just want a break from walking the damn thing. Conversations are generally pretty banal. No matter what, you will run into one or more of these people in the dog park. Beware. read more

This is one of my favorite dog parks to visit. Why? Let me count the ways: 1) It's free. Unlike the dog park closest to my house (Cary Dog Park), this facility is free and welcomes all dogs and sizes. Hence, when I go there, no matter what time, there is usually other dogs there for my pups to play with. 2) Water buckets everywhere. Not only are these water buckets good for quenching the thirst of your overactive dog, they also double as an occasional tool used to stop two dogs who are in disaggreement with each other ;-) Although, I have to admit that half the time I see this method used, the dog owners are often the ones that get wet when an overzealous helper steps in. 3) small doggie pool. for the dogs that wanna chill from the scorching summer sun. 4) The shade. There's plenty of trees to act as a shade for those of us not romping in the park with our four-legged buddies. The cons...all dog parks have cons and these are the same cons you'll find in other dog parks: a) Meticulously clean dog owners. It's a dog park. Dogs jump at you. Don't wear white or any nice things which will upset you if a dog happens to run you over. b) Scaredy-cat dog owners. Dogs play rough. They tumble around and make a lot of noise. Unless it's a dog fight, there's no reason to worry. Your dog is not a delicate flower. c) Inattentive dog owners. Just because you brought your dog to the park, doesn't mean you can ignore your dog for the rest of your stay. Please always be aware of where your dog is! d) Pests--no, not the two legged kind. There has been incidents of snake bites or dogs chasing (and catching and killing, unfortunately) small wildlife in the area such as squirrels. Overall, however, this park is fun and energetic. My dogs love it and I'll definitely keep taking them back. read more

Millbrook (Exchange) Dog Park is a part of the over all Exchange Park community facility, so it is open to public, and free. This park is pretty much like every other dog parks around, you have a small breed area, and larger breed area, and both fenced off separately. There are plenty of green trees and shades around this area, so even during the blistering summer heat, your mutts won't suffer from heat stroke, which I tell you from first-hand experience can be quite fatal to your four-legged friends! A few drawbacks from the fact that it is a free public park: 1. Even though the dog park is (self)maintained by the public, not every owners or visitors have the same courtesy when it comes to cleaning after your pets. I watch every step I take here. 2. I have two small breed dogs, and sometimes they are not so much around; my dogs are very sociable, so they will always looking at the big dogs running around in their playground, and wanted to join in. I understand the inherit issue mixing my small ones with the bigger crowd, and I always keep my eyes on mine at all time. Some other owners may not be so diligent. read more

I love this dog park and take my overactive lab pup here at least 2-3 times a week. It is off leash and has picnic tables for people to sit, plenty of water, a kiddie pool and lots of wood chips for the dogs :) On the weekends sometimes there are up to 30 dogs at one time, it can be hilarious to watch them interact. My dog is extremely friendly and loves to run and play. After about an hour of the dog park he naps for the majority of the day which is wonderful for me :) Unfortunately often times people with good intentions but poor dog skills will bring their aggressive or frightened dogs into this environment and a snarling match will ensue. I recommend that if you bring your dog they have had some socialization prior to their first visit otherwise it could be overwhelming. I've met some great people here and the park is supplied by donors and run by volunteers. For my dog this place is heaven :) read more

This is one the nicest and cleanest dog parks I have visited in the area, of which there really arents many. The areas are very spacious and open for both the large breed and small breed dogs with fences that are more than high enough so no one can escape. There are buckets for water provided and the water is actually cool and not luke warm ground water. There are even toys, I dunno if they were provided or left behind but people are respectful and leave them there so if you lose your dogs fav toy 9 times out of 10 it'll be there when you return. There are also alot of chair for seating for two legged friends :D and picnic tables in shaded areas. The only downside is that it does get crowded, but I think thats becasue of lack of overall dog parks in Raleigh so im sure they all get crowded. xoxo read more

When you're on a road trip with your dogs you have to find places like this to wear them out. After all, they're with you for every single moment. They need a break from human interaction to play with other dogs. Heck, I needed a moment to play with other puppies. This park is interesting. Raleigh is a city of trees so I found this to be no surprise that we weren't in one big open field. For hot summer days, the trees of Raleigh come in handy. Just like any park, there's a separate big and little dog area. I didn't get to the big dog side but that side looked a lot cooler to be. Those dogs were getting their work out in! I would say about 2/3 of the small dog area is useful as the back portion of it just didn't seem like an area I wanted to go (nothing bad... just lots of leaves). I liked that all the small dog owners were friendly. We sat around at the picnic table talking about our puppies sharing fun stories about our four-legged pooches. What a great way to bond... and a way to "cheat" on your own puppy by playing with all the other ones! read more

My Dachshund Terrier Chip and I greatly enjoy the park. It has 2 separate areas for small and big dogs, buckets of water, oops stations, picnic tables and chairs, and a nice covered pavilion between both entrances. Honestly this place was absolutely terrible for my poor puppy we entered and took baby steps cause this was the first dog park she's been to. Absolutely horrible experience for me, and my poor girl. 4 big dogs crowding her smelling her and very aggressive towards her and nobody was paying attention to their pet also looking at their phone. She's a medium dog but absolutely worse dog park I've been to. Do not recommend it. I recommend Oakwood park in downtown Raleigh, there is a place for smaller and big dogs, perfect place. Everyone pays attention to their dog and make sure every pet is safe. read more

My dog was traumatized here. It's a great park tho. But my dog hates this place hahahahaha ahah.

Fantastic place to take your pup to get some exercise and socialize with other dogs. There are two sections -- for big dogs, and little dogs as well. Plenty of room for the pups to play and run around, and lots of water buckets for when they're thirsty. One of the best dog parks in the area. read more

Loved this dog park but have had two very bad experiences with rude older women who can't control their dogs or their mouths. Won't be back.

I brought my dog here for the first time today (he's been a few times with his mom) but for a first timer, I was impressed! The park is extremely spacious, has a kiddie pool, and plenty of water buckets. There were a bunch of friendly dogs and the people were pretty friendly as well. Overall, I really enjoyed my day at the park and my dog loved it! read more

Great dog park! It can be a little muddy after it rains but it's a large spacious area that's well maintained.

We love this dog park, it is the best we have found in the triangle. People are friendly and the dogs seem to get along really well and have a good time. Best of all, they have a kiddie pool in the large dog area, which our dog loves. I love that the dirt is mostly covered with mulch, so our big mutt comes home much cleaner than he does from other parks. read more

So this is a great dog park. Best one in the area.. I just have one complaint.. the usual people who go here between 4-6 pm m-f. There's a huge group of people who will gather in their little clique group. They usually separate themselves from everyone else. I wouldn't have a problem with this other than that one day a lady from the group actually yelled over to me and requested for her dog not to play with mine. They were chasing each other around perfectly happy. My dog is the most loving dog anyone could ever meet. He doesn't have one vicious bone in his body. The reason for her saying this is cause she only wanted her dog to play with dogs that were in their little group. I think it's pretty pathetic as adults that we can't come to a dog park and associate with everyone and have a good time with our dogs. I have avoided the dog park during these hours because I just find it disrespectful that they do this. This isn't high school anymore, grow up a little. Other than that this dog park is great! I've met a lot of nice dog owners! A lot of the dogs are usually friendly. However, every now and again you meet a not so good dog and you end up leaving the dog park earlier than you thought. read more

The only reason I didn't give this park 5 stars is because I see a lot of people bringing very young children here. I wish they had the 12 & up rule that a lot of other dog parks follow because it's clearly a safety hazard when you have tons of dogs running around. read more

With an 8 month old red lab, and another medium sized black dog just over a year, I've been to dozens of dog parks all over the state. This is hands down the worst dog park I have ever been to. I don't understand why, but for some reason this park serves as a gathering point for bad owners who have raised bad dogs. I have given this park multiple attempts, only to face the fact that this is a poorly designed dog park for terrible owners to bring their mean-spirited animals. During what was my last visit to this park ever, my innocent wife-eyed lab had its throat bitten by roughly 6 separate dogs, as their owners tried to control their dogs with no success. The final straw was when my dog was laying to himself, and another dog ran up to him and bit his face hard, for no reason, resulting in my dog's cut eye. Later on, as I was leaving I noticed that two of the particularly mean dogs left with their owners, both wandering freely without being leashed. Aside from these issues, the park is literally structured to be a bowl filling up with water and mud which often lingers for an least 3-4 days before drying up. And for some reason the owners don't pick up after their dogs, resulting in dog poop everywhere. I'm just a normal dog owner with an aw some well behaved dog, and I will never bring my dog back. read more

The area is huge which is great because it's always full of pups and there's water available and bags to pick up after your dog but it's so muddy. Last time I went I was about 3 inches deep in sloppy mud and it hadn't been raining. It was almost unreal at how much mud there was. I used to live right down the road from Carolina Pines which is the same concept, free as well but kept up with their park much more than this one has. Unfortunately I live too far from it now. The best thing about this park is that it has lights so when it's getting dark you can stay for awhile. It's not that I'm not expecting it to be dirty when I go to the dog park but honestly my dog could barely walk through it. There were dogs digging everywhere (dangerous) my dog injured himself jumping over a huge dug up hole that wasn't prevented one time so it was pretty scary for me. Sadly for my pup we won't ever be returning because by the time it warms up again we'll be elsewhere. read more
