IF I could give 0 stars I would. Lesson learned: You get…read morewhat you "pay" for. This was a "free" event which charged handling fees and service charge. I think it is just an event for them to sell booze. I completed the Margarita Madness 5K in Raleigh, NC yesterday and I have to say it was the WORST run 5Kevent I have EVER attended. I know it is a FUN RUN and not timed but there were so many problems. I do not know if this is the first time it was done in Raleigh or not, but it looked GREAT online but in reality it was a sham of a 5K and frankly dangerous. We were surprised how hard it was to find the race as there were no signs posted in the entrance of the park. We had to drive around until we found the site and it took awhile. Parking was not clearly marked. 1. THERE SIMPLY was not enough staff to man the number of runners that showed up. I got there at 3pm so it was easy peasy for me to get my packet of course. But when my friends got there at 4pm the lines were immensely long. The staff basically just handout out stuff without checking IDs or following the protocols they had lined up on the website including: a. Runners who were under 21 - there were lots of people that were obviously too young to be there. b. Single strollers, double strollers, triple strollers and wagons - kids were everywhere! I love kids. I have two. They stayed home because this was advertised as a 21 and over run and it was posted over and over that you must show ID. Family could be at the event but not on the run. But that was not the case. c. Non service dogs were in attendance even though the race touted only service dogs were allowed. d. I saw a ton of runners without run tags. 2. There was ONE staff person on the course and he said he was "paid" to be there for the day and had no idea about anything. I guess he was just for show? He was standing there with no walkie and had no clue what was happening. 3. There was ONE law enforcement officer on the route and he also had no clue what was happening. He did have a walkie and a way to communicate but when he did contact the event organizer/manager he said they were not doing anything. 4. THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH WATER. It was 89 degrees and felt like 95, humid and they had ONE water station which ran out after just 1/3 of the runners and it was not refilled. There was NO ONE MANNING THE STATION, no cups, no trash cans, THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY irresponsible. Many racers quit or took short cuts because they were dehydrated. The event sold alcohol before the race but failed to provide hydration? Absurd! 5. Safety of the racers were totally ignored! a. There were no cones or flags marking the MANY deep potholes and uneven running path. b. The cones marking the run trail was small and hard to see and confusing. c. There was inadequate number of event people along the trail (1 paid person and 1 police officer was it) d. Not enough water stations. e. No first aid available on the course - there was also no first aid tent at the start/finish. f. The start of the race was ill run. Everyone basically stormed the start line because no one was there to organize. A DJ basically called out the waves but there was no order. It was chaos. g. VEHICLES WERE ALLOWED TO DRIVE ON THE RACE PATH WHILE THE EVENT WAS STILL ONGOING. I had to dodge people returning to parking AND cars while I was still finishing the race! This is absolutely unacceptable. 6. The website promises a post race party with tunes with the best dj in town, and amazing food trucks. FUN FUN FUN AND MORE FUN it touted. What we got was: a. 2 food trucks and a snow cone truck and a 3rd food truck that arrived just before the race began. b. a DJ that ridiculed people enjoying the "bull ride" thing next to the dance floor. c. a sound system that was so muddled it was hard to understand what he was saying. We arrived at 3pm and wasted as much time as we could until the race started. It was boring. The race was dangerous and my friend became dehydrated. I had to FLAG down a racer who was driving on the race path to take her back so I could finish the race. When I got to the finish line I did not get a medal. I had to FIND SOMEONE to give me one and she was nonplussed as she was busy selling margaritas. On top of that the medal used a sticker and it was already peeling off. The line for the "free finish line margarita" was incredibly long and the drink was scarce of alcohol. They ran out of bottled water at the end of the race so we had NO WAY OF GETTING MORE WATER. I read all my emails and every one of them promised "surprises along the run" - there was none other than the lack of water. It mentioned over and over that there would be water stations. There was only one and it was inadequate. There was supposed to be a fun after party but most of the people could not wait to leave an go home. This was an epic fail.

Beautiful park in Garner with a dog park, playground, baseball fields, pavilion, hiking trails,…read morepaved road, parking, and a gazebo. The park is clean and spacious. We stopped here for the dog park and then explored the rest of the park. We started with running on the sidewalk until we came upon the hiking trail entrance. We were excited to check out the trails. The sign at the trail head listed labelled trails and their length. We started down the main trail and did not see any trail markers. We kept walking and found a blue trail marker. We decided to follow the blue trail, however, tried several paths before finding the next blue trail marker. I'm not sure if we kept missing the paint markers or if they washed away in the rain. With all the paths and erosion, permanent trail markers should be added. Bridges can be found along the trails crossing over eroded creeks. After not finding another trail marker, we decided to head towards a nearby road and found ourselves at a school. Overall, we still had a good time exploring the park and recommend this park to others!

There were at least two separate fenced areas, one for larger and one for smaller dogs. Makes me miss mine as I'm on the road. Lighted baseball fields, picnic shelters with grills, a mountain bike trail, walking trail and restrooms. Lovely large park! Definitely would return. [Review 11932 overall, 1714 of 2019.]
