There's wasn't much nipping or territorial behavior and my friend's smallish beagle got along fine even with the bigger ones. They've even got some lawn chairs for owners to lounge on and a sizable parking lot. If you've got a doggie, great space to visit, even on a hot sunny day with all the tree cover. We entered the dog park through the side entrance. Both entrances have a double fence making it easy to leash and unleash your dog and prevent escapees. It seems most people bring their dogs around 5:30/6 pm weekdays. We are looking forward to attending when more dogs are here. The park has equipment, toys, water, and waste stations. The park was clean without holes and dog poop. Overall, we had a good experience here and look forward to returning!

The park is amazingly big with plenty of room for dogs to run around freely, meet and greet, and play with other dogs. There is a small dog area, a large dog area, and an agility area. There are benches and water fountains in each area. The large dog area has pools in it for dogs to get wet. I do wish there was one in the small dog area however I don't mind going in the large dog area so that my Shadow can enjoy and cool off. The agility area has a few obstacles that pets can run and jump on. The areas are large enough for you to get some steps in, sit and watch your pets, or play with them. While we were there two other dogs and I met some very nice dog owners. I will definitely be taking Shadow at least once a week.

If you visit the community center on its grounds you can see the black and white photos adorning the walls of the center dating back to the 60's featuring the people of this African American community. This is a beautiful park that is home to the main attraction its early 20th-century carousel. Allan Herschell Carousel, showcases a Wurlitzer 146A band organ, oil paintings of waterfalls and other natural scenes, and thirty-six jumping, hand-carved, hand-painted horses. There are several indoor and outdoor spaces available to the public and for rent. In addition a playground, tennis courts, and a pool, the park offers a community center, picnic shelters, a gymnasium, a lit, outdoor track, a fitness center, and a game room. A half-mile of Raleigh's Capital Area Greenway traverses the park via Little Rock Trail. During the week my daughter attends basketball practice here and we love the view of the city skyline from the community center This is my favorite park in the Raleigh area.
