This cute little park is located in downtown Raleigh, we stumbled upon it when we were exploring this general area. A lot of the park is dedicated to firefighters, so there is a nice memorial to them. We enjoyed taking a rest in the shade on one of the benches with our pups. There seems to be a decent amount of seating throughout the park. We spotted people of all ages enjoying the park on the beautiful day that we visited!

Cool little park here in the city its small but has everything you need in a small area. They have some monuments that the kids liked and cool to take pictures with. Park is well kept up, clean all around, and I didnt really see any weird people around. Parking around here isn't great but sure if you live nearby you know the situation here. Overall its a nice park and would recommend checking it out.

The Secure Parking lot on Dawson is a trick. Poor signage confuses restaurant patrons and set them up for an unsuspecting ticket. Then the company lies about signage when you appeal the violation. A racket for sure. I will never park in that lot again and warn anyone going to Parkside Restaurant or any other business in that area to steer clear of it too. Why would you knowingly park in a lot you have to pay for when municipal parking is free?

Much less visited than it's more popular park-counterpark Moore Square, just five blocks away. Nash Square is quiet, dog friendly [doggie bags included], tall tree friendly [don't miss the massive tree starting to take up the sidewalk on W. Martin Street]. I swear you'll find Mr. Tumnus here if you come in the winter time and stand by one of the beautiful, although electric, light posts. In the middle of the park, found by walking along the short paths you'll find on every corner, you'll discover a beautiful, although somewhat forgotten, Fallen Fire Fighter Statue [maybe you can even catch a glimpse of a live fireman across the street at the station]. Park benches and and tiny gardens throughout, while there may not be an overwhelming reason to purposefully visit Nash Square, it's a lovely park to walk through when walking from downtown Raleigh to the Depot district. Plus, the park is literally shrinking [from a previous five acres to now closer to four], seen when looking down South Dawson Street, the sidewalks [Shel Silverstein be darned] don't end but DON'T line up. So visit while you can, who knows how much longer the park will be around.

Much nicer than Moore square with actual greenery among the park benches. This is not the park where First Night happens or where they have the music festivals. Still, it's a lovely park and a good spot to sit with a coffee and feed the birds for a bit.

In 1808, he opened his first school, the site of which was located near the grounds of modern-day Chavis Park. There is rich black history here at this park. If you visit the community center on its grounds you can see the black and white photos adorning the walls of the center dating back to the 60's featuring the people of this African American community. This is a beautiful park that is home to the main attraction its early 20th-century carousel. Allan Herschell Carousel, showcases a Wurlitzer 146A band organ, oil paintings of waterfalls and other natural scenes, and thirty-six jumping, hand-carved, hand-painted horses. There are several indoor and outdoor spaces available to the public and for rent. In addition a playground, tennis courts, and a pool, the park offers a community center, picnic shelters, a gymnasium, a lit, outdoor track, a fitness center, and a game room. A half-mile of Raleigh's Capital Area Greenway traverses the park via Little Rock Trail. During the week my daughter attends basketball practice here and we love the view of the city skyline from the community center This is my favorite park in the Raleigh area.
