good stuff and it's a good pool Good job on the pool and the water is the best part about this is the first time I went there in my life read more

The facility was clean and well-organized. The pool area was well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was easy to find what I needed, and everything ran smoothly. read more

Really enjoyed going swimming here the staff are polite and extremely helpful. I will definitely be coming back.

Wait is ridiculous. There is no lanes fir pass holders. The last choice for community rec centre's.

This is a great! Its like a mini West Edmonton Mall Water Park! Wave pool with bigger waves then WEM. Theres a rope you can use for cannon balls. The wave pool layout is similar to wem but obviously smaller. Just swimming in the waves is tiring. It seems like the waves come every other 15 minutes like WEM. I noticed the water level was much lower then it could have been. Makes sense with how big the waves are. I asked a life guard if they ever stop the waves and fill up the pool? It sounded like either the waves couldn't be turned off or they never are or they just don't fill it up ever for whatever reason. Theres a sauna but no steam room. It didn't seem to get that hot. Also a diving tank with a large diving board. Next to it theres a water slide thats pretty respectable. Of course like most pools, theres a hot tub. I felt like a kid for a couple hours at this pool. I definitely recommend this place. The only thing I might mention is I don't know if you can lane swim. read more

Consistently clean, friendly Recreation centre. Yoga and Zumba classes are affordable - $8.50 drop in, FREE w/ a membership. There are two arenas at this facility - families come for ice hockey, public skating and shiny. I've not used them, but have seen families hosting birthday parties in the multi purpose rooms !! pool, arenas, fitness areas, play spaces and indoor courts. Additional amenities include a pretty darn good concession, indoor courts, pool, fitness area and play spaces. read more

Just fine, for an old guy and his grandkids. The gym is small, but, it has more than enough stuff for me. The waves in the pool are GREAT. The kids love it. A small kids play-room rounds out a day at the gym, for me: workout / swim / playroom!! read more

I've been attending the Millwoods Rec Centre for about 3 months now and can't complain! The facilities are good considering membership is pretty cheap (around $30/month, or $8 for individual visits) for access to all the centre has to offer. I can't speak for the pool area since I spend all my time upstairs in the fitness room. This is a good gym for you if you're a "no frills" kind of person. The kind of person that just wants to go in, get your workout done, and go out. Nothing fancy here, and that's the way I like it. There's a good selection of weights, and the staff are good spotter if you need them. I do hope they get more treadmills: there are only about 8 so you might have to wait a bit to get a hold of one. It gets pretty busy from 6-8pm so plan accordingly! Pop-in immediately after work if you can. read more

This south side recreation center is a great place to go work out, swim or play racquetball. The swimming pool was fun. There is also a hot tub, wading pool and steam room in the pool area. We went on a day when swimming classes were cancelled and it was really nice with no kids at the pool. We also booked a racquetball court-- on short notice (I was surprised they had one available still). All in all-- good prices, great facility. It seems really clean. The changing rooms are spacious and well kept. I know they offer some fitness classes, although I have not signed up for one. This recreation center even has a boot camp that is offered for significantly less cash than competitors like "survivor boot camp." For an adult, the visit prices range are $8 or $9 depending on how much access you want. Ten visit passes are available, as well as monthly and annual passes. The Rec Center is really old but it's not bad. I don't have a membership here but it is pretty cheap. It is located in between Holy Trinity and J. Percy Page high schools so it is often packed with students. I think the best times to go would be during school hours or later at night. They have tennis courts, squash, ice rinks, swimming and a weight room. You can get in pretty much any work out you want. The pool is pretty great for learning to swim . They also offer swim classes. Even though the place is getting really old they have a pretty loyal following. read more

Mill Woods Recreation Centre - taken from the City of Edmonton website - Recreation Centers Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Like most rinks in the city, the arena sound system is quite inferior and their speakers are in most part are not suitable for music in a large space. They are of poor quality and have poor output given the large space. Small towns invest in their arenas including better sound system that is adequate or suitable for a large space. The City of Edmonton forget that music during events ex. hockey are very important and part of the entertainment package. Great ice but poor quality sound!! read more

The gym here is really nice. The treadmills and ellipticals over look the pool and the bikes over look the racquetball courts and each has a tv and built in fan. They have lots of weight machines and a large free weight area. There are schwinn bikes which most rec' centres don't have. The pool is only okay for doing laps but it's super nice to bring a family to as it has waves. There is also a big water slide, a hot tub, steam room and sauna. They have separate pool and gym change rooms which I really appreciate and both are set up well. I don't like that I have to get a wrist band each time I come here, it just seems so wasteful. The parking lot is very large and I ever have a hard time finding a spot but it is shared with the 2 connected schools so just watch the signs to make sure you're parking in the right place. read more

I used to go to Millwoods Rec Centre all the time! And I still have fun when I do. I really like the swimming pool and hot tub they have here. They aren't anything extremely special but I just really like them. Also, the women's change room is clean! I have been in some nasty change rooms and I never felt comfortable or clean in them. I had to wear shoes or sandals every single step. Not this one though. They keep the change rooms clean and organized. Something that I will never take for granted again. I like Millwoods Rec Centre because it's cheap. You can spend hours here doing whatever you want and it's less than $10. It's a really good deal. read more

I have been utilizing this facility with the assistance of a trainer for several months now. It has a pool, meeting rooms, a daycare, racketball and squash courts, as well as the fitness area and weight room. The meeting rooms get very stuffy quite quickly, the ventilation could be greatly improved to make them better. The change rooms and bathrooms have always been nice and clean, but I haven't had the opportunity to try out the pool yet, as it had been closed for some renovations for a duration of time. I have never been a gym person so as far as the equipment goes I can't really say how it might compare to other facilities, but my trainer always finds plenty of items for me to utilize!! There are free lockers you can use out in the main reception area so that is a nice bonus. Overall this rec centre is well maintained and user friendly. read more

I took my family to the pool and was immediately disappointed at the staff member helping us, she was extremely rude and got mad when my brother went to pick my son up for a wrist band stating that he hadn't paid yet and I stay behind the line even though ah could see I had 3 small children. Also the layout was ridiculous because the family room didn't have change rooms. The hot tub has a capacity of 11 people, the toddler pool is extremely small, there are 2 slides both of which are not set up for small children, and you get in trouble for taking your child past the first set of floating lines. We did however get a refund and was helped in finding a child friendly pool. The manager was extremely helpful and if not for him the whole ordeal would have been 110% horrible. read more

Awful staff and wrong information on website. We checked the public swimming time on the website before hand and I guess that was wrong because the most of the facility was closed. The staff were extremely rude, I was working with a women with a disability and they wouldn't listen. Degrading and dismissive. The lifeguard was the only decent human in this place. read more

4 stars strictly as a a birthday party venue. Once your kids and their friends get old enough to enjoy water slides and waves on their own, this is one of the best city venue for birthday parties. It is possible to have a nice party for under a $100 for a dozen kids. The Green Room on the second floor rents for $30 an hour and comes with a microwave (and maybe a small fridge). It could easily handle 25 kids but do you really want 25 kids? And unlike some other venues, you can bring your own food which keeps the cost down. Swimming fees will be reduces by 10% from already cheap price if you have more than 10 kids. read more

Love that it's so close to home but the pool is set up weird for families with older kids. Equipment is brand new and everyone makes you feel welcome! The Second Cup opens in spring so that will be a nice bonus. Rejuvenation Health & Wellness is on site for all your injury rehab needs. read more

Mill Woods Recreation Centre - Trained backwards but still shaved off some time. #yeg #fitness #running #nowforabs - Recreation Centers Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Well when it comes to city facilities this place isnt the best. I use to swim here and workout here but thats only because I lived near by and at the time had no car, so really I had little choice. Its nice to have a pool here in South Edmonton but when I go in I just get the "dirty" sense, not that I am but the building is (just in case I needed to clarify) dosent look like its well kept. Also depending on when you go but theres the two Highschools on either side of the pool. This makes for that crowd that thinks there all cool and badass hanging around smoking. Ughhh just grow up . If you have an alternative pool to go to, do it. read more

I realize that the MWRC may not be of any competition to the new Meadows rec centre opening up, but it's still a decent rec centre that I'm happy to take my kids to for swimming, or any of their preschool programs. read more

Have had my grandson in swim lessons several times over the years and removed him finally because of instructors that did not know what they were doing and actually making him fail because they appeared to be more nervous than he was (example: about treading water) and kept shoving the float board in front of him...so of course he would hold on to it and not complete the time that he needed for treading water!! When we have gone for recreational swims the several times, there always seems to be someone who distributes fecal matter into the pool so that everyone has to get out of the pool, clean their bodies off and wait for the pool to be cleaned!! Disgusting...time and time again!! Lifeguards and staff who walk around the pool to make sure everything is as it should be are missing people who are walking on the decks with their outside boots and shoes on. I believe that if people don't want their children to accidentally get in a video/picture that we may take of our child, they shouldn't bring their children to the public swim pool! I don't think that I look suspicious when taking video of my grandson for personal learning use as to show him what he could improve on! Everyone should sign a form the same as we have to when our children go to school every year stating that our children may be photographed or video taped at some time during the school year! It is a public place...do you have cameras on the outside/inside of the building taping me without my knowledge? read more

The Millwoods Pool is close to my home otherwise I would never go there. I have never been to a pool where the floors have been so grimy. Even in the change rooms you have to have flip flogs on or you feel like you are walking on gravel. Kids are allowed to have their winter boots on in the change rooms. I have read the other reviews here and don't know where those people are coming from, perhaps things have changed in the last few months. I am going to complain to the City. read more

I completely agree that the staff are incredibly unfriendly and downright rude. Millwoods Rec Centre is overcrowded and understaffed, which makes for an unpleasant and tedious experience for everyone. When you have a pass that you could easily scan, they still make you wait in their long line ups and they yell at you when you want to go change and come back to scan your card, even though they have seen you coming to this same gym for the past 15 years. It's unbelievable and incredibly angering. I cannot wait for the new recreation centre to be built on the south side. Then I will gladly leave the horrible customer service of millwoods. read more

First time we've been back since the renovations, we usually go to Millennium Place in Sherwood Park. We were disappointed at the lack of consideration for families with small kids. Only two small family change rooms that we could find, which were totally unavailable. We took the twins into the women's change room and not only were the benches too narrow to change the kids on safely, there was nowhere to put them while we got ready (playpen like at the other facility). Not kid friendly, we will be returning to the other pool which makes it easy to go swimming with children in tow. read more
