Tons of spin bikes
Michelle M.

I really enjoy this rec centre. Great track on the third floor, ice rinks are awesome and I love taking their classes. I've taking all the spin classes and have enjoyed them all and continue to take them. I've also noticed that the people who go here are also really friendly. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Washrooms are relatively clean and accessible. I also love it's convenient location and tons of parking. The instructors of every class (registered class) I've taken has been great and keep you engaged. They always introduce themselves to new people in the class and are helpful if you have an injury.

Halloween Event coming up this Friday, October 21st!

This new and beautiful Centre has an amazing selection of services! The facility is set on the outside of town and offers numerous opportunities for teams, events and different age ranges. If you have ever been to one of these facilities you know my review will never explain how much they can give to a community and family. We can skate, play, swim and have supper within two hours and all for a very reasonable price. I have even heard of people moving over to this part of the city to help save time when taxing kids around for sports. As a young family we often utilize the pool, the skating rinks, play park and food services. We are always pleased with the cleanliness, easy going staff and well priced services. By far my favorite evenings have been spent swimming with the kids, having a snack at Skybox Cafe and then dropping the littles in their AWESOME DAYCARE service and then going back to Skybox for a drink and some sports viewing with my husband (we love close enough to walk home:)

I was at this place 2 weeks ago. Its in a nice part of town and it is a very nice rec center. I…read moreonly tried the pool. Very spacious building with places to sit and eat after doing your workout, playing a game or going for a swim. Theres a sauna but you need a special membership,( somehow every city pool still beats the YMCA). There is a steam room though, which is big. Bigger then I thought at first, due to the steam blocking my vision. There is a big hot tub as well. The layout of the place is interesting. Easy to get lost the first time you go. The swimming lanes are sort of connected to the diving area. You have to swim under...I'm not sure what the word would be. But you can get there from the lanes. I would go back more often if this place wasn't out of the way for me.

One of my favourite Gyms in the city! What I don't like…read moreabout this location and I try to avoid: There are a lot of kids and very noisy Lots of tournaments that affects parking and the whole experience Around 4-6 PM, there are a lot of high school students there and it's hard to do anything They are still using the old fashion wristbands for which are bad for environment! Other locations have started having reusable wristbands which are much better and easier. For the noise and crowd: I plan my workout time around rush hours and I completely avoid the place when there is a tournament. The customer service is awesome and the staff is always nice and helpful! I haven't had any bad experiences related to customer service! If you plan it right, you can enjoy your workouts here! I recommend this place!

I'm a wacko who actually enjoys the colder temperatures of the pool! The only things its missing is higher diving boards and a bigger Sauna/Steam room,( they are always full). And maybe a deeper pool. From my point of view, those are they only things other pools in Etown are doing better.

The Peter Hemmingway Fitness and Leisure Centre serves the northwest part of the city. Peter…read moreHemmingway Fitness and Leisure Centre, formerly known as Coronation Fitness Centre, has recently undergone a renovation to include a large built in whirlpool (thank you very much) and overall maintenance. The pool area is 50m, has and wet and dry sauna and a large observation area (accessible from both on and off the pool deck) and is home to the Coronation Triathlon. The large bank of south facing windows lets in amble light and doesn't make you feel like you're sitting in a humid brick cube. The weight room is located in the basement and is rather small, but does suit the bill. This is the first location I started with a trainer a few years ago and holds good memories for me. The change rooms are decent, but if you're working out take flip-flops with you so your feet and socks don't get wet while going through the change room. Tennis courts and a sports field are located just outside is a nice change of pace when the weather is nice. Parking can sometimes be crowded as traffic from comes the arena and school next door. It's a good facility and offers lots of programs for both aquatics and fitness. Because the facility is city run, admission fees are a bit high. But if you purchase a multi-facility pass you can use all of the city rec centres - good bang for your buck.

Oh gosh my family finally visited this recreation centre to use the pool (including the waterslide…read moreand the shallow areas with a toddler) and it really was a great experience. Due to capacity limits our friends were unable to join us and so we'll have to try again another time to go with friends but this first experience for a public swim was excellent! The toddler really loved the shark shaped flotation device to ride and the waterslide was a hit all around. The little kid slide was good too though it ended in deeper water than the toddler was used to... it was still enjoyable! The pool was very busy which was a bit overwhelming due to the pandemic. The other fitness areas looked good from afar. The family change room was great though the first locker we tried to use didn't work so we had to try another locker to secure our belongings. I liked the fact that the family change room had everyone change in change rooms which is great -- and it really wasn't a family change room but rather an all-gender/all-abilities change room for the pool which is a refreshing change! Having the lockers be free was great too! And the shower was okay. All in all the this changing facility seemed a bit too busy too but otherwise was just fine. I liked the hot tub and the slide. This facility is reasonably well situated for transit accessibility. Parking is tight but there's a great map for alternate areas if the lot is too busy. We'll be back for more community swims... and possibly for more eventually!

We toured the new building during its soft opening, so not everything was open yet. The new space…read moreis wonderfully bright with whole walls of windows. The in-water climbing wall is interesting, if a little odd. Pool is divided into kids' shallower pool with a few spray features and another for lane swimming, which is probably a good choice. The fitness equipment has moved upstairs, and the running track is suspended over the indoor soccer fields, which given the noise level there will mean runners will not be having any zen running experiences. Or their ipods will be cranked up high. There are a couple of multipurpose rooms right off the entrance area - one set up as toddler play room and another with tables and chairs which will undoubtedly host hundreds of birthday parties a year. The parking lot is quite small so when there are two soccer games on it will be crowded. All in all a very nice upgrade to the neighbourhood.
