I just brought the two boys I take care of to this park for the first time and it was a major hit! I'm sorry I didn't bring them here sooner! It's like a green oasis near downtown; the park space is beautiful with great big trees, picnic tables, fountains and sidewalks perfect for the kids to ride their bikes. The selling feature is the big playground area, the boys and such a good time exploring the play structures!

Borden Park is near my house, and it's a beautiful space that well-maintained and manicured. There are lots of trees for shade and picnic tables are all over the place, so if you want to get out of the house on a hot summer day this is the perfect place. There's an outdoor swimming pool and a kids' play area, not to mention green grass everywhere for running around and having fun. It's also a great place to bring a book on a busy weekend afternoon in the summer. I must say though, that after sunset this park is a little scary. I went for a stroll there at the tail end of summer with my boyfriend, and we were pretty much the only people in the park, except for a few guys who were hanging out by the closed pool and a few more in a parked car. It just felt shady, and we got out of there as quickly as possible. It's still a pretty rough neighbourhood, so I wouldn't recommend going there unless it's a busy summer day and lots of people are around.

This was a first time for me heading to Queen Elizabeth outdoor poor. Located by Kinsmen Park and right on the river valley. Once all the construction is finished by the bridge, I bet that will be a lovely walk in the summer. Pack up for a day out because there is nowhere to buy food. Picnic is a must! There are a lot of nice spots to sunbathe, hide in the shade and sit by the pool. The pool is large but on a sunny summer day be prepared for it to be busy! There isn't a ton of room once in but I do like that they divide the pool up into three sections. One for kids, one for people just floating or swimming leisurely, and one for divers. There were a lot of divers! It made for great people watching. As I mentioned, it's free to go. The door staff just check your bags and make you empty water bottles out before you can enter. The changing facilities and wash rooms are clean and well maintained.

I got there 20 min before they opened and there was already a lineup. There are a few big trees on the grass for shade and lounge chairs in the sun. The zero-depth pool entry is great for kids to walk in and play in the shallow water.

I'm a wacko who actually enjoys the colder temperatures of the pool! The only things its missing is higher diving boards and a bigger Sauna/Steam room,( they are always full). The pool area is 50m, has and wet and dry sauna and a large observation area (accessible from both on and off the pool deck) and is home to the Coronation Triathlon. The large bank of south facing windows lets in amble light and doesn't make you feel like you're sitting in a humid brick cube. The weight room is located in the basement and is rather small, but does suit the bill. This is the first location I started with a trainer a few years ago and holds good memories for me. The change rooms are decent, but if you're working out take flip-flops with you so your feet and socks don't get wet while going through the change room. Tennis courts and a sports field are located just outside is a nice change of pace when the weather is nice. Parking can sometimes be crowded as traffic from comes the arena and school next door. It's a good facility and offers lots of programs for both aquatics and fitness. Because the facility is city run, admission fees are a bit high. But if you purchase a multi-facility pass you can use all of the city rec centres - good bang for your buck.

Unfortunately the pool can be a bit cold for the little ones and there isn't a toddler pool, but it is a great neighbourhood facility and we're very happy it is available. We'll continue to have our kid in swimming lessons and we will continue to enjoy the fitness facilities and pool. The gym is small and has limited machines etc. but is really well maintained. The hot tub, steam room and sauna are great as well. The change rooms are ample and while the family change rooms get rather busy, the facility is really well maintained for its size and location. The majority of those present follow the COVID protocols well and take good care of the gym. In our visits, most folks have been properly masked and very few others have been present in the gym. There is also a bus stop nearby and ample parking. As a youth, I swam here for high school swim meets at least on one occasion. As an adult I've enjoyed my time here. The women's change room shower that has the hand shower is the warmest. All locker room lockers can be used with personal locks or be used with 50 cents. There are free lockers in the lobby for valuables. There is also a very small viewing area and lots of space to watch on deck.

Came to Kinsmen Leisure Centre yesterday for a toddler birthday party…read more My review is for the amenities used for the toddler play & party room. The play room is for children 6 & under. It had optional black lights throughout the room which the kiddos loved! There were plenty of slides, climbing structures, giant foam building pieces, gymnastic mats, and a rock climbing wall! It was clean, it was bright, it was spacious! Adjoining the playroom was a large party room with tables, chairs, washroom, sink, counter area. My only complaint is that my kiddos could see & smell the pool which led to incessant requests to go swimming... So we will likely go swimming today! I think the mom said it was $170 for 2 hours. Balloons & piñatas are not allowed due to the air intake system. Overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10! 2 hours is a pretty tight window to set up, play, eat, open presents, and clean up. The next group was waiting for us to leave at the 2 hour mark.
