Visited Clareview Rec Center with the family and my kids had fun. They have a swimming pool, basketball courts, gym and indoor playground for the kids which was the main reason we went. My understanding is this is a relatively new recreation centre. Its a very large and very nice facility. Theres a skate park outside the building which I don't think I've seen. I mainly went for the pool today. The change room had those lockers that you punch in a 4 digit code and it saves it and locks it for you. Just remember the code and your locker number. They have the typical 25 meter pool and a kid pool with water jets and beach entry. I seen something called a 'lazy river' which looked like a sort of maze you could meander through, which was kind of interesting. I think these are all salt water. I believe I seen another pool as well that looked shallow, but deeper then the kid pool. Theres a hot tub thats actually pretty large. I seen a steam room but it was closed. Additionally I seen a water slide, as well as 3 tiers of diving boards. Its not too shabby for catching a swim but it would be nice if they had a sauna. read more

World class fitness center! This facility boasts a fitness center, pool area, ice rinks, child minding, fitness classes, an open gymnasium and 2 cafes! The parking lot has a skate park. What's better is that it is also attached to a library that has its own unique amenities. We've had a membership for years. The fitness center can cater to every workout you can imagine. Machines, free weights, medicine balls. Name it. Don't want to work out alone? Take a class or register for a private trainer. Don't like the gym? Go for a swim! There are unisex and family locker rooms. There are multiple pools to choose from. The pools are warm and the pools offer lots of kid floaties and toys. I come here, drop my kids off at affordable child minding. Then I can sit and drink a barista coffee and go for a work out. Lots of times I people watch or check out live hockey games. The negatives - Mirrors a different review - the parking lot is terrible. It's Alberta. It's usually cold. I have to walk far and there are very few available ramps for people with accessibility issues. As for a reply to other reviews: Yes there was an issue with locker thefts. The facility mitigated that by offering brand new secure lockers. It's become a non issue. Yes there are young people here......it's a community center. They should be here. It can get expensive. Day passes are always expensive anywhere you go. The value is in memberships. Often employers qualify you for discounts here. I swim here on the regular. There were only 2 times I recall the pool being colder than normal. And for the thousands of people that use this place daily, the facility is clean. read more

Clarview rec center is somtimes super busy so you have to go in the morning is the best time for swimming and gym. The indoor play ground is great for kids 4 and up just because the littles have a hard time climbing. read more

Came for September Free Admission Day and was blown away. All the pools were warm - deep, shallow, toddler, & lazy river! We also checked out the indoor playground - 2 thumbs way up! We took a peek at the indoor courts and ice rinks. There is a Jugo Juice and Good Earth (yum!) Clareview is lucky to have this fabulous new facility! I was surprised to see so many police officers here. There were quite a few signs posted about ongoing thefts (like don't leave your shoes on the shoe racks!) so I inquired with the police. They said there are 2 officers stationed here on weekends and sporadically throughout the week. There are at least 3 levels to this facility, several parking lots/entrances, and tons of places to sit and read a book or eat your lunch. They even have an EPL branch inside! read more

Came here on Sunday with the family to go swimming. Really great facilities. There is even a family change area which is quite large. Free lockers and lots of change rooms. The pool area features hot tub, sauna, lane swimming, kiddie pool, regular pool with lazy river and a water slide. Lots of stuff for the whole family. We were considering the world waterpark but decided to come here. Kids had a great time and didn't want to leave. Will definitely come back. read more

This is awe-some! Clap clap clapclapclap! This is awe-some! Clap clap clapclapclap! I must admit that we spent most of our time at the swimming pool, and it was fabulous! My biggest pet peeve in the world is cold pool water, which constitutes for 99.9 % of the pools in existence. This is among the 00.1%!!! This is, by a landslide, the warmest pool that I have ever had the pleasure of being in. And yes, that includes the A.C.T., for all you old schoolers. Granted, they only have one water slide, but it is nice and quick and you can ride it solo if you are taller than 40 inches. (My four year-old qualified, unlike Legoland) The slide also isn't what I would call super tall, so it doesn't feel like climbing Mount Everest to reach the summit. Did I mention how warm the water is? The swimming area has something for everybody including two diving boards, a diving platform, a lane pool (with a wall timer), the regular pool, a hot tub and a lazy river. The family change room is nice and big and boasts lots of bathroom stalls. I also love the fact that you can use the lockers as a pay locker OR you can use your own lock. Two things that I found lacking were that there wasn't any seating area other than in the change stalls and there wasn't a bathing suit wringer-outer machine. On a personal note, I can let these two shortcomings go. The facility itself has a huge indoor playground, a child minding room, full gymnasium, 2 full size hockey rinks, a fitness centre, multi-purpose rooms, meeting rooms, a multicultural centre school, an Edmonton Public Library, Good Earth coffee shop, a smoothie place and an outdoor artificial turf for football and soccer games. Bah gawd, this place is amazing! If we lived closer, we would definitely be signing up for a membership. The amount of amenities and classes are second to none. My only wish is that Servus Place in St. Albert would take some notes and consider doing an upgrade. If you should ever feel the need to take the kids out for a day and have them run amok like a bunch of screaming banshees, the Clareview Community Centre would certainly be at the top of my list. All I have to say is WOW....okay well maybe I have a bit more to say then that but one cannot help but stand in awe at just how beautiful the north sides brand new five star recreation facility is. The massive building boasts a huge fitness area,basketball courts,volleyball courts,aquatic center, sheets of ice for hockey,meeting rooms,jugo juice,good earth coffee house,skate park,and baseball diamonds on the outside. The rec center also shares space with a new branch of the library. I don't think alot of people know about the new branch as it was extremely quiet when we went. They have a great collection of materials though with tons of room left to expand and bring in even more. We had specifically visited on Sunday to use the pool so I will expand a little more on that. Going into the locker room I was impressed right away with how on top of keeping it clean the staff appear to be. There is a ton of locker space which they definitely need as after two months of being open it was definitely apparent that the pool has become popular with residents of the area. The pool area itself is divided into several areas for lane swim,diving,and a shallower pool for young ones and families to play around in. They of course have a water slide like most of the pools in the city seem to come equipped with and I was pleased to see a traffic light system up at the top to let users know when it is okay to slide down after the person before them has gone. Something new that I have not seen before was the lazy river. It is a twisting lane type pool where you can float and have jets propel you around the course with little to no effort from yourself. It was definitely popular with both kids and adults alike. The life guards at the pool are quite diligent and they have enough of them on where it felt more then sufficiently staffed. At other pools I have always felt that older kids aren't properly dealt with and the horseplay often injures younger swimmers and annoys adults but I don't get that feeling here. Infact I only noticed two teenagers in the pool the whole time we were there which was a nice surprise considering how busy it was. Besides the lazy river I also really enjoyed the hot tub. It was huge and quite enjoyable to be able to sit and relax without feeling like I was encroaching on anybodies personal space. I really can't say enough good things about Claireview's brand new rec center and strongly encourage you to try it out yourself....you will probably see me down there as I plan to become a frequent user! read more

the worst pool I have ever been to absolutely filthy dirty underwear and clothes left in more then one change room bathrooms were horrible the pungent smell of pee like someone peed all over the floor big pool with extremely small area to swim in I have been in pools across bc to Alberta this is one of the worst pools never mind the lack of supervision for the big slide where I witnessed kids pushing other kids down the slide or not waiting for the kid who went first to make sure the bottom of the slide was clear before going down unreal I do not recommend this place read more

Good facility. Clean and open with warm water and lots of watchful staff. Decent sized hot tub, fun waterslide, lots of variety in pools. A good place to kill an entire day of swimming and adventure with the family. read more

The new rec centre is pretty great. Just stepping up to the brand new building leaves an impact. It has the same sort of feel as the art gallery which is neat there is some continuity of Edmonton's facilities. I have tried out the pool here and was pretty impressed. They have a toddler pool, a lazy river, slide, hot tub and a regular pool. There are plenty of toys if you are bringing your young one as well as floaties for the adults wanting to coast down the lazy river. We really enjoyed the lazy river for our little one because it had a separate little cove you could go into to get out of the way of the crowd. The slide was great too it was a good mix of fun and accessible. The hot tub was really good as well but overall the place was cold. You did not want to get out of the water too often. We used the family change room and it is huge. Lots of lockers and change rooms make it perfect for families. The facility as a whole is really nice and modern and has an awesome vibe. We stopped in the new library and it matches the rest of the facility. Lots of chairs to grab a book and curl up or there we a few computers as well. Will need to check out the gym next, but thumbs up Edmonton! read more

We were a bit reluctant to come here after some pretty dismal rumours going around about theft from the locker rooms. That should teach me not to believe everything I hear. What an amazing place! We took my daughter (18 months old) here to go swimming and I was very impressed all around. The kiddy pool was spacious and it was a complete gradient starting from nothing, just like a beach! She loved it! And we also checked out the lazy river, very cool! And there was also 2 more pools and a water slide! The lockers in the change rooms were free, great bonus. After the pool we checked out the indoor playground. This was a really neat place, lots of slides, things to climb up and on and most of it netted in so super safe. We only spend a few hours here but seriously for under $15 per person, and under 2 is free, totally worth it! We didn't even check out half of what was available at this facility, but I was very impressed. We will definitely be back, especially to get active on those really cold days. read more

Beautiful facility. Great job in design and ambiance. Hockey rinks have warm viewing areas but even the rink side seats are warm. Nice change rooms for the rinks. The only complaint is that the coffee shop wasn't open for the early morning hockey game on a Saturday. read more

An absolutely beautiful facility housing not only the rec centre, but also the library! This is a new building with tons and tons of windows, natural lighting, and, most importantly, space. The facility houses a HUGE gymnasium equipped with all the usual gym fixings, as well as basketballs, volleyballs, and badminton gear to borrow. It can fill up quickly, especially if you want to play badminton, so be prepared for a bit of a wait or to split the court with someone else. The pool is also fairly big, with a diving area, kiddie pool, lazy river, and even a water slide! The water is the perfect comfortably warm temperature! There's also a variety of toys and floaties available for use. The change room also houses a bathing suit wringer, which is so so so so useful and should be at every pool! No one likes having to carry around a sopping wet bathing suit... There's a running track that loops through the building, which I've yet to use but seems to never be too busy. Out back there is a beautifully maintained field for use. read more

This is a fabulous facility. What is offered here is awesome. I love working out here. The people are great and the instructors been wonderful. However, I gave 4 stars because of the staff. Please, consider switching them around and not keep front desk also teaching fitness classes. It's been a pleasure not seeing the petite lady who works the desk and teaches classes around. I love this place! We always go Monday for Badminton and laps in the pool! The staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is the best. We went to the Meadows for a change and regretted it! This is our home. Try getting a breakfast sandwich at the Good Earth, it is so good! read more

Service is great but getting asked to see my wristband on the way downstairs after receiving it isn't fun, especially when it's almost every morning between 8am-11am. I get that they have to ask cause of people sneaking in, but I make sure its showing when walking by the second desk. Now every time I walk by I hold my arm up awkwardly just to show them, because them asking is getting bad. The open court gets ridiculous almost everyday and it's really hard to go and just shoot the basketball around. They set up the badminton nets and it cuts out half of the gym. I feel like they should make a time for just basketball courts being open, just so they get some use of the other nets. I've seen people leave because it gets too busy in the evening. read more

For the amount this place makes, this place needs lots of improvement to make it worth while. You are better off avoiding this "super centre" and going to a basic rec centre instead. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would! I signed up for a city membership for the soul purpose of using this new centre, BIG mistake! The sinks turn on and off by themselves. Some of the facility's features like the swim suit dryer have been removed leaving an ugly empty space where it use to be. The auto flushing toilets flush when you are having a seat on them. The fire alarms are out of control. The locker room is congested and not proportional to the capacity of the facility. There are only 4 showers! The STEAM room is out of service for a month once again and this place hasn't even been open for a year! The running track does not have adequate barriers that prevent people from bumping into you while you are trying to run which can be a hazard. The equipment sterile wipes from the fancy dispensers suck and are harder to clean with versus the old fashioned bottle and rags. The parking lot formation is tight. The steam room at commonwealth stadium was down at the same time as this place and it was fixed quicker because the Eskimos use the gym there. For less money, Londonderry has better attractions. This place has full time police and is an attraction for scum because it's far too easy to get in without paying. Cancelled my membership earlier this month, going to use my last couple days left on my pass at commonwealth. This place isn't worth the extra money, better off using a normal city gym. Been there twice. After we paid nearly $30 for myself and 2 kids to go swimming, we find out that there are swimming lessons and we are only allowed in certain areas of the pool. After being in the 'allowed' areas for 15 minutes, we are asked to move. That happened 4 different times. I have no problem with swimming lessons going on at the same time, but could that not be posted on the website? Why didn't the receptionist tell us that when we paid? I would have come back later with my kids. Tonight, my son left something in the gym after playing basketball, and I phoned 311 to ask to be put through to the reception desk. No one answered, 4 different times. So the 311 operator put me through to their voicemail system...you have to spell out the names. No option to be put through to the front desk. And if you Google Clareview Rec Centre's phone #?? You get 311. You can not call the desk directly. I don't think it's too much to ask, after spending $25 for 3 kids to use the gym for one hour, to be able to ask someone at the desk for assistance. I can understand that they don't want the phone ringing off the hook, but come on!! At least have a voicemail system that's accessible. 2 years ago I was a part of a focus group re: the City's website. Every mom there said that it was awful to search for something on the site, the search bar would never take you to where you needed to go. Tonight, I searched 'admission prices' and got the membership page.So $800 paid out in cash to the panel members for participating, plus whatever they paid the marketing company to research...and nothing was done. What a waste of money. The only ray of light here are the 311 operators. Always so kind and helpful. Thank goodness for them. By the way, we would usually go to the Commonwealth Rec Centre, where we had a membership...but the entire facility is shut down for one month due to FIFA soccer. I can't take my kids swimming, can't use the gym, can't run on the track. But the soccer players can use it EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH. What a load of crap. Our whole family loves coming here, we visit the library at least once a week and the pool every week or two. The facilities are beautiful and kept clean, the staff is always friendly to us. We also appreciate the indoor playground during the winter or on rainy days, we try to double up and do the playground and pool on the same day to avoid paying twice. We came here on free admission day last September and it was great! I did get kicked in the gut by a kid in the pool because it was SO PACKED, but what can you expect? Free is free! read more

It's a decent facility has everything you need to keep you and your family entertained. The staff are friendly and helpful. But there's teenagers that hang around and cause problems such as smoking in the facility, rolling weed in the washrooms, bear macing each other (my kids and I witnessed them getting arrested and had to smell the aftermath) and pulling the fire alarm frequently. Twice I was in the middle of a workout and everyone got evacuated for a good half an hour. Then upon letting people back in the pool was closed so if you plan on working out and hitting up the sauna don't count on your plans going smoothly and your workout bring ruined. If you're looking for just a gym I'd suggest you go to a designated gym only centre. But if you have kids and want to real all the benefits a family needs clareview is definitely a decent facility read more

Beautiful facility. I love the pool and the lazy river, however I find it ridiculous that just because it's Clareview, you must have the "all facility" pass. I cannot use any of their instructor lead classes as their class times do not work with my schedule. In addition, the only class that I would want to take - yoga - is offered 3 times per week, mid-day. All I want to do is use the pool and the gym. $50 for a facility pass and $72 for an all facility pass - $22 difference for a service that I would never use is a bit high I feel. read more

My reasons for 2 stars are the following. This is a newer facility and has greater potential Staff working there all the time are great. The instructors in charge of the adult programming whom I consider subs not regular staff are not consistent in addressing potential liability concerns with all participants are in my opinion just collecting a pay check. Recently Jan 2018 the lobby area and one the bathrooms near the daycare have the odor of farm animals. Some times I attend regular classes and some people do not believe in personal hygiene I think if your attending a place which is for health and excersize you should wear clean cloths and underarm deodorant . There are some people who are very territorial and constantly go in my personal space when Im in Zumba . This creates for a hostile environment when I feel Im going to touched by another person which would be assault. Iv addressed this with the women face to face and have gotten attitude back instead of an ops since I go early to get a spot to begin with. The workers who take the handicapped and disabled people sometimes do not have them under there control and Iv seen where a potentially harmful situation almost put innocent people in jeopardy . I have also been approached many times by young men who didn't look like they were there to excersize or go to the library ask me for a lighter. And one guy looked like he was up to no good hiding his face with his shirt. Over all I feel there is always room for improvement where so many different cultures and walks of life come into a common place for positive healthy life styles changes read more
