Bouncy Obstacle Course on Free Admission Day
    Kristin K.

Came for September Free Admission Day and was blown away. All the pools were warm - deep, shallow, toddler, & lazy river! We also checked out the indoor playground - 2 thumbs way up! We took a peek at the indoor courts and ice rinks. There is a Jugo Juice and Good Earth (yum!) Clareview is lucky to have this fabulous new facility! I was surprised to see so many police officers here. There were quite a few signs posted about ongoing thefts (like don't leave your shoes on the shoe racks!) so I inquired with the police. They said there are 2 officers stationed here on weekends and sporadically throughout the week. There are at least 3 levels to this facility, several parking lots/entrances, and tons of places to sit and read a book or eat your lunch. They even have an EPL branch inside!

This is awe-some! Clap clap clapclapclap! This is awe-some! Clap clap clapclapclap! I must admit that we spent most of our time at the swimming pool, and it was fabulous! My biggest pet peeve in the world is cold pool water, which constitutes for 99.9 % of the pools in existence. This is among the 00.1%!!! This is, by a landslide, the warmest pool that I have ever had the pleasure of being in. And yes, that includes the A.C.T., for all you old schoolers. Granted, they only have one water slide, but it is nice and quick and you can ride it solo if you are taller than 40 inches. (My four year-old qualified, unlike Legoland) The slide also isn't what I would call super tall, so it doesn't feel like climbing Mount Everest to reach the summit. Did I mention how warm the water is? The swimming area has something for everybody including two diving boards, a diving platform, a lane pool (with a wall timer), the regular pool, a hot tub and a lazy river. The family change room is nice and big and boasts lots of bathroom stalls. I also love the fact that you can use the lockers as a pay locker OR you can use your own lock. Two things that I found lacking were that there wasn't any seating area other than in the change stalls and there wasn't a bathing suit wringer-outer machine. On a personal note, I can let these two shortcomings go. The facility itself has a huge indoor playground, a child minding room, full gymnasium, 2 full size hockey rinks, a fitness centre, multi-purpose rooms, meeting rooms, a multicultural centre school, an Edmonton Public Library, Good Earth coffee shop, a smoothie place and an outdoor artificial turf for football and soccer games. Bah gawd, this place is amazing! If we lived closer, we would definitely be signing up for a membership. The amount of amenities and classes are second to none. My only wish is that Servus Place in St. Albert would take some notes and consider doing an upgrade. If you should ever feel the need to take the kids out for a day and have them run amok like a bunch of screaming banshees, the Clareview Community Centre would certainly be at the top of my list. I know that I will be back. Did I mention how warm the water is?

All I have to say is WOW....okay well maybe I have a bit more to say then that but one cannot help but stand in awe at just how beautiful the north sides brand new five star recreation facility is. The massive building boasts a huge fitness area, basketball courts, volleyball courts, aquatic center, sheets of ice for hockey, meeting rooms, jugo juice, good earth coffee house, skate park, and baseball diamonds on the outside. The rec center also shares space with a new branch of the library. I don't think alot of people know about the new branch as it was extremely quiet when we went. They have a great collection of materials though with tons of room left to expand and bring in even more. We had specifically visited on Sunday to use the pool so I will expand a little more on that. Going into the locker room I was impressed right away with how on top of keeping it clean the staff appear to be. There is a ton of locker space which they definitely need as after two months of being open it was definitely apparent that the pool has become popular with residents of the area. The pool area itself is divided into several areas for lane swim, diving, and a shallower pool for young ones and families to play around in. They of course have a water slide like most of the pools in the city seem to come equipped with and I was pleased to see a traffic light system up at the top to let users know when it is okay to slide down after the person before them has gone. Something new that I have not seen before was the lazy river. It is a twisting lane type pool where you can float and have jets propel you around the course with little to no effort from yourself. It was definitely popular with both kids and adults alike. The life guards at the pool are quite diligent and they have enough of them on where it felt more then sufficiently staffed. At other pools I have always felt that older kids aren't properly dealt with and the horseplay often injures younger swimmers and annoys adults but I don't get that feeling here. Infact I only noticed two teenagers in the pool the whole time we were there which was a nice surprise considering how busy it was. Besides the lazy river I also really enjoyed the hot tub. It was huge and quite enjoyable to be able to sit and relax without feeling like I was encroaching on anybodies personal space. I really can't say enough good things about Claireview's brand new rec center and strongly encourage you to try it out yourself....you will probably see me down there as I plan to become a frequent user!

If there is an option to rate this gym a 0, I would've. This has been the worst service I have…read moreexperienced my entire life. I'm not typically the person who writes a review but it had gotten me a point where I had to so no one experiences such horrifying service. I signed up for a membership at April 10, it was recommended to me by my friend and told me that she is able to bring 10 people for 2 weeks free, when I got in there I was brought to an office and had a one on one talk with Peyton. I was shocked when they started offering annual memberships and payments, anyhow I proceeded to sign up. A day after I signed up, my grandmother died and I knew that I was gonna have to go out of the country to be at her funeral so I went in and asked for a cancellation of my membership, I kindly asked to be considered if possible to be given a refund back because first I did not use the facility, second it has not been weeks since i signed up. Later that week I spoke to this gym staff telling me to schedule a session and told her that I'm unable to do so because I already cancelled my membership and requested a refund, she responded "Okay, sorry to hear about that, I will let the management know" A few days later I called her and told her that it has been days since I cancelled and requested a refund but I haven't gotten any email of refund receipt or cancellation confirmation and she then responded "I will work on that today" To cut the story short I spoke with another staff on the phone and told me that the reason why it took them a while to respond back to me because of "technological issues" then proceeded to say that I won't be getting a refund because its been weeks since I signed up and that he said that's a plenty of time for me to visit the gym, WHICH IS A TOTAL BS because I cancelled it immediately but nobody just responded, then there is this staff saying she's processing everything. Overall, Worst gym ever, not properly trained employees with the rules, and not worth your money!!!!

GYMVMT GYMVMT (GYMVMT GATEWAY) Feeling extremely frustrated…read morewith this business and do not recommend this place to anyone, they are absolutely shady and are not being professional at all. On march 3rd I was looking for a gym membership and was pressured for 2 hours to sign up and and not only have a membership but also signup for a trainer and fitness plan and extra stuff that I didn't want or asked for, when I told them I was not interested I had my own coach that helps me with my fitness goals already they continued to pressure and suggested I let my coach that go and that I have to move on to the "next phase". I have chronic lower back pain that my coach is helping me with, @GYMVMT (GYMVMT GATEWAY) this place was recommending I should work out at least 5 times a week and that I will see faster results than the coach I have now could ever help me with and that I'll save "a lot more money" if I use their services even though I had already explained I only wanted a gym membership After being there for at least 2 hours I felt so anxious, uncomfortable and overwhelmed I was told to sign a digital pad and I was not shown or told what I was signing, I assumed it was the gym membership, unfortunately I had signed a contract for 12 months for a 24 week program with a fitness coach that I didn't want When I got home that day I checked my emails and found out I had signed a contract that I did not want and realize I had signed up for, I called the same day to cancel everything and say I was not interested, I was told I would have to pay $100 to cancel everything by 2 employees over the phone, so then I left reviews and noticed I was not the only person to have this issues like this with this business. After leaving my reviews all over social media I got 2 more phone calls from different managers saying there was no issues, they could cancel it and that I didn't have to pay $100 for anything and that they "weren't sure how or why I was confused and got that mixed up and that everything was good and they wanted to offer me a free complimentary workout session so that I wasn't left with a bad taste in my mouth" I assumed after that everything was dealt with, so I deleted my comments from their social media and thought everything was all good again Then recently I got another phone call and email saying I need to go back to that gym to give them a signature and today I checked my bank account and the gym has charged me for $80.80 even though I have not used any of their services and I had said I wanted to canceled and would be going to looking at other gyms. I'm so extremely frustrated and disappointed a business like this takes advantage of people and their time and money. I will not be deleting my reviews time and I can't believe a place like this is so untrustworthy I don't like to leave negative reviews but I hope no one else ever has to go thru this because it has been extremely overwhelming, confusing and complicated

Everything you need at a gym!…read more Hot yoga at this location has fabulous instructors who do a great job facilitating and leading the practice, it is not included with membership though. This newer gym has pretty decent layout and has all the basics - machines, free weights, squat racks, 3 bench press stations, and one of my favorite a turf section that has sleds to push/ pull. There is also a private section just for personal trainers so you don't have to worry about how busy the gym is when you got a personal training session. Tons of cardio machines The spin class and workout room both have a virtual function that has a drop-down projector screen and a select your own virtual trainer/workout just in case there is no trainer booked when you need your workout. They have massage therapy clinic and free to use massage chairs OMG ( they're very epic). I believe there's a health/ nutrition consultant as well. The vending machine there has protein bars and powder , pre workout, snacks and tanning oils for there two tanning rooms on site ( stand up and lie down) I would probably boost to a five star if there was an Olympic lift section...

It was nice cause there were one ten members so it wasn't over crowded. The instructor was great at warming everyone up before jumping straight into vinyasa flow. My only complaint is that the floors of this gym really need to be vacuumed, there seems to be rocks, hair and dust throughout the change rooms, gym floors and yoga room. It would be also nice to see some basic amenities in the change room such as hair ties, q-tips and face wipes. I will keep coming as it is a super convenient location just steps from the Clareview lrt station.

Due to capacity limits our friends were unable to join us and so we'll have to try again another time to go with friends but this first experience for a public swim was excellent! The toddler really loved the shark shaped flotation device to ride and the waterslide was a hit all around. The little kid slide was good too though it ended in deeper water than the toddler was used to... it was still enjoyable! The pool was very busy which was a bit overwhelming due to the pandemic. The other fitness areas looked good from afar. The family change room was great though the first locker we tried to use didn't work so we had to try another locker to secure our belongings. I liked the fact that the family change room had everyone change in change rooms which is great -- and it really wasn't a family change room but rather an all-gender/all-abilities change room for the pool which is a refreshing change! Having the lockers be free was great too! And the shower was okay. All in all the this changing facility seemed a bit too busy too but otherwise was just fine. I liked the hot tub and the slide. This facility is reasonably well situated for transit accessibility. Parking is tight but there's a great map for alternate areas if the lot is too busy. We'll be back for more community swims... and possibly for more eventually!

The in-water climbing wall is interesting, if a little odd. Pool is divided into kids' shallower pool with a few spray features and another for lane swimming, which is probably a good choice. The fitness equipment has moved upstairs, and the running track is suspended over the indoor soccer fields, which given the noise level there will mean runners will not be having any zen running experiences. Or their ipods will be cranked up high. There are a couple of multipurpose rooms right off the entrance area - one set up as toddler play room and another with tables and chairs which will undoubtedly host hundreds of birthday parties a year. The parking lot is quite small so when there are two soccer games on it will be crowded. All in all a very nice upgrade to the neighbourhood.
