If there is an option to rate this gym a 0, I would've. This has been the worst service I have experienced my entire life. I'm not typically the person who writes a review but it had gotten me a point where I had to so no one experiences such horrifying service. I signed up for a membership at April 10, it was recommended to me by my friend and told me that she is able to bring 10 people for 2 weeks free, when I got in there I was brought to an office and had a one on one talk with Peyton. I was shocked when they started offering annual memberships and payments, anyhow I proceeded to sign up. A day after I signed up, my grandmother died and I knew that I was gonna have to go out of the country to be at her funeral so I went in and asked for a cancellation of my membership, I kindly asked to be considered if possible to be given a refund back because first I did not use the facility, second it has not been weeks since i signed up. Later that week I spoke to this gym staff telling me to schedule a session and told her that I'm unable to do so because I already cancelled my membership and requested a refund, she responded "Okay, sorry to hear about that, I will let the management know" A few days later I called her and told her that it has been days since I cancelled and requested a refund but I haven't gotten any email of refund receipt or cancellation confirmation and she then responded "I will work on that today" To cut the story short I spoke with another staff on the phone and told me that the reason why it took them a while to respond back to me because of "technological issues" then proceeded to say that I won't be getting a refund because its been weeks since I signed up and that he said that's a plenty of time for me to visit the gym, WHICH IS A TOTAL BS because I cancelled it immediately but nobody just responded, then there is this staff saying she's processing everything. Overall, Worst gym ever, not properly trained employees with the rules, and not worth your money!!!! read more

GYMVMT GYMVMT (GYMVMT GATEWAY) Feeling extremely frustrated with this business and do not recommend this place to anyone, they are absolutely shady and are not being professional at all. On march 3rd I was looking for a gym membership and was pressured for 2 hours to sign up and and not only have a membership but also signup for a trainer and fitness plan and extra stuff that I didn't want or asked for, when I told them I was not interested I had my own coach that helps me with my fitness goals already they continued to pressure and suggested I let my coach that go and that I have to move on to the "next phase". I have chronic lower back pain that my coach is helping me with, @GYMVMT (GYMVMT GATEWAY) this place was recommending I should work out at least 5 times a week and that I will see faster results than the coach I have now could ever help me with and that I'll save "a lot more money" if I use their services even though I had already explained I only wanted a gym membership After being there for at least 2 hours I felt so anxious, uncomfortable and overwhelmed I was told to sign a digital pad and I was not shown or told what I was signing, I assumed it was the gym membership, unfortunately I had signed a contract for 12 months for a 24 week program with a fitness coach that I didn't want When I got home that day I checked my emails and found out I had signed a contract that I did not want and realize I had signed up for, I called the same day to cancel everything and say I was not interested, I was told I would have to pay $100 to cancel everything by 2 employees over the phone, so then I left reviews and noticed I was not the only person to have this issues like this with this business. After leaving my reviews all over social media I got 2 more phone calls from different managers saying there was no issues, they could cancel it and that I didn't have to pay $100 for anything and that they "weren't sure how or why I was confused and got that mixed up and that everything was good and they wanted to offer me a free complimentary workout session so that I wasn't left with a bad taste in my mouth" I assumed after that everything was dealt with, so I deleted my comments from their social media and thought everything was all good again Then recently I got another phone call and email saying I need to go back to that gym to give them a signature and today I checked my bank account and the gym has charged me for $80.80 even though I have not used any of their services and I had said I wanted to canceled and would be going to looking at other gyms. I'm so extremely frustrated and disappointed a business like this takes advantage of people and their time and money. Disappointing Experience After 7 Years at GYMVMT I've been a loyal member of GymVMT for over 7 years, but tonight was a complete letdown. I arrived at 10:30 PM with my little cousin, who was interested in trying out the gym with the intention of signing up. Despite the gym closing in just 30 minutes, we were told by the staff member, Gabby, that my cousin would need to pay a $25 drop-in fee just to work out for that short time. When I asked if we could sign him up for a free trial--a pretty standard offering at most gyms--Gabby wouldn't budge at all. Even when I explained that he was considering a membership and just wanted to try it out, she still refused to accommodate us. It's really disappointing that after all these years of loyalty, this is how GymVMT treats its members. I get that policies are in place, but where's the flexibility and customer service? Charging $25 for a 30-minute workout and refusing to offer a trial is just bad business. If this is how they treat long-time members, I can't imagine how they treat potential new ones. Went in for a 7 day free trial I signed up for online. They asked for my credit card which seemed normal so that they could charge me after the seven days. Instead they charged me a full sign up fee of $80 and when I questioned the manager, she said they do not offer refunds. Pretty shady way to conduct business imo. read more

It is incredibly difficult to cancel a membership, GYMVMT never responded to emails, there is nobody that Jesse Fallon could reach out to regarding reimbursement of my dues after the closing of my gym. GYMVMT would not provide ANY reimbursements for squash fees, even though there is no squash club anymore. If you need to cancel a session or a subscription (under contract, obviously), you will be able to easily do that, and if they are trying to keep charging you, you will be able to simply stop wiring the money into a different account with a different bank. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Came in as a member with my husband and friend, who both needed to pay the drop in fee. We told the lady at the front desk that my friend didn't have ID but she was doing a drop in and she said it was fine so my husband gave his ID and paid the $20. While we were waiting for my friend, the lady realized that she needed her ID for the drop in and said that we couldn't go in anymore because she didn't have ID AFTER we told her she didn't have it on her. On top of that, they couldn't refund the drop in fee my husband paid on the spot after he just finished paying because the incompetent fool at the front desk said it was fine that my friend didn't have her ID, even though she needed it. She couldn't even give us an exact answer of how or when we would be reached to be followed up on the refund payment or even apologized for it being her mistake. She told us we could go home and grab it and then come back like it wasn't a hassle or that someone could just send a picture of it, when the mistake was clearly her's to begin with because WE SAID SHE DIDN'T HAVE HER ID ON HER!!!! And maybe you should state on your website, ID is needed for the drop in fee instead of just stating they can pay. Thanks for wasting our time and having no sense of customer service. After being a world Health member for 5+ years I cannot wait to switch over to a new gym when it opens up! The gym maintenance is rediculous. The woman's washroom door doesn't not close or lock, and has been this way for over a month. 1/2 smith machines has also been out of service for months, the machines are constantly not working or out of service. The sponge/ cushion for the smith machine & squat racks are worn out and torn apart. The membership price is constantly going up without notice, which would be fine provided I knew where this money was going... From 19bi weekly to 31 bi weekly.... I would not recommend this gym, as they are not respectful of human rights, and will request that you pay fees in order to NOT use their services. Not to mention, the equipment is mediocre at best, and the layout is one of the poorest I've ever seen. I initially joined this gym, coming from GoodLife, based on the promise of never requiring masks to be worn in the club (like GoodLife did) that came from the associate that signed me up. I was promised our right to breathe air freely would never be compromised. This changed promptly after I joined - within 2 months. My account was then frozen at my request, based on the cancellation fee of $99 (for a service I cannot use). It was reinstated 06/2021 once the mask mandate was lifted. Cool. However, now we go through the same motions again and I've requested for my membership to be frozen. Here is the response I received: Currently we are offering the options below. Option 1 - You can freeze your membership for up to a maximum time of 1 year. The freeze cost will be $50 + GST. Option 2 - If you can provide us with a letter from your doctor, stating that you are not able to use the facilities, we are able to freeze your membership up to a maximum time of 1 year. The doctors note needs to specify the dates the membership freeze is requested for. No freeze fee required if doctors note is provided. So, $50 to NOT use the services, or go PAY to get a modified, specific doctors note - again to not use the services? Next request - "please cancel my membership" We have received your cancellation request. We are unable to process your request immediately as you are still within your Initial Term. As a courtesy, we have disabled the Automatic Renewal that was set to begin after your Initial Term had been completed. If you are looking to cancel your account immediately we do require 30 days notice which I can take this email for and we have an early cancellation fee of $99 + tax. Your final payment will be on December 2nd, 2022 and you can use the facilities until December 15th, 2022. So again, "please pay us to not use our services" Here is my response to the club manager: Look Bob, we've already had this discussion the last time this went down. Membership was frozen, then reinstated. Now we do it all over again. Except this time I'm out. I'm absolutely sick and tired of being harassed over masks at big businesses in and around Edmonton. Sure, they're only "required" while wandering around the club today. But in a few weeks it'll be everywhere at all times, then you'll close again, then it'll be vaccines, then helmets - who knows where it ends. On and on and on. So if you guys are not going to grow some balls as a business and stand up to the government (when it comes to these BS regulations) on behalf of your business and your customers, I'm just going to stop supporting you and train at home. That's it. My mind is made up. It's the same reason I haven't been to Walmart and many other corporations in 18 months - and don't plan to ever again. Go woke, go broke. So with that being said, I am doing my best not to be a male Karen here (probably rather unsuccessfully), while at the same time getting my point across. It would be in your best interests as a location and as a company as a whole to just cancel my membership without extra fees and let's go our separate ways and you'll never hear from me again. Club manager response: Thanks for being so clear and specific in regards to your decision. I will endeavor to be as clear and provide you the options to manage your membership. You are in obligation until December of 2022. If you wish to cancel your membership before the obligated term there is a $99 early cancelation fee. This early cancelation fee ends your obligation and you can then give a 30 day notice. Your dues will continue on a biweekly basis as per your contract. If you wish to terminate the membership agreement you can pay the early cancelation fee by calling the club to make the payment via credit card over the phone and give your 30 day notice. We cannot simply cancel your term and obligations. Hopefully this experience tells you the type of people that represent this company and this location. read more

This Club Fit (now World Health) is hands down the best gym in the city. Why? Here are the reasons: 1. It's the newest World Health club in the city. This gym was built within the last 10 years and all of the equipment is modern and in good condition, no other World Health club has better equipment then they do. Further, the building was built for the sole purpose of being a gym, so it is designed properly with excellent floors, lighting, windows, washrooms, drinking fountains,etc. A lot of gyms in Edmonton were simply crammed into old vacant retail spaces like World Health at Londonderry Mall and Gold's at Westmount and Northwood. These areas weren't meant to be gyms and the gym experience really suffers going to those places. 2.Excellent staff in this location. The staff are eager to help you out with your questions and seem to be more enthusatic and friendly than the staff at other locations. They keep the place clean and tidy, more so than the other branches. 3. Less people frequent it. Try going to the 34 ave or 170 ave World Health after work........good luck waiting in line to use equipment. Have fun trying to concerntrate with dozens and dozens of people milling about. Enjoy being crammed in the change room like a sardine. You get none of these problems at this NE location. If you are one of those jerks who goes to gym mainly to socialize, then by all means go to the SS or WE World Health as you will find a lot of your ilk there. But do us hardcore people a favour and stay the hell away from the NE location will you? We don't want your kind here. read more

Disgusting. Crappy Conditions. Dirty. That's how I would describe World Health Clareview. For a newer gym, it sure is falling apart. I work out frequently in the women's section and have told 2 staff in the last 3 months that the treadmill belts are slipping. This could cause someone SERIOUS injury - did they fix it? NO. Three months and nothing. I have seen numerous ladies get on, walk/run for like 1 minute, slip, regain balance, keep going, for it to only happen again and they leave to another machine. It is awful. Patrons have stuck their unwanted chewing gum inside the cupholders on the cardio machines and yes its gross, but none of the staff seem to care because they're not cleaning it and it's disgusting. There are old wads of different gum stuck from who knows how long. Makes you wonder what else they are not cleaning; bringing me to the shower stalls which are frequently so gross you don't want to walk in bare feet. Honestly sometimes because of work i have no choice but to use them, but wonder what I am contracting while trying to get clean. Hair, scum, grime - ick! Does any cleaning staff work there? TVs - lately pure static. Apparently they haven't paid their cable bill. For all you pay for a membership these conditions are atrocious. I like the atmosphere here. It seems pretty good. Sometimes the employees look like they are fooling around, like today, when they hang off equipment and play around. Also, this gym seems to have almost all the equipment needed for a good workout. A few machines need some maintenance(such as the ab machine... When you use heavy weight it feels like it's going to tip over & the benches on the main floor, they need more.) but over all this is a great gym and updated. read more

I sincerely ask everybody for reading this review thoroughly before you sign up membership for this gymvmt. I have been a member of this gym since 2019; however, during the covid lockdown in the middle of March, the gymvmt kept charging me for 3 months, which was not right, for I didn't use the facilities. When I asked them for the refund, they say there is no refund under any circumstances. They force you to use their facilities by "prisoning" your credits in your account. If you join the gym, they will keep charging you biweekly. If you withdraw your membership, they will bring their own hidden policies, which they didn't tell you before you sign up, to charge you for more money. So, for people who are planning to join this gym, please ask them for more details about the withdrawal policies, pandemic lockdown policies, membership renewal policies, etc. They charge you for every damn penny. read more

Not a bad gym... but not a good gym. I got a 2 week pass for world health and activated my pass at the north location. The gym itself is divided into 2 levels with all the cardio equipment upstairs. The bottom floor is benches, free weights and machines (but oddly I couldn't find dumbells on the ground floor). The floor in the gym area is really dirty.... I know it's winter but they also have a no outdoor shoe policy so I have no idea how it got as gritty as it was. .. I had to brush off my hands after every burpee... gross. They should sweep more often. The change room has a carpet floor.... seriously. I walked in and was hit with the stench of stale sweat. Why would you put carpet in a gym change room? They offer a towel service and have all the basic amenities you would need like shampoo and deodorant and what not which is nice, but I felt like I needed shower sandals for the carpet. They have a kids club which is to be honest their biggest appeal..... $10 gets you 2 hours of babysitting for 3 kids, and my kids liked it. The staff were all really friendly and attentive but I don't think I will go back to this location just because of the cleanliness... I'm hoping the other locations are better. read more

Been working out at Clareview World Health for almost 4 years and I must say that the floors are REALLY dirty...I take off my shoes to deadlift barefoot and by the end of it, my sock are black with dirt and dust. Pretty gross. They need to sweep more!! A clean gym is a happy gym!! read more

Great gym overall - it doesn't get very busy (there will always be a power rack available for example), staff are friendly, and they have some useful while rare leg equipment like a standing leg curl machine and quad and hamstring stretching machines. The 24 hr open policy is also very convenient. The only reason I have a 4 instead of 5 is because there's a couple of basic equipment I think they should have but are lacking - a decline bench near the dumbells (they do have a separate decline barbell press but not a decline bench to do decline dumbell flyes with for example, and a lower back stretching machine would be great too and an inexpensive addition to any gym. read more

I just started back at the gym and chose world health because of referrals from friends and family. I have been treated very well, supportive staff and helpful trainers. I signed up with Steph.R. to train for a few months and she is SO good at what she does! Full meal plan and workout plan made for me specifically, exactly the push I needed. World Health doesn't care about its clients!! They only want you to sign their contracts and take your money. I signed up and two days later broke my wrist.. I couldn't use the facilities so when I lost my job and wasn't able to afford it anymore I couldn't even cancel the account because I hadn't used the gym 10 times or been to the consultation or nutrition appointment, even though I was within the 30 day cancellation period. I had to fly out of province because my grandmother was ill. I was told I had to come into the location to cancel and then nobody would return my calls. Because I had no income World Health took my child tax credit so that I almost faced losing my sons daycare as well. Over 500 dollars in nsf fees and tons of stress, one year later and I get a 1500 owing notice in the mail and a threat of a bad credit score. What hurts me the most is that I never even got a chance to use the gym even one time and now I'm paying for it over a year later. I am really disappointed with the lack of sympathy I have received.
