Came here on a Saturday for my employer's charity softball tournament. Our team played against…read moremany other employers, and this park totally delivered for the occasion! With three softball fields, it's basically built for tournaments and pick-up games. Parking was a breeze--lots right by each field, and since it was after Labor Day, no parking fee (pro tip: fees kick back in on Memorial Day). We set up a BBQ and picnic next to the first field. There are plenty of picnic tables and benches, plus some coal grills. But fair warning: the grills are pretty rough, so if you're serious about grilling, definitely bring your own. The softball area itself is perfect for family gatherings, company outings, or just a fun weekend with friends. Good energy, lots of space, and an easy setup for hanging out while cheering on a game. Can't speak for the rest of the park, but this section is definitely a win.

My favorite is the 8 new pickleball courts shared with tennis courts but the primary use is for pickleball. The courts are lighted for nighttime play and always gets a good crowd. Other activities are as follows: Racquetball Courts Basketball Courts Jogging paths Pool Indoor ice rink Baseball field Playgrounds Dog park Archery There may be more activities available but these are the ones I noticed and have made use of. Owners have zero accountability and tell you their dog isn't aggressive while it's literally got its teeth sunk into your dog. The morning group of dogs is dangerous and people need to be warned.

It is here on early weekend mornings that…read moreyou can park the car, get out your 2 wheels and head South from the entrance to the 5-mile Ellen Ferrant Memorial Bikeway. The bikeway was recently the beneficiary of a $3.5 million upgrade, connecting Cedar Creek with the 4.5-mile Jones Beach Shared-Use Path. The bikeway, in turn, connects to the 3.6-mile Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway running east to Tobay Beach. A loop from the starting point, South over the 3 Jones Beach bridges, east to Tobay, west back to Jones Beach West End and return to Cedar Creek is a full marathon in length. Today, the weather was so spectacular, I doubled up on a portion of the JB boardwalk so I could grab a quick total 30 miles. Word has it that there will be an additional 10 miles added East to to Captree Boat Basin! This will be the perfect half century. So accessible and so satisfying. If your regular Nassau County South Shore ride has been Massapequa Preserve, I highly recommend that you mix it up , place this in your ride rotation and head down to this scenic path.
