Let me start by saying I visited the Mill Pond Diner in early December. From my perspective it is a classic local "blue collar" diner. Don't expect friendly welcome unless you are a regular. I was prepared early on to grant a two or three star rating, but the food was actually very good. If you are in any sort of a hurry be warned, they are not efficient. You may be served timely. We (the mate & I) have eaten here twice so far & plan on returning. He's had 2 of the omelets (one was the Viking & I forget the other one). I've had the same thing both times: 2 eggs over easy (they come with hash browns & toast) with corned beef hash. The eggs were cooked perfectly both times. I'm fussy about my eggs (I'm good cook myself) and it's very easy to mess them up. (Timing & temperature are everything.) These were great. Another criteria for a good breakfast is the coffee. The coffee here is surprisingly good: a light-to-medium roast with a slight sweetness to it. The servers are like the diner itself: a bit rough around the edges, unpretentious & "real"; and efficient at their jobs. Side note: the bathrooms are fun: the women's room has a retro/50s look, complete with pink tiles. It's easy to get to, either from route 28 or from Main Street. Parking is adequate for the size of the place; prices average for a diner. read more

First time back in many many years and while the look is....diner dated, the food was outstanding. My wife and I had breakfast, omelets with home fries, juice etc. everything was great. This is a small diner in Wareham serving breakfast and lunch items. Went here for breakfast today. I ordered the "Shangri-La" Omelete, which had crispy bacon, and American cheese inside, and came with home fries and a side of toast. (I picked raisin). To drink, I ordered coffee milk. The milk and juice beverages have 4 sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and XL. I got the XL, and it came in a big glass normally reserved for soda, which was fine by me. Normally, at restaurants like this, the "large" is still so small, I have to ask for at least one refill during my visit. Today, this was not an issue. During my visit to Wareham, MA in September 2010 my husband and I were looking for a place to have breakfast. Well we came across this place....Now mind you looking from the outside you wouldn't want to go in, but we decided to chance it. Ok inside didn't look any better than outside, but again we decided to chance it. We had to seat ourselves (no problem). Waitress was pretty nice. So we order coffee and breakfast. I've been to the Diner a few times, and I decided to bring my Dad with me for lunch last month. He's a local and loves old diner cars, so I really thought he would enjoy the afternoon. It's offseason, and there were only a few other locals having lunch. The waitress was relatively new (she said about 1 month) and proceeded to take our order. Nothing special ... burger, fries, coffee. The coffee was cold, and the waitress said she would brew a fresh pot. After about 25 minutes and no fresh coffee, I asked about our lunch order. She gave me a blank look and ran to the back. Apparently, my order was forgotten. Our waitress gave us our fries order to keep us going until the burger arrived. We had to ask for the coffee again. I was only going to give 1 star but the food is pretty good, so I'll give another star for the burger. When it did arrive (another 15 minutes later), it was eaten quickly. When I asked for the bill, I noticed we were charged extra for the fries. I explained to the "new" waitress that the fries come with the burger and should not be charged separately. No matter what I said, she told me that the bill was accurate. Needless to say, I will not be returning to the Mill Pond Diner anytime soon. What started out as a nice afternoon with my Dad ended up to be a frustrating lunch. read more

Since I am originally from CT, I am a big fan of diners. So while on vacation in Wareham, I stopped in for breakfast... twice. They have a few breakfast specials named after famous and not so famous local celebrities as well as basic breakfast choices. Service was warm and fuzzy, coffee just strong enough and the eggs were just so perfectly cooked, that I sent my compliments to the kitchen! Food was ok, nothing to write home about. The service was a bit slow, it wasn't busy at all so a little less chatting behind the counter may help with that. Not sure what was up with the coffee that was undrinkable. Sat at a booth and the seat was very uncomfortable, wasn't just that one that was uncomfortable either. Now here's a quandary! Really great food, generous servings, wonderful wait staff, unbelievably reasonable (cheap) prices, fast service, and in need of more customers! I had the fish fry. My husband had lasagna and salad. We both treated ourselves to chocolate cream pie for dessert. Everything was outstanding. I didn't taste the lasagna but it certainly looked VERY delicious-confirmed by my husband-. My fish was fresh (NOT frozen), moist inside its thin, delicious, and not greasy, breading, the french fries were average, but hot, and the cole slaw was delectable.I do believe the chocolate cream pie was homemade AND YUMFUL, including the cracker crumb crust! The wait staff was very friendly and attentive, but never in the way. We visited this diner last night. It's an old fashioned '50s diner. Not fancy at all. Very clean. Maybe it could use a bit of sprucing up, but without losing the authentic character that wraps you in its welcome and warmth! The food really is outstanding! Give it a try! Efficient, attentive and friendly staff. Waitress handled 7 tables and half the counter flawlessly. Food is good and fresh. Coffee is fresh ground beans every time a pot is brewed, please don't change that ever. Great value. Got seated fast and the food was there before we knew it. I enjoyed my breakfast . Was prepared as I asked and hot when it arrived. Who could ask for more. I can actually. There portions were small. I think I counted seven home fries . Seven tiny little pieces of potato. When I put the two eggs on top of the corned beef hash, it vanished. I think one of the eggs would have covered it. There was no wait and it was seat yourself. Our waitress was pleasant but rushed. They delivered the wrong plate to one of us and exchanged it but never apologized for the mistake. The food was decent we both ordered the onset omelette. The were cooked well but the potatoes were a little undercooked. The cheese roll was rather small and they couldn't mix a coffee milk to save their life. The biscuits were not the best we have ever had but ok. Over all it is a good place and we might stop by again if we are in the area. But the service was not the best. They seemed understaffed. read more

Sadly, I have been to this diner 10-12 times in the past few years. 8-9 times they have gotten my order wrong with few apologies. I always give them the benefit, wait a few months, then try them again. ...only to be disappointed. I always pay for my breakfast and tip, even tho its not exactly what I wanted. The food is good but that isn't the point. After today, I will no longer support this business. With Tenisha's comment as she came out of the kitchen with our waitress saying, and I quote, "if they don't like it they don't have to come back" is ignorance I can't ignore. This place give you pretty good food for the money. You get a lot of value for your buck. I'm a cheapskate and, therefore, hate paying $12 for an "okay" burger. This is one of those places that you make your "regular spot." Not the nicest place with the best food, but one of those comfortable places with decent food and exceptional value. This is where I go when I am too tired to cook. Waitresses aren't super friendly... they aren't the super excited Applebee/Chili's type of servers, but they are competent pros who will work hard and get your food to you in a timely manner. Mill Pond Diner is definitely not the classiest place in town and certainly not the place you'd take out of town relatives to for breakfast but that doesn't stop us from visiting two or more times a month! Two of us can always eat and be full for under $20 including tax and tip. In fact when I took my father there and family of six for Father's Day breakfast our bill came to be $36!!! The food is always delicious and hot. Service is diner style, barely comes over but we like not being bothered every ten minutes with someone who doesn't care! Whether it's breakfast or lunch Mill Pond is usual my family's first pick. Especially compared to the area choices which ya are more modern but the menu at Crack of Dawn or the ever owner changing Cranberry Cottage, Mill Pond has great tasting food for an inexpensive price! read more

Food was good. Service was great. Sat at the counter. Quick turn around, but didn't feel rushed. I went during the week and parked in the public parking right up the street. Went here with my wife for a Sunday breakfast, the interior was time stamped with its counter w/stools nice stainless back.The Diner looked a little tired; like it could use some sprucing up. I which the menu didn't have so many Ala carte choices and more special combos. I like French toast, eggs,sausage or bacon, with home fries. I had to choice from (3)different sections to get that. Home fries were warm and soft. I'm not a huge butter fan the French toast and raisin toast were soaked in butter. Sausage patties were hard and over cooked. Waite staff was pleasant and food came fairly quick. We probably will not be returning any time soon. read more

Of all the breakfast places in Wareham this would be my last choice to visit. Ive been here twice since ive lived in Wareham over a span of 5 years and both experiences were equally as terrible. From the moment you walk in the floors and tables are dirty and you can tell they dont frequently clean between customers. The wait staff isnt super friendly, they rarely smile or aknowledge outside of taking your order and delivering your food. And all that wouldnt be so bad if the food made up for, but it takes them alnost a half hr to get it out you. It was luke warm, over cooked or uncooked both times. The coffee tasted burnt and i could barelt swallow it down. I have no intentions of revisiting this diner. My reccomendation go to Riverside Cafe, its just a short drive from here up main street. read more

On my home from Hyannis in Cape Cod, hunger struck so I pulled into the next stop on route 28, Mill Pond Diner . Absolutely the best choice we could have made. Being greeted by a friendly smile and told to sit where ever we please started this experience just right. My grand-daughter had a highchair and the Mickey Mouse griddle cake was ample size and "Super Yummy " as my 3 year old grand-son exclaimed. I had biscuits and gravy with two cooked- to -perfection over easy eggs with homefries. My wife and daughter had omelets that were pan-made and they both ate every bit (which is rare for Evelynn, my wife) We had questions about the diner which the young ladies that were waitressing were knowledgeable and willing to tell us all about. We will definitely stop here when passing through Wareham again. Thumbs Up to the great service and home cooked food. We all left smiling as they wished us a nice day/ safe trip home. :) read more
