Fabulous and awesome doesn't even begin to describe it. The Mill at Rode is one of the best pub-diners for miles around and if you're in the area treat yourself to an experience.
The clue's in the name - it's a converted mill, the real-deal, with the waterwheel still (sometimes) in operation. It's easy to find in the village, and there is a huge car park.
Inside, you can choose from a wide selection of menus, much of it local-grown produce, and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the meals.
On sunny days you can sit out under an umbrella on the terrace that overlooks the river (really overlooks the river as in right on top of it!). On colder days you can relax in the warmth of the large wooden-beamed dining area - which one? Take your pick!
Great for geeks - the place is free wireless so you can chat to your cyber-mates whilst enjoying an unhurried meal and drink with your real-life mates.
Got kids? Not a problem as it's officially a family-friendly pub. Scoot them upstairs to the games room where they can play free on supplied X-Box, Gamecube or Playstation. Outside there's a child's play area, plenty of room for them to run about safely.
Catering for all, there's wheelchair access to loos and all three floors of the Mill via a lift.
There's always events happening, so check out their website for updates. Meal deals include their 797-till 7 offer with two courses for 7.97 (and I can heartily reccomend this).
I was taken there for a birthday lunch and have to say it's one of the most enjoyable I've had at a commercial venue. I've not been there in the evening yet - but that's definately on the agenda! read more
