    Great beer

Classic dive bar with lots of regulars in a busy part of town. The drinks were priced reasonable but of the 2 bartenders the female bartender was more focused on talking the whole time with a patron and offered no help. The other bartender male was taking care of everything meanwhile. It was loud and had great music. Big drinks and good beer selection. Just a little lacking in the customer service.

Great spot to grab a drink. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Good Vibes and enjoyed a comedy show show as well. Had chicken fingers which were OK. Overall good experience

The experience I had here, drinking a dark and stormy with the windows wide open on a gorgeous spring day in Philly, is what 5 star dreams are made of. I am excited to go back and try out more of the food items, but the bar is well-priced and they have a fantastic happy hour. This part of South will surely have a bit more foot traffic now that Jim's is back open, and Milkboy is a fab part of this re-renaissance. They have a great upstairs space here that hosts everything from comedy to cover bands, and you can't beat the vibes in the bar space as well. The bar staff here was accommodating, speedy, kind, and helpful during my visit, and I look forward to the next time I get to stop by.

Abby was our bartender and she's amazing! I was indecisive on getting the Philly cheesesteak from milk boy or Jim's across the street so I got both. They're both great. Can't go wrong. We went on open mic night. Great vibes.

Before a show at the theater of living arts, my friends and I stumbled across MilkBoy to get a drink and have dinner beforehand! MilkBoy is only a couple minute walk from the theater, and we actually had a view of the theater from where we were seated! Seating is pretty limited at MilkBoy, with a couple two person tables and bar seating on the first floor, and one larger table along with a bar and a couple two person tables on the second floor. My group seated ourselves at the larger table situated right below a TV playing Jurassic park on repeat and we scanned the QR code to access the menu. For drinks, we got the purple rain, citrus sinatra, watermelon cooler high, lancaster amber, and sweet child o lime for our first round. All the cocktails had fun names and we were reasonably priced, especially given the portion! For food, we ordered the chicken quesadillas, fried chicken sandwich, MilkBoy burger, and cauliflower cheesesteaks. Although the quesadillas are considered a starter, they were definitely enough for an entree and were very dense. The cauliflower cheesesteak was also very filling, and both my friend and I were unable to finish our fries. For our second round of drinks, we got chocolate pretzel shots, a green tea shot, and an espresso martini. The chocolate pretzel shot was sweet but nothing about its taste resembled a chocolate pretzel. One of my friends compared it to a maraschino cherry and loved it. Overall, the MilkBoy is a great casual place for a drink and food! My only complaint was that it was very dark, so it was difficult to see our food. However, the service was great and we loved our waitress!

I think the best things about this place are the location and having outdoor seating. You can sit outside, enjoy the weather and people watch in an interesting Philly location (there is a lot to see near South street). The food is regular fare, nothing memorable (except for the appetizer quesadilla that was definitely entree sized) or special, ok price. The drinks are a little hit or miss (my sister had to return a drink once because it seemed the mix proportions were off)...my margarita was fine. The service is relatively quick, servers are polite but not overly attentive or nice. And they accept cards (some of the surrounding places are cash only). I would definitely come back if I was on south street and needed something low key.

Didn't even know they had a location at 4th and South Streets. I was in the area with a friend today and it was lunch time so we stopped in. We were the only people when we walked in. The waitress was nice. We ordered and our food didn't take long to come out. I ordered the nachos. They were ok but something on them was sweet. I prefer my nachos to be savory. My fiend got a cheesesteak of which I took a bite and it was good! We also split waffle fries and Brussels sprouts. There was seating at the bar and about four high top tables. I'd go back and get a cheesesteak!

This swanky, hip place…read moreoffers up elevated tasty food and superb service in an exquisitely decorated, albeit small, cafe. We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

I felt like I ordered the wrong combination. I was able to do an egg sandwich and swap for sourdough bread vs eng muffin. Love that. Didn't love the copper sharp cheese that was a bit messy and tangy. I kept thinking they must have added some type of sauce on it. I'd much rather come back for a simple fried egg combo and chedda cheese. I was also offered sparkling water, but I do wish it had more fizz. The service start to finish was superb in friendly and fast service. I'd come back for mimosa/bar for sure.

Our favorite spot in Philly!…read more My husband claims that Claude AI recommended this place. We absolutely loved it! The entrance is so charming. With potted flowers all over the restaurant. Smattering of patio tables on both Eighth Street and Carpenter. When I saw it, I said yes before even looking at the menu. We ordered drinks at the bar and took them outside. It's very chic but also casual. There were mostly pairs or trios - no families. Not th. We saw people ordering a little bit of everything. Honestly, the menu looked great! The kale Caesar salad, the piri piri buffalo chicken dip, bacon wrapped plums, etc. The drinks were the best we had on our Philly trip! The Spanish Monk which had gin, lemon juice, frothed egg white and smoked paprika. I had the GGG which they carried over from their old menu. Can't remember what was in it but she said it was similar to Bee's Knees which is one of my favorite! There's self service still water and sparkling water in the back of the restaurant. Perfectly chilled. Perfectly bubbled! Such a lovely spot!
