My FAVORITE place to get Hawaiian food on the Big Island of Hawai'i, is a little food truck called…read more"Ono Hawaiian Food". They are located in the parking lot across the downtown shopping district of Hilo (in the park down from the KTA store and almost across Sig Zane). Look for the blue tarp with the 8 seats around a plastic folding table. The blue tarp is the give away when looking for it. It's run by Hawaiians, so you know the food is ONO (delicious). LUAU SQUID - My absolute favorite is the luau squid! It's made with fresh taro leafs stewed for along time with coconut milk and cut octopus. BOMBSHADIGGIDY ONOLICOUS!!! It taste just like the old days where grandma used to use the freshest ingredients to make the family favorites during dinner. A great portion (2 cups) served hot and steaming. You can get this with either poi or rice (get the poi!!!). $7.50 for the combination. Grade: A+ PORK LAULAU - super authentic laulau (taro leafs) steamed with fatty pork, salted fish. Wrapped in taro leafs and steamed for hours. Everything melts together because of the steaming. (Side order $4.00). Eat this with the poi and you have an authentic meal and tons of memories to talk about! Super ONO!. Grade: A! KULOLO - a dessert made of freshly grated taro root, coconut milk, and shreaded coconut. The consistency comes out like a sticky pudding / mochi. Not many places can make this old-time dish anymore. Found it here at the Ono Hawaiian Food Truck and glad I ordered it. You get a 4 x 6 slice of the dessert for $4.50. Well below market value (I've purchased this for double the price at other places). Grade: B+

Had a couple people in front of us waiting on our order but we didn't have to wait long. Got 3 orders of the double breakfast and my wife added the corned beef hash to hers. Paid with cash though I think I heard another customer pay via Venmo. While we were waiting a few people came to pickup phone orders and a few more came to order after us. I'm sure there are many regulars who come here. I think when one of the guys was ordering they already knew what he wanted. Definitely customer focused. Parking was super easy since nothing else was really open at the time. We just rolled up behind the wagon. There was enough food for 3-4 meals for me (I'm not as big an eater as I used to be LOL). Will definitely be back when I'm up that early again.

Park on Moaniani Street fast kind. Or in the Costco Waipio parking lot fast kind. Pay, grab and go! Then enjoy! Ambiance is casual and comfortable for a lunch wagon. I always try to come here. When I am in the area as much as possible. Support local businesses. I will be back.

***Please note: This is a review for the vendor, Earth and Turf***…read more I went to Mililani Eat the Street and stumbled upon this awesome food vendor, Earth and Turf with my boyfriend. I tried desperately to see if they had a website or Facebook page, but they don't have that either. (Update: They have a Facebook page: www.facebook.com/Growaloha.org) Unfortunately I couldn't list anything about them except they were on the Eat the Street website for Mililani (See website below and look at the #8 listing). (http://eatthestreethawaii.com/eat-the-street-mililani-is-on-march-12th/) At their food vendor booth at the Mililani Eat the Street, they were selling organic and locally raised mushrooms from Waimanalo. They also had appetizers like Deep Fried Risotto Cakes along with their tasty sriracha fried mushrooms. Their portions was ala carte. They gave us a sample of their sriracha fried mushrooms which wasn't that spicy! Coated with a panko crust and topped with mayo, this was the best fried mushrooms I've ever tasted! My boyfriend and I were considering to get this, but then saw the Deep Fried Risotto Cakes which sounded amazing. After careful deliberation, we decided to get the Deep Fried Risotto Cakes which came with 3 individually sized patties topped with mayo. The crust was made out of panko which made it extremely crust and was a nice contrast to the cheesy mushroom ricotta inside. Inside the ricotta was mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Normally, I wouldn't be a fan of risotto but I deeply enjoyed myself. This was one of my favorite dishes at Eat the Street Mililani.

5/5/26 Found it hard to believe that I've never been here considering it has been around forever…read more I was wanting some sweet & sour spareribs which I normally get from Zippy's but they did not have it as a special that day. I read online from several foodies that Ige's has the best on the island and it was their Tuesday special. Easy to find, behind Cutter Ford, past Napa Auto Parts to the end of the building. They are a hole in the wall with a huge parking lot that can get pretty full. I was fortunate to find one right in front. It was just after noon & I was expecting a long line but no, no line. In fact, there were only 2 people at each counter window. They also had some other daily specials so I decided on a mixed plate of BBQ beef tips and sweet & sour spareribs. Got to the window and the guy told me the beef tips sold out so I opted for just the spareribs for $15. I was greeted by 2 friendly employees, a lady at the register and a guy, who got the plates. Service was very quick and the prices are cheap to the massive amount of food you get. They mostly take cash and will take credit card, $20 minimum. The plates come wtih you choice of white or brown rice, and mac or toss salad. It also comes with pickled onions, but they'll ask you if you want it. After I picked up my bag, it was pretty heavy, at least a couple of pounds. When I got home, I wasn't wrong. The spareribs filled more than 1/2 the plate! Taste - hands down the best sweet & sour spareribs on the island, better than Zippy's. Flavor was spot on with just the right balance of sweet to sour. The meat was so tender, fall off the bone. Speaking of which, there were very few bones in this dish! Nice surprise since a lot of places serve theirs with lots of bones & meat is not tender. The pickled onions were ono! The plate could easily be shareable, in fact, it lasted me 3 meals+. Ige's is certainly a hidden gem - great tasting food, affordable prices, quick and friendly service, good value. You can also call in your order and you don't have to stand in the long line to get it. They have a separate window past the main entrance with a sign saying, Take-Out Window. I will definitely be back . Support local!
