Professional scam artists. I went there with my sister to choose a setting for my soon to be fiance. The initial experience was great. We chose a setting and 3 weeks later I came back to inspect the setting.
The setting was not what we chose. We chose one with 3 diamond baguettes on the side and they tried to give me one with 4. She tried to lie and say it was the same thing we chose 3 weeks earlier. After explaining the difference, the old lady behind the counter tried to convince me that I lacked taste, and that the 4 baguette setting was better because it was more expensive. I explained that money wasn't the issue and that I wanted what I chose.
She had some small, pudgy, female assistant working with her. She was defending the older lady and saying that I was off base in my arguments. I asked for a full refund and they denied it. Luckily, I paid with a credit card and was able to suspend the charges. After filing a formal complaint with the credit card company, the money was thankfully returned.
They have some blond kid outside of the door, and he will convince you that is the store to go to. Don't believe any of these people. It is a tourist trap. In fact, when I went to inspect the setting, there were 2 tourists picking up a ring they ordered. I overheard the conversation and they explained that the old lady had overcharged them! I don't know who was right in that situation, so I can't say for sure. But, that incident combined with my own leads me to believe these are professional rip off artists.
I had such a bad experience with these people. Every stereotype proved correct. If you want more details, friend me on yelp and hopefully we can connect so I can give you the details. Don't go here.
I ended up going to a jeweler in the east village to get the ring done. It was a much, much better experience. read more
