Wonderful service and great prices compared to the bigger chain stores. They are always very helpful and answer all of my questions.

If I could give this business less than one star I would…read more In FEBRUARY 2009 I brought in bamboo blinds (originally purchased at Paintland) that Gerry said he'd be able to help me get a privacy liner installed on. On five different occasions around April I called and on two of those occasions I left messages and was told I would hear back. "He's not in right now." "He's with a customer." "Try in an hour, he should be here then." No response. I called on 10.Jun.2009 (!!) Gerry says: ~$80. They have the shades, but they just put them on the back burner, that's why it took so long... Says to call him in a week. He's there in the mornings. He's had my blinds FOUR MONTHS, mind you, but I have to call HIM. But when I do call, he's 99% never there, and he doesn't call back. I did reach Gerry in person on Wednesday, 8.Jul.2009, he said that my blinds would be there that Friday, but because the blinds were so big they might take a little longer. He said he would call to let me know. Guess what? He never called. I called again on Thursday, 16.Jul.2009 and managed to reach Gerry in person. While he seemed genuinely conciliatory about him still not having the blinds, it obviously means nothing. He said he had other customers to deal with, as if I wasn't one. No surprise, he said he would call me. I said, with ire, "Gerry, we both know you aren't going to call me." He still promised to take care of me. Tuesday, 4.Aug.2009, approaching the 7th month, it's my turn to call again. Someone answered and said, "May I help you," because, yes indeed, Gerry wasn't available. I explained that Gerry made promises to me and he said, "The best I can do is have him call you before end of the business day." I said, "Clearly you've lost the blinds and you refuse to admit to it." Anyone dealing with Gerry's should know this is how you'll be treated: with absolute customer neglect. This place is in the TOP FIVE of horrible businesses. And since property of mine was taken and vaporized, it's safe to assume Gerry must be a relative of Bernie Madoff.

I have lived in many places since then and always go there for my wallpaper and paint. I also get great input for color and paper combos... Yes there have been moments of frustration there, however, it is a VERY busy place especially in the morning when all the contractors are in there. Jerry's always was your typical 'hometown' paint store. I think as the times changed they found they had to compete... I think, all in all, the transitions over the years have been slow but great. They believe in family there and for the most part everyone that goes in there knows each other or they recognize you from previous years of business. You're not going to get that at Home Depot or Lowes.... so you choose what you want. I choose Jerry's .

We ran out of paint partway through the job and went back to the store and purchased another gallon, same color. As the paint from the second gallon was drying we quickly became aware that the paint color was a about two shades darker with the second can. I brought the can back to the store and was told they wouldn't do anything about it until I brought both cans in together. Fortunately the first can had a small amount of paint left, so we returned to the store. They examined the paint and said they couldn't see a difference so the only option the manager offered was for us to purchase another gallon. He then stated we must not of stirred the paint and did not seem to believe us when we assured him we had stirred it. I invited the manager to come to my home to see the difference in color but he refused. After some 'discussion' he said he would arrange for a sales person to come out to see the paint on the wall. I also asked for his district manager's name and phone number.. When I returned home I went online to their corporate website and navigated to a phone number where I could speak with someone to make a complaint. She researched the appropriate person, which was the same 'Jason' the store had given me. She took notes of my complaint and promised to email him directly and said I would hear back from him. At this point about three weeks have passed and I have not heard a word from this 'Jason' and I also have not been contacted by a sales person to come out to my home to see the difference in the color. 1. Sherwin-Williams did not stand by their product 2. The store manager implied that we had done something wrong by stating we must have not have stirred the paint. 3. The store manager lied to me when promising that a sales person would set up a time to see the differences in the room. 4. This 'Jason' never contacted me at all. This experience has left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth. I will never return to this store and also will advise my friends and family to not go there as well...

At first they looked nice. Although this was approximately 10 years ago, the cabinets began peeling approximately 5 years ago, and paint has been chipping off ever since-on Almost all the the doors and on the back portion As well. I did not contact Dick until recently as my contractor kept insisting that this was no big deal. The more I look at my cabinets the more upset I become. My beautiful kitchen that I spent at least $15,000 on has peeling cabinets with the raw wood exposed! It is evident by looking at them that they are only going to get worse And worse. I have tried touching up the peeling spots for years but they only look worse and the touch up paint doesn't even match and I had it specially made to match the cabinets at a local paint store. The paint Dick provided me with did not match either. I might also mention that the color was supposed to be white dove, which is what the matching crown moldings above them were painted. They are two totally different colors. One is creamy white and the other is off-white. I Finally contacted Dick Munro over a month ago and he assured me he would come and do whatever needed to be done to fix the issue, and even said that I could trust him. Well he never called me back or came to look at them yet. I've called him several times and he says he is too busy but that he will take care of the issue "at some point." I only live in milford and have practically begged him to come over and at least look at them and also sent him pictures. Now I will have to pay someone several thousand dollars to sand all the peeling paint off and repaint my cabinets which I cannot afford. How could these cabinets peel if they were spray painted in his shop?? if you use this company you will not be happy!! I would like to have the cabinets taken down and replaced but I cannot afford it!

BUYER BEWARE - DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICE I don't typically…read morelike to write bad reviews but we felt like victims of a deceptive business practice that cost us THOUSANDS of dollars so we want to warn other potential customers from falling into this trap. We used Specialty Forest Products to source 5" Character Live Sawn Solid White Oak flooring. The actual product that we received was nowhere close to the samples. We know that there can be some variation in the wood, but the samples should be a reasonable representation of the actual product. However, the supplier never even warned us that the samples would not or may not look like the actual product. Not when we spoke with the sales representative over the course of many months, not when they told us there were no returns because these were not a "stock material" and certainly not when they sent us the invoice. We even shared the pictures with some industry professionals who confirmed that they believed we had been duped. It felt like they sent us the two best looking samples but we really received low character grade wood with our actual order. Please see the pictures and judge for yourself. We paid $8.25/sq ft, which was a HUGE premium (40-70%) to what we saw from other suppliers but we were willing to pay that based on the samples and pictures that were provided to us. A quick online search shows 5" character live sawn solid white oak for $4.79/sq ft to $5.89/sq ft from 5 different suppliers in the top search results alone. Even when including shipping, that still comes out to approximately $6.00/sq ft on average from these 5 suppliers. We trusted Specialty Forest Products because they had good reviews. Maybe those positive reviews are from contractors and not homeowners. I'm not sure. In hindsight, I now see a lot of 5 star google reviews with no write-ups, which is suspect. When I shared our concerns with Specialty Forest Products, our sales rep even acknowledged that they could have done a better job about the samples they sent us. Unfortunately, they weren't willing to try and remedy the situation. When I shared the online suppliers and prices with the sales rep, to my surprise, he noted that the product appears to be the same as what we received from them. However, he tried to argue that the wood might not be milled to the same degree of precision. In my opinion, a total assumption not based on any facts in an attempt to convince me that I haven't been duped. They got very defensive when I asked for a discount because I didn't get what I paid for. If the samples were representative of the true product, we could have made a decision to go with a different wood or grade. We could have even purchased 5" select grade white oak for much less, which was quoted at $6.30/sq ft at the time. It's an awful feeling to be scammed out of thousands of our hard-earned savings. We spent a lot of time contemplating these floors and decided to splurge since we would enjoy them with our growing family for many years to come. It's not like paint, where we could easily change it. Every time I see the floor now, it will be a constant reminder of all the money we lost. It's a tough lesson but I hope this review at least prevents even one unsuspecting customer from being taken advantage of. Please make sure you do your due diligence before making any payments. Make sure that the product matches the samples you received. Don't agree to any unreasonable return policy until you see all of the actual product first. Don't pay a premium just because you think you're getting a superior product based on the samples from this company, we made that mistake. As you can see, the samples are beautiful and consistent in character. Please note that they sent us two boards and they look perfect. The odds that that we would get two random perfect boards are slim to none. I believe that any rational person would suspect that this was done with intent. Also, the company sent us 7" boards, which would have higher chances of showing flaws, imperfections or inconsistencies, which these samples didn't. Compare the samples to the actual floors received. There are many ugly imperfections and the grains are even different from the samples above. When placing the samples next to the actual hardwood received, the difference looks even more drastic. I've included a picture of the invoice to show that I am a legitimate customer. PS - We couldn't see the wood we received until it was being installed because the wood was bundled and tied together. It was stored in the house since the supplier could not hold it for us and we needed to lock in prices. This was after multiple price increases due to supply chain issues. Because of the current housing market, there were long delays from other work in the house before the floor install could start. That's why this review is many months after the actual the invoice date.

When I asked for samples they provided me samples of a different item they delivered. Tried to charge me $1000 more for the better product. We hired Powell to paint the exterior of our home and their carpentry services to replace several rotted window frames for a three story house. Andre stopped by to perform the initial exam and was very thorough and knowledgeable on the work that needed to be done. Unlike other painters I contacted, the Powell team was easy to contact and actually showed up on time for the scheduled time slot. Their quote for the project came in right around the same as other quotes we received, and it was well worth the cost. I can't praise the level of service you get with Powell. Stephanie, who handles scheduling and billing, was on top of communications so that I didn't have to worry about anything. Even the owner, Bryan, stopped by at the beginning to inspect a few leaks we had in our ceiling to help us determine whether there were other issues beyond repairing the rotted windows for us to consider. They will even bring out the drone for inspection if you have a tall home. As additional rotted windows were discovered during the power washing, work orders to add additional work was clear and simple. Once the work actually began, it went so smoothly. Andre stopped by every morning and afternoon to check in and update us. Our crew, Thiago and Breno, were incredibly hard workers. They were at our home by 7:30 am every morning despite the terrible traffic and often worked past 7 pm even during a heat wave. The guys were experts on the ladders despite having a few high, tricky spots to get to. The worksite was clean after each day which I was grateful for as we have a toddler running around. The entire project took 10 days. While it moved fast, it didn't feel rushed and no corners were cut to finish quickly. They even paused the project for 2 days because of rain so that we didn't run the risk of streaky paint. After the work was completed, they insisted on us contacting them if we weren't satisfied with any part of the project. Our home looks completely transformed and brand new. I cannot recommend Powell Painting enough for a stress free and professionally done project.

Working with Powell has been one of the best experiences I have had as a new homeowner…read more I reached out to Powell to see if they would be willing to paint the basement room in the townhouse that serves as my movie room\home office. The color that the prior owners picked while nice was a bit too dark for such a small room. They responded to my inquiry the same day and arranged a date and time to stop by and look at the room. Bryan and Andre arrived exactly on time and took a look at the room. Super friendly, patient, and willing to address any questions and concerns. As part of the renovation of the room, I was planning on replacing the carpet and asked him if I should do it before painting the room or after. He strongly suggested to replace the carpet first since the installers tend to scuff the baseboards terribly as they are ripping the old carpet out. I followed his advice and did the carpet first and sure enough the baseboards were in such bad shape after that had I painted I would have had to repaint them. I'm so thankful for that. On the day of the job, Bryan and Andre introduced me to Freddie who would be painting the room for me. Super friendly, professional, and honest. After grabbing the paint, he laid down tarp to cover the brand new carpet and got to work on the walls. It's amazing how quickly he was able to paint this room. It felt as if every move was calculated. What's more impressive is that he conversed with me the entire time! During the end of day 1, Freddie called me over and informed me that the two coats of paint that the quoted me for the job would not be sufficient for cover the walls and they will need to grab another can of paint. I asked him how much extra would I need to pay on top of the quote and said nothing. They told me it would take two coats, it didn't, so it was on them to make it right. Freddie told me he already informed Bryan and he would stop by the paint store tomorrow to grab another can of paint on their dime. I wasn't expecting that at all but greatly appreciated it. In the early afternoon of the second day the room was done. I thanked Freddie and waited for the paint to dry before heading down to plan out moving furniture back in. It was then that I noticed that there were some areas in the room that we not completely covered. I reached out to Stephanie and she called back soon after and told me that Freddie would be stopping by again later the SAME day to take a look. True to their word, Freddie stopped by and took a look at the walls now that they were dry and he confirmed the coverage issues. He grabbed paint and did another pass on the walls which removed the old color. After Freddie departed I started to notice that that wall color is much much warmer that I expected. I tried various color temps on the lights to no effect. I took a look at the sample patch in the other room and confirmed that it looked very different and that maybe I might have made an expensive mistake with the paint choice for this room. On a whim I took a few pics and emailed Stephanie with my concerns. I figured at this point they'll I'm crazy and I didn't expect to hear back. After all, I chose the paint color, they painted the room perfectly, their task is done. An hour after I send the email I get a call, it was Bryan. He looked at the photos, and saw the same thing that I have seen, and he and Stephanie have been trying to figure out the root cause. It turned out that there was some miscommunication and an incorrect shade of white was used on the doors and trim causing white walls to become warmer than they should. He apologized and asked to send a couple of painters the following day with the correct paint to address. I already felt bad about Freddie having to come back so I told Bryan not to rush but he insisted. He knew I took the week off to clear out the room to get it painted, and he wanted to get the job done so I have the weekend to put everything back together so I can work on Monday. 7am the following morning Andre and another painter arrived with the correct paint and took a little over an hour to repaint the doors and trim. As soon as I stepped into the room the walls immediately cooled down. And the state of the brand-new carpet after they were done? Spotless. I love the room now. Snow like color make the room feel bigger and more comfortable. It's easily my favorite place in the house. If you're looking for painting service for your home and are within the service area don't bother looking anywhere else. It's not just the quality of their work (which is outstanding), it's their level of accountability. They will do everything to ensure that the job is done and that you are happy. They came back to my home at two separate occasions to complete one room and I didn't pay a penny more than what was initially quoted to me. I cannot recommend Powell enough and can't wait until I can get them to paint other areas of the home.
