I have mixed feelings about Milestone Granite. I recently remodeled my kitchen and put in quartzite counter tops (similar to granite but better). They turned out nice, but it wasn't a great experience. I comparison shopped at Granite Liquidators and Granite Direct based on Yelp reviews, and also checked in at Granite Depot out of curiosity because of their TV ads. Granite Depot has an amazing selection and beautiful slabs, but are ridiculously expensive. I visited Milestone based on comments in a Granite Direct review, and ended picking them even though they were a little more expensive because I thought their particular Taj Mahal slab had a better appearance. Both companies are competitively priced and get good reviews, and I liked the fact they both do their own fabrication and install, so your contract is with one company. That was important to me, because I didn't want to get caught in the middle if the stone were to get damaged during the fabrication or install phase, which is what happened. I also like the fact that Milestone had a very clear and fair contract detailing all the responsibilities and risks of both parties, whereas Granite Depot's representations were all verbal and not in writing. The fellow who measured my counters exercised bad judgement, and rather than dividing the slab into 3 pieces with 2 seams, he chose a configuration where there was only one seam for the installers to match up. However, that resulted in having to haul one large, incredibly heavy hunk of slab up a flight of stairs, and the installers ended up dropping and breaking the slab. Initially there was a little finger pointing and blaming, but they ultimately stood behind the mistake and didn't attempt to charge me extra--which really affirmed my decision to use a company where all the services were provided under one contract. However, I was then given second class treatment because they were underwater on the job and losing money. So instead of pushing my replacement slab to the front of the line for fabrication, I had to wait a week for the install even though my kitchen was torn apart and unusable. The other complaint is that somehow one of the angled cuts they made to match up to a corner that wasn't square was done incorrectly, so I ended up with a fairly large gap along one wall (see photo). Fortunately, my backsplash tile was thick enough to cover the gap, but it limited me on which tile I could use since tile widths vary. Also, even though we were fortunate enough to find a replacement slab that was supposedly from the same slab, it was darker and not quite as nice. As a result, it doesn't exactly match the two smaller elevated counters which had been installed prior to the main piece breaking. Lastly, when they were navigating the original large piece in the door to the stairs, they dented my front door. When I mentioned that to management, they made no offer to replace it. By that point I just wanted to get the project over, so I ended up eating that cost. So if I had it all to do over again, would I still use Milestone? Probably not, but based on other reviews I've read, I'm not sure my experience would have been much different at one of the other shops. Because granite slabs are incredibly heavy and vulnerable to breaking (until installed), it's a difficult product to handle. But once in place, they're great!

My contractor, Next Level Kitchens, contracted Denver Stone Plus to fabricate and install my…read morecountertops for my kitchen renovation. This was a new process for me, as I learned that the fabricator chosen for purchasing and working with the quartzite becomes a trusted partner throughout the process. Sue and Jerry at Denver Stone Plus are highly experienced, with a great design eye, and I couldn't be more happy with the results of the work they did in my new kitchen. I shopped for quartzite all over Denver, and finally selected Sauipe (that's the "color") slabs from The Stone Collection. Sue helped me comparison shop the price for slabs, and ultimately design the way they would fit into my kitchen. She has a really good sense for how to put the slabs together to create the best aesthetic while optimizing the material used. Jerry and his team does the templating and installation, and he has over 20 years of experience. He has uncanny intuition in determining how the slabs will fit into a space, even from just a picture. They both worked with me to create my custom kitchen, collaborating with my own personal preferences on the layout. They were accommodating to changes, and able to work through problems as they came up. Sue invited me to their shop to discuss exactly where to make the cuts on the slabs so that the parts of the slabs I liked best were highlighted in the right spots in the kitchen. This was complicated, I think, because I had an island and perimeter countertops, and a combination of 2cm and 3cm slabs. They built up the edges of a beautiful waterfall island out of the 2cm slabs, and used the 3cm slabs on the perimeter countertops, consistently flowing around the kitchen and up the backsplash. Take a look at the pictures. Their talent is apparent. I highly recommend Denver Stone Plus if you are looking to accomplish any stone work in your house (outdoors, too)! I have hired them to complete the vanities and showers for my bathroom renovations, too.

This isn't just a bad review; it's a plea to protect yourself from their lies, greed, and bullying. OUR NIGHTMARE STORY: We hired Sue Zhou's team for what was supposed to be a beautiful high-end kitchen. Instead, they lied about their experience, ignored basic professionalism, and left us with a over $15,000+ legal battle and a half-destroyed home. They demanded we buy extra slabs for "vein matching," swore they'd handle it, then CUT THE STONE WITHOUT PHOTO CONFIRMATION--a basic step any professional would take. The result? A hideous, mismatched island that looks nothing like the design. When we begged them to fix it, they GHOSTED US--leaving cabinets half-installed and stonework jagged. Our contractor tried repeatedly to compromise, but Sue refused to even admit fault. Then came the ultimate betrayal: They filed a FRAUDULENT LIEN on our property--a blatant lie to scare us into paying for their UNFINISHED, BOTCHED WORK. We spent thousands on legal and our lawyer proved it was illegal. THEY'RE STILL COMING FOR US: Sue Zhou is now using her personal injury lawyer friends to sue us--twisting the legal system to punish us for her incompetence. We've lost sleep, drained our savings on legal fees, and need to redo the kitchen because of their recklessness and greed. THIS ISN'T JUST ABOUT MONEY--IT'S ABOUT TRUST. We trusted Sue Zhou with our home, and she exploited that trust at every turn. She's not a professional--she's a predator who uses legal threats to silence victims. PLEASE LEARN FROM OUR PAIN: If you're considering working with her, RUN. Document everything. Hire a lawyer preemptively. And know this: She will not stop until she's drained you financially and emotionally. SHARE THIS WARNING. Don't let Sue Zhou do to you what she did to us. Protect your home, your family, and your sanity--AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

They operate…read moreon "banking hours", so getting there after work or from outside the 10-mile radius of Denver is very hard. Those of us coming from Longmont or Boulder, who have to deal with rush hour traffic after 3pm, find it almost impossible to get there unless we leave in the middle of the day. That's not usually possible for those of us who work for a living! They close at 4pm (5pm officially, but you can't get anything cut after 4pm), and Noon on Saturdays. Of course, they won't cut sheet goods at all (unlike Home Depot), so that's never an option unless you have the ability to carry 4x8 sheets. All in all, they act as if I'm doing THEM a favor by buying from them. I DREAD going all the way down there and only do it when I have no other choice. It's MUCH easier to go to and work with Rockler, even though they are further away from Boulder, because they actually want my business (unlike Austin). Austin Hardwoods would be so much more successful if they adapted a more customer centric approach. I guess they don't need (or want) the business from non-contractors.
