Bought 2 tie rod ends in April 2016 from this shop. Car had 131,000 miles on it. Paid to have them…read moreprofessionally installed,(85 bucks) Had 4 Brand new tires on it (450 bucks), and had it aligned (90 bucks), so over 600 dollars plus the cost of the tie rods, .8 months and 4,000 miles later, the tires are worn badly, one tie rod end is worn out, and the other has a cracked boot, so they'll both be shot soon. I take care of all the cars in my family (4) and I've never had this type of experience before. I called the shop, talked to the owner. he said I need the invoice, which I cannot locate. that's besides the point however, Am I supposed to shell out over 600 dollars every 4,000 miles on this car, replacing warranted junk with more free warranted junk? If you run a shop, your reputation rests on a lot of things, including the quality of your product. 4 months on a tie rod end when I've gotten over 10 years on other brands ? Gimme a break. Doubt I'll be buying anything important or expensive here anymore. Now in all fairness, I've used this store many times. The Owner/Manager is a true professional, he knows his stuff, is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They do carry some quality stuff. I actually feel bad writing this review, but when it comes to my money, time, and effort, I cannot afford to stand for a cheap ass part, I cannot be reimbursed monetarily or otherwise for the cost of the damage this has incurred.

This is a letter I wrote to Pep Boy customer service:…read more I genuinely want to thank Stephanie and her crew at PEP BOY on Scranton Carbondale Hwy in Scranton, Pa. On February 20, 2015 I was driving from NYC to Ithaca, NY with my son for his college audition. We were making great time. And then the car suddenly overheated. The temperature outside was below zero. AAA towed us to your shop. Our good friends, also going to Ithaca, detoured to pick us up and we left the car in your shop overnight. From the moment we walked in the door we felt well taken care of. My car came into the shop completely dry. No coolant, no oil, nothing, in spite of being checked just the day before. It could have been a number of things, ranging from a minor repair to a major event. Stephanie was knowledgeable, thorough...and honest. Stephanie knows what she is talking about. We felt like she really wanted us to be back on the road in a safe car. And that is what happened - at a very low cost. Not only that, but when we came to pick it up the next day, Brian gave us a ride to a diner so we could get something to eat while they took one more look to be safe. They even offered to pick us up after we ate. Aside from giving clear, informative updates, Stephanie sets a positive, friendly and honest tone at the front desk. We saw her interacting with a lot of customers, calmly answering every question in detail. That must take a lot of energy. I mean, nobody is happy about bringing their car in for repairs. And it was busy and late in the day. This could have been an awful experience. Well, it was pretty exhausting but we met some good people, and we got back to NYC... Through a major snowstorm...safe, tired and in good spirits. Thanks Pep Boy.

All in all the total came to around $2300. At that price I wanted to get another opinion. While the diagnosis was correct, the quote from PepBoys came in $1000 higher than another full service center. Labor and Parts were each individually twice the amount vs a shop on Wyoming Ave.

Summit Auto Spa - Lint from drying towels

Stopped by Summit Auto Spa for an automatic car wash since I had a coupon from getting new tires at…read morethe business across the street. When I pulled in, the employees were all hanging out by what appeared to be their personal and friend's pickup trucks. I had no idea where to go and they all just stared at me as I tried to figure it out. Finally determined where I needed to pull in and a young man finally came over to help me. I gave him my coupon and he had me pull forward and sprayed my car with the high pressure wand like most automatic car washes do. Sent me through the wash and I was not impressed by the machinery. Much of it appeared to be home built from PVC pipes and fittings with holes drilled into it. The soft scrubbers looked really worn and didn't move much, just bounced up and down slightly as you passed through. Machinery needs an upgrade. The worst part, however, was the hand drying at the end. Two of the teenagers came from oggling their pickups to wipe my car down. They finished and I drove off after giving them a tip (there's a big bucket that says tips thank you at the end, very tacky in my opinion). When I got home I saw all the lint. I have a black car and it showed the bright white lint from their drying towels very clearly . What self respecting "detail shop" would use cheap cotton towels? I can not imagine paying $90 for their professional detail package after seeing how they are cutting corners on simple things like drying towels. See my pictures for better idea of the lint.
