I took an extended journey over the rockies that towed us to 12,000 feet before cutting us loose. I was already taken back by the absolutely gorgeous mountains on the way up that I forgot the fun part was coming back down! The views of Boulder and the surrounding rocky mountains were more breathtaking than Keanu Reeves and we could see so far! We saw all the way to the top of Pikes Peak from Denver! The ride down was a quiet, smooth journey. I did ask the pilot if he could add a few bumps and tight turns which he was totally willing to do. Mile High Gliding was the highlight of my summer and by far my favorite thing in Denver. 10/10 would glide again.

I had a one hour gliding flight with Jason at Mile High Gliding that was just awesome. This was a bucket list experience and it turned out even better than anticipated. The Boulder area has exceptional views and our flight covered the city/campus, Flatirons and foothills from Coal Creek to almost Nederland. The weather was perfect and there were additional thermals off the flatirons and under some puffy clouds Jason read perfectly that took us back up for more fun. The flight was smooth and full of adrenaline (but not scary). It's not as quiet as I thought it would be as there is a fair amount of wind noise (it's like riding down the highway with the windows down). I'd highly recommend the experience and Mile High Gliding. All the staff at MHG were professional, helpful and friendly. Jason is a fine pilot and interesting/fun person. I'll be doing it again some day.

The last time I experienced the skies in a soar plane was more than half my life ago in another state. Recalling the thrill and peace from that time, I bought the S.O. an individual gliding experience for his birthday with Mile High Gliding over a year ago. He enjoyed it so much that he got us a double ride with these guys yesterday to celebrate our engagement! Therefore, this was my 2nd time dealing with this small company. Mile High Gliding is located on the north side of the runways of Boulder Airport. Drive too fast and you'll miss the run-down trailer that serves as their office. They have dirt parking right off Independence Rd. Walk into the trailer and you'll encounter a cramped space with a picnic table covered by magazines and flying paraphernalia. There probably was a bathroom stuffed somewhere inside the trailer, but I didn't look for it in this tiny "terminal," so I recommend that you should take care of business elsewhere before your appointment. The girl checked us off on the calendar and apologized that they were running a bit behind (15 min) due to the frost that had built up overnight on the canopy. Our pilot Elliot walked us out to our glider so we could help him push it onto the tarmac while keeping its wings level. Our plane was older, and because it had the double seat in the back, it wasn't one of the high performance ones. The double seat is behind the pilot; if I remember correctly in the single seaters, it's opposite so the passenger gets to sit up front and even get to pull the tow cable release. Luckily my fiancé (now) and I have small butts because this double seat was no larger than our single-seat couch: we were completely squashed in side by side! He had to put his left arm around me (awwww) for our shoulders to fit and align well inside the cockpit. Elliot showed us the air vent controls in case we got warm/cold, and then told us not to touch the brake or cable release handle. The tow plane was an old thing that looks nothing like anything I've ever seen. But both aircraft gained plenty of lift very quickly and we took to the skies in no time. The plane dragged us northwest. And oh, my love of flying returned! Commercial jets have taken the romance out of the experience, but in a soar plane without any engines, the pilot is in absolute control to find the best thermals, to determine which direction to go, and even what tricks to perform if he so desired. On my first flight many years ago, the pilot helped me experience vertical Figure 8s and plenty of barrel rolls in the sky. Though no barrel rolls happened Sunday in our 3-seater, we were still able to request what we wanted to see. My fiancé had paid for the Extended 1 hour flight, which took us over the foothills, Nederland, and towards the Indian Peaks and Longs Peak. The flight wasn't as quiet as I remembered (I think these 3-seaters aren't as aerodynamic as the high performance gliders), but it was the same gentle floating sensation as we drifted towards the Continental Divide. These views of the Rockies were from a perspective I never envisioned. Our pilot said, "I have the best job in the world!" and I couldn't disagree. Though it had been a cold morning and we were wearing down jackets, the tiny cockpit warmed up enough from the bright sunshine (I wish I had worn sunscreen), but we didn't need to open the air vents much either. We soared back north along the jagged spine of the Flatirons (and pretty close, I should say!), the CU campus and stadium, and downtown Boulder. Overall great conditions for soaring except for the fact that at this time of year, there aren't many thermals to catch. I did feel a little short-changed, though, as we hadn't been in the air for quite 1 hour. Still, the scenery was beautiful and the smooth sense of peace was astounding. These guys may appear a little disorganized, but they want to share this experience with you and are passionate about it. The do sell Gift Certificates. Great for all ages!

Awesome experience with amazing views of the mountains and Boulder. Our pilot was both funny and informative, and Ben is the GOAT!

I called three times to request a flight and no return phone call. Even if they were booked, at least give the courtesy of calling me back.

The Rocky Mountain Regional Airport is very busy and my son was having a hard time feeling confident to speak to the air traffic controllers. I asked if a flight instructor could arrange for my son to go with him into the airport's control tower to see how hectic their job was in comparison to my son talking into the headset. They said they had no arrangement for that. Unfortunately, my son took a break from his training. I pulled my $1900 out of his account when they told me it would not secure his place he went from 6th on their list to a 150th.

They told me that I do not have the skillset to become a pilot and that I should not fly. However, instead of falling on my face, I immediately finished my private helicopter rating in the third busiest class D airspace in the USA. I was finishing college in Denver, and did not want to switch schools and move cities. So, as HeliOps is the only rotorcraft flight school within 6 hours of Denver, I had to fly or drive 6+ hours to and from flight schools to finish my helicopter ratings. I have now finished all my ratings needed to be hired in the industry and have received a total of 4 job offers even before completion of my commercial rating. The instructors at HeliOps are manipulative and do not seek to create qualified, competent pilots for the industry. They say that you are the only one not making progress here (even though almost all students who have stayed at HeliOps to complete their ratings have up to 100 extra hours over minimums, or left and excelled at other schools). Another phrase they like is that students at this school end up with higher hours because they hold them to a higher standard than other schools do. However, students end up with higher hours because there is enough time left between when a student learns a skill (for example, an autorotation) and the next time they fly, so that their skills perish and they have to learn the skill again. Once that skill has been re-learned, it has now been 3+ weeks since the other maneuvers have been practiced and they have to learn those skills again. There are so many skills to be learned in order to pass a checkride that training can take almost an unlimited amount of time if a school is not focused on getting students past a checkride. I have used the same examiner for my instrument rating that HeliOps uses for all their students. They lie about the difficulty of the checkride, what items will be on it, and what the examiner will be looking for in order to justify the fact that they make many students repeat lessons tirelessly. The instructors of HeliOps have told me and many other students to see an aviation therapist/psychologist. If you go here, remember this review when they tell you to see one. To add insult to injury, a previous male Schweizer 300 instructor has been SEXUALLY HARASSING ME through Facebook Messenger. This HeliOps instructor has asked me to allow him to do sexual things to my friends and I, and when I did not comply with his request, he told me to go F*** myself. I write this review with the hope that at least one person will be kept from the pain and financial drain that I have been a victim of through attending flight training at HeliOps. Do not go to this school.

We finished taking the scenic drives around RMNP and went into Estes Park. I suggested we take the tram up the mountain before dinner. We arrived at the lower terminal. There's a parking lot available to park in for a fee. Handicap Parking is free. We went inside and bought our tickets for $35.96 each. There was no line to board the tram, so we went on out to the loading area. There's a gift shop here you can visit before going up. It is highly recommended to have a reservation (purchase tickets in advance)! Prices vary depending on day of the week and time. If you are a walk-in, the time slot you want may be sold out and you'll have to select an available time. Each tram accommodates 10 people. We had the car to ourselves along with the tram attendant. She was very friendly and we had a nice conversation. She lets riders in and out of the tram. The ride is fairly short (5 minutes each way) even though the tram doesn't travel terribly fast. There's an elevation gain of 1,029 ft. The upper terminal sits at 8,619 ft. This is a very smooth ride. The windows of the tram were wide open, which was great! At the upper terminal, there is an observation platform with telescopes, gift shop, picnic areas, restrooms, cafe, and a trail to the West Summit. The trail is .75 miles one way and is supposedly a fairly easy hike. There's a machine that spins fresh cotton candy and I had to try it! We bought a small bag of peanuts to feed the chipmunks, but it seemed like the birds got most of them. The view is breathtaking! We left the top around the golden hour and it was awesome! This was a serene way to enjoy nature!
