Rude, rude, rude! Why would I give someone my money who treats me like crap? I jumped through hoops…read morein order to take a certification class, only to have it postponed a week prior to starting. Upon expressing my frustration, and then my intent to posts reviews about the interaction I had with the CO-OWNER, of all people (maybe that's why he thought he could just treat me like that), these are the emails I received from Bruce: This a response to the owners response: he wants me to feel badly about someone who had a heart attack- someone I don't know- instead of realizing we had a business agreement and feelings don't factor into business. Why the course was postponed is no concern of mine. The fact that I paid for the class MORE THAN A MONTH before it began and I didn't get what I was promised is the problem. Instead, this man continually tries to belittle me and make me look bad (he says I registered for the class less than a week before it began. I've included my email receipt so you can see what a liar he is). He's obsessed with trying to make me feel badly about a health situation his friend/employee is going through, and apparently he wanted me to mention this in my initial email. When I failed to do so and focused solely on our actual business transaction he took it as a lack of empathy and still continues to bring it up in EVERY correspondence (I don't think all 3 emails I posted are showing- he sent 4 so if they do appear I'll add the 4th). It's too bad he had a heart attack, but the fact that they didn't have anyone to step in or take over teaching a certification program for adults, who all have busy lives, is bad business. Period. As for the rest, Bruce's emails speak for themselves. If you want to give your hard earned money to people like this, have at it. There are way too many other programs out there who will treat you with respect and dignity, regardless of the situation. AND who know how to conduct business.

RefactorU throws a lot of information at you in a short time, but in a really well-structured way so that you actually have time to learn it all, and learn it all well. I'm astounded by how much I learned, and how dedicated the instructors were to supporting our experience: from TAs who come in on the weekends to offer help, to being responsive when not-totally-kosher sexist jokes were being made in class (hey, it's the tech industry, right?). They organize events with employers and recruiters to help you make connections. They know they only succeed when their students succeed, and they are all about that. My only complaint is that, being as successful as they are, they have been growing a lot, and for my personal learning style, our class was too big. We had 33 people, so there were quite a few of us sharing the instructors' attention. It was also often a very loud work environment (33 people in one room), which for me usually meant having to choose between leaving and going somewhere quiet to get work done, or being in a room where I have access to help from instructors and classmates. Overall, I'm glad I went and really impressed by what they accomplish as a school. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

I cannot imagine my life now without the skills and the friends I made and learned at RefactorU. I want to thank everyone there for being there for all of us in my cohort! The course is first rate, and I wouldn't trade my time there for the world. Chris in particular is an AMAZING instructor and human being, and the material presented truly did prepare me well for a real-world job as a developer. I made some great friends and got a great job (only took me 3 weeks after I graduated!), and I cannot tell you how happy I am. I solve puzzles every day, design beautiful websites, and go home every night happy (and well paid!). Thanks to everyone at RefactorU, I love what I do and do what I love.
