I did a few lessons with this company. I ended up switching flight schools because the instructors…read morelacked experience and judgement. There were multiple instances where they would insist on flying when conditions were not safe. I think they are incentivized to not cancel. A perfect example of this was an incident that occurred recently where a flight instructor refused to give way to firefighting aircraft in McClellan, CA. I actually emailed the company owner, Shane, to bring this to his attention and he was extremely hostile and used profanities in his response. There are lots of places to get flight instruction, don't settle for a place like this.

I cannot comment on anything to do with the firefighting operations. However, I have been flying…read morewith them for several months and have made great progress. I had flown with two other flight schools and while I became proficient landing, they let me short-circuit my patterns. Here, I've learned to fly the correct airspeeds and vertical descent speeds in the pattern, so I have less to fix on final. Also, the previous school had dropped me instead of working with me to improve my traffic awareness. I have greatly improved my awareness flying with Aero-Sphere. Also, even the previous school had lots of planes and instructors, it always seemed the plane I had scheduled for that day was either down for maintenance or I had been pre-empted and wasn't going to fly. Flying with Aero-Sphere has been much more reliable. I've had two lessons scrubbed because of alternator failure, which is beyond their control, and occasionally scrubbed because of weather, also beyond their control. My preferred plane is N738HD, it's a 180 HP Skyhawk and gets up and goes. At this altitude, N734EQ is underpowered at 160 HP, but as long as you don't use full flaps, you'll be OK. EQ was converted from tailwheel to nosewheel so is a little more sensitive to rudder inputs than the usual Skyhawk, but that is a plus, especially if you plan to get your tailwheel endorsement. The best way to taxi EQ is to press the rudder pedal, relax the pressure and wait for it to respond, just like a tailwheel plane.

I was here about a month ago for a discovery flight lesson and I was blown away! Of course in part…read morefrom the rush of flying at an elevation of 6000 feet in a one engine, four seater Cessna, but also with the instruction and professionalism provided by Alliance. When I reached the vicinity of the Front Range Airport, I easily found Alliance on the right. I was greeted by two instructors. My instructor who turned out to be the owner's father was very friendly and easy going. That was helpful in easing my nerves some before the flight. We briefly discussed some of the details around the lesson and then went out to the hangar to check out the plane I was to fly. Now that I am writing this so late, I forgot my instructors name! Anyway, he walked me around the plane and described it a bit and gave me a general overview of aviation and how a small plane maneuvers. Next he asked me to get in the plane so he can get my seat adjusted and show me the controls. He named all of the controls and explained what they are for. After all of this, he pulled the plane out of the hangar so that we could get ready for our flight. I actually got to fly the plane! My instructor told me what buttons to push and directed me on maneuvering the plane each step of the way. He was such a good instructor, I was able to control the plane from start to finish with the exception of the landing. He allowed me to line the plane up to the landing strip and he took over until the plane was settled on the runway. My total flight time was one hour and this hour was counted as instruction toward my flight lessons to get my license. After we landed, we walked to the terminal to purchase my pilot log where he notated my first hour instruction. There were other pilots sitting in the terminal cafe chatting over coffee or lunch. It had a feeling of an exclusive club of pilots. The whole experience was exhilarating and so informative. I was on a high for a few days after! My instructor again was very down-to-earth and easy to work with. He, btw, was a pilot for Continental his entire career therefore, very knowledgeable. I recommend this flight school if you are looking to become a pilot or just want to take an hour flight for fun.

Absolutely fantastic flight! Stopped in for a pleasure flight since Alliance is an OpenAirplane…read morepartner (Google it; it's awesome!). Dave warmly greated me and helped me with the aircraft. CFI Don very politely went out of his way to ask questions and offer experience/suggestions to help make my flight the best it could be. After my flight, Dave and Greg (co-owners?) helped me tie down. Fantastic flight, fantastic operation, fantastic airport. Cannot recommend enough, and cannot wait for my next flight with Alliance Flight Training!
