I'm guessing they were both stoned. He didn't have a clue how to wire the new one, and after 40 minutes, he started moaning and crying, until he left after 40 minutes of doing nothing. He left a hot switch dangling by one wire from the wall. The second tech also smelled bad, and after a half hour, told me the new switch was bad. He came back the next morning, only to tell me that Lutron recommended having their switch first in the circuit, but when I questioned why, he left it in the wall. Three trips and $250.00 later, it was MY fault. Truly pitiful. It could not have gone worse. BUYER BEWARE. This is NOT the same Principle Electric I dealt with in the past. They were professional, reliable, and fair. Justin is no longer in the picture for some unknown reason, which they refused to share. Mike is shady and a flat-out liar.

I called Top Shelf Electric for the first time to get a quote for a pendant light that we had lots…read moreof problems with and to ask about changing some bulbs that were in 15 foot ceilings. I spoke with Ryan who was very helpful over the phone, he recommended using a handy man to change bulbs as it would be cheaper and also informed me of coupons that would apply towards fixing the light. As we spoke he realized he was just up the street from my house and said he would stop down and let me know if the pendant could be fixed or needed replacing. Ryan spent 20 min working with the fixture and said it would need replacing. He did not charge me. I will definetly call him when I decide on my new light. He was professional, polite, and explained what I my options were for replacement lighting. I highly recommend Ryan.

I initially had a positive experience with Top Shelf when they installed my AC and furnace…read more However, I am updating my review because I hired Top Shelf to look at my furnace that was not working. When they came out they pretty much immediately discovered that someone had shut off my gas. They were at my house for a little under a half hour and charged me $250 to turn the gas lever on. When I asked for an explanation of cost they told me they actually lost money on the call because it took the technician 45 minutes to drive to my house due to snow. They also said they lost money on the call because it costs at least $300 to have someone drive to a house and walk in to provide a service regardless of how long they are there or what the issue is. Obviously I had no way of knowing that it was going to snow when I made the appointment/my furnace stopped working or that the technician didn't live near me. I'm still not sure why that would be factored in to the price. I would have preferred to move the appointment if I had known I'd be charged more due to snowy travel times. I would have also like to know that it was going to cost hundreds of dollars regardless of the problem. I was very surprised because I had such a great experience with them before as far as pricing and explanation and felt taken advantage of this time. I value the work of electricians and technicians but $250 to turn on a gas lever in under a half hour seems very steep to me.

We recently moved to CO so I didn't have a preferred Electrician yet, so I started reaching out to get quotes and timelines. Mark Block responded to my request promptly and immediately gave me a quote and timeline when they could do the work. Every other electrician either required me to take dozens of pictures and fill out multiple forms on their website (assuming I was doing a first time EV install) before they would even respond or they were booked and unable to get to it for 3 months. Even after getting ahold of some of these other companies, they wouldn't quote the amount until they had "more time" to research it. This was a simple plug & play replacement. I chose Block Electric and I'm so glad I did! They showed up, not just on time but early. The technician they sent was Tyler, and not only is he a great Electrician but also his positive attitude, smile and efficiency was awesome. He immediately identified that I would need to downgrade the circuit breaker from 100amp to 60amp, he had one in the truck and did that as well. He cleaned up the work area afterwards as well, leaving it probably cleaner than it was previously. He was in and out in an hour and my charger is working perfectly! It was literally the best customer service experience I've had in years. Block Electric will be the first company I go to for any future electrician needs. Thanks to Tyler, Mark and everyone else there!
