We were headed from Londonderry to Okemo for a day of skiing and my friend wanted to grab some…read morebreakfast so we stopped at the Maple Leaf Diner. Just a little local restaurant that shares a building with a small market. Maple Leaf is utilitarian, nothing fancy, but service is good and the food just what you would expect. Since it had been a while since I had a good diner breakfast I figured I would get one of my favorites, the French Toast. My meal was 3 full slices with a little side of butter patties and a small bottle of maple syrup. I expected the French Toast to be a bit sweet, but this was more just bread dipped in eggs and grilled; it lacked the custardy goodness and moist interior I look for in the best French Toast. Overall this was OK, but nothing special. Maple Leaf seems like a nice little place with pretty good food, unfortunately I think I just picked the wrong item and my expectations may have been to high. If you are looking to grab some breakfast in Londonderry give them a try.

Definitely a place for the locals in the area. Friendly waitresses and good diner food. Took the BLT, Mike's beef vegetable soup, and Tammy's Cran-orange muffin. Got the BLT on light rye, bacon extra crispy and fresh lettuce and tomato, chips---it was delicious. The soup was also very good. Bite size pieces of roast beef ...a steamy bowl of this soup will be perfect on a wintry day. The muffin was also good. Orange flavor came through well. Great breakfast spot before a long country road drive.

There was a parking lot but we had already parked on-street prior. The interior was cute; there was a cafe and a few tables. On the other side was the kitchen area; they brought out the food to us on the cafe side. The place got busy after we got there; seems to be a hot spot for lunch. We got there around 10:50, they weren't serving food until 11. This was fine since they served coffee and that was priority to us at that time. I had a medium iced maple latte and it was good. For my meal, I had the chicken and waffles sandwich which were decent; there was crispy fried chicken, cole slaw, in between freshly made fluffy waffles. It was overall decent, but something was missing; I think that was some maple syrup or some hot sauce. My child had the fried Mac and cheese donut; it's a Mac and cheese shaped into a donut; this was good and a cute way to present food. Overall, a good spot to get some breakfast and lunch.

We learned that Blue Duck was previously a lunch stop, but is now a very classy dinner restaurant - 5 course tasting menu on Fridays and Saturdays with a fixed price. Each entree was beautiful, unique, very tasty. Ours briefly was 1) sweet corn, ricotta & pesto soup 2) seared Ahi with fried potato and lemon aioli 3) waygu with radish cream, microgreens 4) red gem salad with roasted beets and goat cheese, blueberry vinaigrette 5) Pavlova with berries and oat clusters Wow. The service was attentive and kind. The space was so thoughtfully decorated - everything from the lighting (gentle), to beautiful chairs/tables/dinnerware/flatware/decor- all adds to the beauty, presentation, and ambiance. We traveled here for the skiing, but found this gem of an experience.

Went here for a dinner to celebrate a family birthday…read more On the positives: They gave us a great private room with great art work hanging from the wall. Indeed, this is a big gallery (with a restaurant inside it) so its great for browsing, particularly if you're waiting for your meals. Food is fresh and very good. Had a miso soup while others had a potato/celery soup too. And a mushroom pasta dish to start was also tasty. For main dishes, the salmon was well done with an ample portion. On the negative: The service was haphazard on a busy Saturday night. Go on a weeknight when it is less crowded. They didn't fill out water glasses and seemed to disappear for stretches of time. Also, the "frites" on the steak au frites dish were cold and a plain pasta was a little al dente. Also, the place lacks air conditioning which is 95% fine in Vermont, except on that really warm day. Which was the day we were there. (I should note that our dinner companions had been there on the prior Thursday and said the experience then was spectacular, so the kitchen could've been a bit off on a dish or two). But overall, we had a very pleasant experience and one of the better restaurants in the South Central area. A definite place to go if you're looking for a night out..

Let me start by saying this review isn't about the food. I never got to try the food because we…read morewere told this establishment is reservations only. So to save someone some grief after driving long distances to dine here and be turned away...you've been warned, you will not find this information on their website either. I checked! We didn't go on a busy night, there was only 5 tables seated and the place was otherwise empty. The attitude that we encountered being told we cannot be accommodated that night would not be something tolerable in the hospitality business and we're glad we didn't spend any money here. We could have easily made reservations for next time if the guy did not let out a god awful sigh like we were I interrupting something. I'm sure the food would have been good, but the service we received was absolutely terrible.

They still have specific male- female bathrooms which could be made available to both or 100 of the new sex orientations. My only problem is their hours. Most breakfast places seat diners during their open hours. If it says 1:30pm then the staff can get out by 2:30. This restaurant tends to push people away - who are there for brunch - at about 12:15. Not sure the owners know how much business they are actually turning away since it's not apparent that once someone has been turned away over an hour before their end of day never bother to return. Also now that tips aren't technically taxed I would think employees would like a full day of work. Perhaps they need 2 shifts of wait staff and/or open for breakfast at 8:00am rather than 7:00. I moved to Manchester 3 yrs ago and have been baffled by the shortage of people willing to work full time or employers willing to add part-time workers on their busy days (Friday through Monday) There must be a way to keep staff and accommodate early afternoon brunch (10-2pm) diners. Manchester is basically a resort town that has kept its small town feel - which is a positive - but most restaurants in the area depend on seasonal diners. (Ski season, Fall foliage (leaf peepers, Summer equestrian, musical, play events and quiet during "mud season" so many businesses take a break some time during April/May. Manchester is an odd duck of a town - more New England than upstate NY or E. Pennsylvania. Some old locals insist on calling lunch - dinner and dinner supper which just confuses anyone who isn't a member of the DAR. (Daughters of the American Revolution) I have friends here who had relatives come over on the Mayflower - it was obviously a VERY crowded boat.
