I've been here a handful of times and service has been pretty good but today I had such an awful experience and won't return. I repeatedly told the technician I had a nail that was broken across the middle abs very painful. She was so rough with me and at one point stormed away and told another employee that I didn't like the drill. I also explained to that woman that the mail was broken and painful. Instead of completing what I had planned (a manicure) I just asked that the acrylic dip be removed and I would go elsewhere. I had the most wonderful experience at Nail Star! I walked in on a Saturday when they were about to close and they still welcomed me in! I had a tangerine pedicure by Ivy and gel pedicure by Tina. Ivy gave the best massage I've ever had with Amy pedicure I've received and my toes look perfect! Tina did the most amazing job on my gel pedicure and also gave an amazing massage with it! Basing the three star review on yelp's suggested impression of "it's okay". I usually go to castle nail spa off mockingbird, but wanted to try somewhere closer to my home in casa view. I was able to walk in for a pedicure at 6:30 pm on Friday and was greeted with a fair amount of nail colors to choose from. I opted for the star pedicure and was fairly satisfied. Main complaints overall: no drink offered like typical dallas salons, cooler water than I wanted (though I didn't ask them to warm it up), weak massage. The place has pretty much everything you need in a nail salon and is fairly no frills. It's a few dollars cheaper and definitely closer than my usual salon, so I would probably give them a try next time for good measure. read more

Came in early on a Saturday and was able to get a walk in. The place is really clean, but they had a small selection of colors for regular polish. They took off my gel nails, I got a regular manicure, and I gave a tip all for 13 dollars. I would say that pretty cheap for the most part. But you get what you pay for-- my nails are streaky, there are bubbles in the polish, and the manicurist did not put the top coat on evenly. Bad/rude service. Came to this place at 6:30pm since it is close to home, the sign said they do not close until 8pm so I figured I had enough time. As I walk up to the door, the guy(probably the owner of this place) whom was smoking outside blocked me and told me they were closed. Jacqui did a great job on my nails. I got the gel powder nails on my fingers.. she even picked out my color with glitter. She did not do the powder too thick or too thin. I am very happy with my finger nails. Jacqui also picked out a matching color for my toenails and added glitter to them. For everything manicure, pedicure and a very relaxing time $70. I was referred her by a family member because the salon gives a good pedicure. They actually get everything they need to, unlike other places that seem to rush though pedi's. I visited a couple times on a Saturday shortly after opening and had a somewhat pleasant experience. Today I walked in at 7:15 (door shows they close at 8) and after ignoring us for about 20 awkward seconds, the man in the front rudely yelled they were closed. As if saying to get the heck out. Didn't bother to ask what we needed or to politely say they were no longer taking walk-ins.... that is not how you do business. I've been going to Nail Star for years, and I will say this...it takes a while to find your favorite nail tech...Julia is the best..Seriously she always makes sure that I am happy before I leave and if i'm in a knit-picky mood she does not shame me for asking to fix something. I think with any nail salon you have to be able to advocate for yourself. If you leave unhappy it's possible that you didn't let them know you were unhappy because I've done this before and Kathy was all over it made sure I was 100% satisfied. I've been going to Nails Star for quite awhile now. Every time I go in whether it's for a full set or a pedicure. I'm always greeted with a smiling face and the atmosphere is always relaxing. Cathy and her daughter Julia always do a great job whether it's doing my manicures/full set or pedicure. They are always on top of it and coming out with the new and latest trends. And even when I can't get in with them two I know I can go to another manicurist to do my nails like Amy, Kim or Rosa! THEY ARE ALL WONDERFUL!!! I am a hairdresser and I am constantly under water and with having a little toddler you know things can get rough with boys cause they're so playful. I called ahead & asked if they had any technicians free so when we arrived, they got us in relatively quickly, which was nice. They didn't have a lot of polish colors to choose from but the pedicure was really nice. They did a long massage with hot stones too! All around a good basic pedicure place! I am not usually picky but I asked for ombre and it's nowhere near what it is supposed to look like. Its extremely uneven color wise. Also there are gaps where the powder did not catch onto my nail all the way. Aside from that, my nail tech was pretty rude, which is why I felt like I couldn't ask her to fix it. She rolled her eyes and got frustrated easily. She seemed very impatient. When I sat to have my toes painted, the nail tech made an extremely rude gesture as if my feet smelled horrible and her and another nail tech started laughing. It was extremely unprofessional and rude. I am a very easy going person but this made me so uncomfortable. My toenails are also painted extremely badly. Overall, a bad experience. read more
