The music was enjoyable but not overpoweringly loud, we were sitting in the same room maybe 30 feet away and had no trouble hearing each other talk. The taco Tuesday special was great--build your own taco plate! I was worried the ingredients might have been picked over or stale, but those typical buffet maladies were far from the 1764. All buffet options were fresh and well stocked. We arrive just before 6pm and were seated immediately, no wait. The place had a handful of open tables and bar seats available. The whole menu looked great, particularly the burgers and other handhelds (I was in a sandwich mood). Significant entree selection as well, check out the menu.

I ordered the veggie burger with a gluten-free bun, and the bun was toasted perfectly. The waitress also proactively mentioned that while the fries are not made with gluten ingredients, they are cross contaminated, which I really appreciated. Because of that, I switched to a side salad with balsamic dressing instead. All the salad dressings are all gluten free, and there were several other gluten-free options on the menu. For dessert, I got a gluten-free and vegan carrot cake slice. The atmosphere inside was cozy and had a brewery-like, outdoorsy feel. Overall, it was a really comfortable and stress free dining experience, especially as someone who is gluten-free and vegetarian.

I've had a couple burgers that didn't quite hit for me, but overall they're very solid. The cowboy burger with candied jalapeños is a standout and my recommendation. And very importantly, they actually cook the burger how you order it! The wait can get long, so come prepared. They do have an online waitlist, which helped a lot on my last visit. Service can be a little slow, but friendly. And the vibes are relaxed and perfect for unwinding after a hike.

Our table was very sticky and the restaurant had a strange musty smell.. Possibly due to the restaurant being next to the hotel pool? The French toast was delicious and huge but I didn't love the bitter berry sauce on it. However the side of sausage was delicious. My boyfriend got Brittany's big breakfast and enjoyed it though his eggs weren't cooked the way he asked. Lastly my water had a strong taste and most water I've had doesn't taste like that.. Having stayed two nights at the Kancamagus Lodge, I found myself compelled to eat breakfast here both mornings. Brittanny's Cafe is a small, country-style restaurant located within the Kancamagus Lodge Main Building. Attached is an outdoor patio for dining in fair weather. In addition, a wall of windows allow views of the indoor pool facilities at this establishment. Upon entering, a hostess immediately sat us, provided us with menus, and took drink orders to begin the meal. The menu offers a variety of options ranging from omelets, pancakes, french toast, etc. Apparently known for their unique omelet ingredients, I opted to test out the relatively tame bacon, ham, and sausage omelet. The bf tried out one mixed with peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, and more! Unlike many places who dice their ingredients into itty bitty pieces, these omelets are filled with largely sliced portions. In a few words, they were fresh, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. Day two, I ordered the pancakes with bacon, home fries, and toast. The pancakes were fluffy, light, and completely hit the spot. Bacon was cooked to near crispiness, home fries soft, flavorful, and plentiful. Lastly, the thickly sliced toast with butter was a perfect way to round out the meal. Bottomless cups of coffee made it a little easier to get going in the morning and search out the adventures easily found around every corner in NH. Service was quick and efficient, waitresses personable and accommodating. Almost all options on the menu were under $10. I wish I had the opportunity to eat here for dinner (as they do not appear to serve lunch) but will certainly keep this place in mind if I am to ever return in the future.

Cigar Shenanigans is a palace. The staff is awesome, the bar and drinks are great... but the building is the gem. It seems like an old restaurant like Chilis or the 9s turned into a cigar lounge, while still being inviting and warm. You walk in and to the right is an awesome bar with plenty of bar stools. If you don't want to sit at the bar, you can take a step down and sit in sort of a green house vibe with good seating. Or you can go toward the back of the building where there are plenty of booths and lounge chairs. There are enough tvs to be entertained if you want, but not feel overwhelmed like you're at a sports bar.., which is where I think the new owners of the old Cigar Emporium up the road from Shenanigans went wrong. I actually had a $25 gift certificate to The Lodge At Belmont from a local radio station in my possession for almost a year. I decided to use it tonight on a very rainy Monday night. Blues-ology was pretty quiet with just a handful of patrons here and one bartender running the floor. This bar has the atmosphere of a Southern style blue-sy themed sports bar with plenty of TVs (though not on) lined up along the high ceilings, big screen TV at the bar, digital jukebox, video game machines, electronic darts, and classic music memorabilia on the walls (Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Stones,...) . It sort of felt like being in Mississippi, but there was actually pop and r&b playing over the speakers, so I felt at right at home in Central NH. There's seating up at the bar and table seating. A small group of women (no hubbys) at the next table were really having a great time playing several rounds of electronic darts over beers. The food menu is the standard pub fare of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads, chili, chicken tenders, and steak tips. The bar is fully stocked and several beers on tap and bottle are offered. Miller Lite bottles are $2 all the time. See the menu at http://www.thelodgeatbelmont.com/index.php?option=com_phocamenu&view=dailymenu&Itemid=71 I ordered the Nachos with Chili ($8.99), The Lodge Club ($8.99) with hand cut fries & pickles, and a Hawaiian Pizza ($8.99). The Nachos were HUGE, a pile of warm crispy tortilla chips piled with a meat & bean chili, jalepenos, melted cheese, onions, green peppers, and salsa & sour cream on the side. The nachos were a big meal in itself and I was almost already full by the time the other food items arrived. The Lodge Club (triple decker) had plenty of thin sliced deli ham & turkey, crisp bacon strps, crisp lettuce, tomato slices, cheese, and mayo on toasted bread. The hand cut fries were on the soft side though and not salted (thanks!). The Hawaiian Pizza (10") with a firm chewy crust very generous amounts of thin sliced deli ham, pineapple, & melted cheese & sauce piled on good! The bartender was courteous and the service was laid back with staged delivery of the food to my table. I had the pizza boxed to go and given a box to pack up much of the food I did not finish. The $25 gift certificate was honored and the remaining total was only $4.40 with tax and before tip. Overall, I got plenty of food with my gift certificate. 3.70/5.00 stars

Most of my problems had to do with the kitchen. Me and two others in my party ordered the Buffalo Mac and cheese. Another ordered the beef tacos. Basically nothing came out super hot. But because some bites were cold, I do wonder if the noodles came out of a frozen bag. The beef tacos were also cold. They remade the tacos, so that was good, but the were a bit bland. They did not have enough of the noodles left, so they could not remake the Buffalo Mac and cheese. However they asked me to pick something else. I went with the boneless wings. Portion was very large and they were cooked to perfection, definitely tasted fresh and not Sysco frozen. Dad (92) stuck with Chicken Tenders which he DEVOURED. Thought we'd be taking 1/2 of it home, he doesn't usually eat much, they must have been delicious. We are just visiting, he lives here, I'm sure they will be seeing him often.
