Terrible customer service. The owner is an awful person and the food quality is in the dumps. The only reason he's around is because so many bagel stores in the area have gone belly up. His location just so happens to be extremely convenient for school children and school staff alike in the morning and afternoon. I've always loved Mikey's bagels. Recently the older women who works there is so so so nasty and rude I could not believe it. She was cursing to someone then I got my bagel she was so rude if she does not like her job or people she shouldn't be working there. After dealing with her nasty attitude I will never go back there. Digusted will never patronize this store again! Don't care how good the bagels are. Owner not wearing mask taking orders. The guy behind register has no mask. Noticed 2 customers men without masks and a police officer from 123 pct who had mask on was waiting for his order and doesn't even say a word. What gall all other customers were with mask on following guidelines where there is even a sign posted on front door to enter with mask. Highest Recommendation for delicious New York Bagels. It's no 5 Star restaurant (only reason for 4/5 stars) but I'd easily go out of my way to come back here. While on a mini-sightseeing vacation from Virginia with the family I needed to make good on a promise to get the kids the "best bagels in New York City." After scouring bagel bakeries on Yelp I decided to take a chance on Mikey Bagels. The only thing that put me off where a couple of scathing reviews that noted inhospitable staff (but good bagels. Go figure. lol!). Well, that WAS NOT our experience. The regulars and the staff, to include Mikey, couldn't have been any more welcoming/helpful. Oh, and did I mention how good the Bagels were? I suggest getting the French Toast Bagel as an egg and Sausage Sammich (Makes me want to buy a McGriddle just to throw it in the garbage where it belongs). Best bagel shop in the neighborhood, and possibly the best bagel shop since I left Brooklyn and having Dyker Park bagels everyday. They are CASH ONLY so bring cash or use the ATM located in the bagel shop Staff is super friendly- I want to relay this story about Mikey Bagels. When I first moved to the neighborhood I went in to get a sandwich. I was completely hungover and it was before I knew they were Cash only. I went in, ordered, went to pay with my card, was told I could use the ATM- but it was out of service that day. Scrambling for what I thought was going to be a semi-inebriated search for a bank machine when the owner steps up to me (Mikey? Lol), hands me my order, and says "don't worry about it- bring it to me when you go to bank". I was floored. He didn't know me at all. That trust and kindness would ensure I use them daily- it's an added plus that the bagels are great. Yes, I ate, slept it off, and brought them back the $ I owed them. read more

I should've listened to the previous reviews. At the beginning, staff was wearing masks. And then it was below the nose, until it made its way down to their chins. A customer came in without a mask and there was no attempt to ask them to put it on. The customer was talking to staff the entire time, again no mask, walking up and down the entire store. They were making our food with their mask either on their chins or below their nose. We ended up throwing them out and going to a different bagel spot. Living in NYC after this long being in COVID times, I am not only disgusted but appalled. It's really not that hard to wear a mask, especially when you're breathing all over people's food. read more

I have always enjoyed a Mikey bagel, it was my go to place when I was in the area. As of lately, during Covid I have been in this establishment twice and neither staff or customers are wearing mask or gloves when handling food. Although a mandatory mask sign is on the front door no one follows it. Incredibly rude! Oh the nerve...My class had an over night trip to D.C so prior to loading the busses we walked up to Mikey's for bagels, nothing out of the ordinary. As Im waiting in line I hear the lady of who I used to see working everyday when I walked up the block after dismissal, mutter not so under her breath, "Are these kids parents parents really too lazy to make them breakfast."
