Once we got it, the temps of some items were lukewarm. A couple of our guests ordered the pot roast special and complained about the really small portion of roast received in comparison to the vegetables. It was brought to our servers' attention, but she just stated that's all that came with the special. I ordered the Fried Liver which was adequate. The fried okra and broccoli casserole was lukewarm. Overall, the food was subpar. As far as the the restaraunt, it is older and outdated. Expect no thrills and although it's a "steakhouse", I wouldn't trust eating a steak here.

It's spectacular every time. The rotating menu keeps things fresh and interesting, and every dish we've had has been thoughtfully prepared and consistently excellent. The kitchen is clearly doing something special and it's a big reason we keep coming back. This visit, however, the service was unusually slow. Our dinner lasted about two hours (7:30-9:30) on a night that didn't seem particularly busy. There was a noticeable lull in the dining room with quite a few open tables, yet it still took nearly 40 minutes between finishing our appetizers and receiving our main courses. The pacing just felt off compared to past visits. Valet (which I understand isn't directly run by the restaurant) was also a bit slow -- about a 15 minute wait to get our car at the end of the night. All that said, Armour House is still a really special spot with incredible food and we'll absolutely be back. Sharing this feedback because we've had such great experiences here before and hope this was just an off night.

We kicked things off with cheese sticks, because let's be honest -- if anything can hold life together, it's melted cheese. Inside, you get that rustic, down-home charm -- cozy tables, friendly faces, and a salad bar fit for VIPs (if only the plates weren't the size of a Tweety Bird coaster). I got a burger and my wife got the steak salad. Both were great and VERY filling. I'm glad I got the sauce that comes on the burger on the side though, as I wasn't a fan of it - I'll stick with some steak sauce instead. The steak on my wife's salad was seasoned strongly with peppercorns, so if you don't like that, you may want to pick something else. We've also come here for dinner before and their steaks are great. I'm sure we'll be back - both for a good steak and to take advantage of their lunch specials.

It was just not a good experience. It makes me sad because we are back and forth to Birmingham several times a month and this place was our go to spot but not anymore.
