All of the employees have been friendly and pleasant. Also I'd like to say they double up at the register when necessary, as this speeds up lines. Make no mistakes it is a busy convenience store, but the folks working seem competent. As for the prices yes one will pay the cost for the ease of getting these items. A clean good looking store. The new Espresso drinks machine and of course being open 24/7 late nights is the reason why I'm back to use 7 eleven after almost 8 years of never getting anything from there! The Espresso machine at midnight is a live saver for me! Great Espresso it's really good for Espresso and late night! I also buy water , use the restroom and continue the night working on old Town! While I was in here, I asked one of the employees or owners about whether or not they'll update their products to be more wholesome and inclusive of everyone's food interests like the ones in Japan. He said there have been talks to do this. He said this one was just renovated in October. The service at the register was pleasant and welcoming. I asked to be transferred to whoever was on site, and she said she couldn't do that. The receptionist was extremely polite, but didn't have the information to be helpful. The self-checkout area is a masterclass in frustration. There aren't enough lanes, the systems look like they were installed sometime during the Bush administration, and half of them are usually "temporarily out of service" with paper bags draped over the screens like little brown tombstones. The line regularly stretches toward the back of the store, so forget "quick trip." The few seasoned employees who work that area really do try, but most of the self-checkout staff have perfected the art of standing nearby while being remarkably unhelpful. Prices, of course, are sky high--which might be easier to swallow if the place didn't feel so out of control. Shoplifting is clearly a sport here; you can literally watch people grab cases of beer and stroll right out the door. Handheld baskets are scarce because those walk out too. Outside, the loading dock area frequently smells putrid, and the seating area that's supposed to be for paying customers is often taken over by loiterers and left dirty and uninviting. It's not exactly the relaxing neighborhood grocery vibe they're going for. And then there's the parking garage. The lighting is dim enough that you half expect a crime drama to be filming in the corner. It feels dingy, not safe or welcoming, and the escalators from the garage to the store are out of service so often they might as well be decorative art pieces. For a grocery store in the heart of Old Town, this place should feel clean, secure, and well-managed. Instead, it's giving "municipal chaos with luxury pricing."
