I am so thrilled with MIKES PROFESSIONAL TREE SERVICE. As a retuning client, perhaps 15 years ago(+/-)... I had hoped for prompt assistance, & I was not disappointed. Right from the start my email was answered and I received a phone call from their receptionist to assist in scheduling an appointment with MIKE. The very next day I had a meeting to discuss the numerous trees, shrubs, branches, and limbs that I needed removed from my property. Not only did the communication go well, there were a number of terrific suggestions made, to clean up my landscape/property , that I hadn't even considered. What a fabulous experience!!!! I can't say enough about the timeliness of the appointment, the professionalism and superior CUSTOMER SERVICE. Luckily, for me, the quote given was within my budget ...including access to a monthly payment plan. I was told the work would be accomplished in the next few days and that I would receive a phone call to confirm. Excitedly, the company communicated and put our project up the for next day. There was a full team of men led by RABI who worked tirelessly and professionally to cut, trim, and execute the very styling I had requested. The entire staff was respectful of my property; I couldn't believe the PRECISION with which they manicured the trees in my personal oasis; you would barely have known that they were there, as cleanup was absolutely perfection. Very bad communication. Mike came out and gave a quote on Monday (first the desk person told me he would just be calling in Monday to set up a time to come out, what I got was a call from him on Monday saying he would be at my house in fifteen minutes, that lack of communication should have been enough of a red flag). He then pushed for me to schedule for the job to be done that Wednesday or Thursday. I told him I needed to talk to my wife as the job was going to cost $4,000. He told me that if i agree to it, he will put it in the schedule, but I can cancel it if needed, no worries. I agreed but asked for it to be scheduled the following week instead of this week. On Tuesday Night, I looked over our finances and other projects and decided we needed to push this project out. I reached out to Mike on Wednesday morning and told him I needed to cancel and would have to look at doing this in the spring or summer. He pushed to keep the job, when I told him I can't do it at this time, he wanted to know what the other projects were and then flipped out claiming the work was scheduled to be done that day (Wednesday, two days after the quote) I never agreed to have work done this week, he never reached out about scheduling for next week, like I had requested or even told me he planned to do the work this Wednesday. He just planned to show up without my knowledge or permission to be on my property and start cutting down trees. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

Very dissatisfied especially with their customer service. I had a brand new roof installed weeks before hiring mikes for a branch to be removed. They tore a section of my new roof off in the process. I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt but the shingles were left in my yard clear as day in the same area they cleaned up excess debris. When I called to bring this to their attention they said someone would get back to me. I never received a follow up call or apology for the damage they made. I know things happens but felt it was very unprofessional to ignore damaging a customers property. Will not be recommending this company to anyone. read more

After years of patronage, I'm very disappointed with our last experience with Mike's. Check my post history; I've raved about this company before, but now.... I called some weeks ago on Friday to schedule some tree work. There's a new person in the office, but found it weird she stated she had no record of having been at our home previously, although Mike's has been here 3 - 4 times. She gets us into the system and I explained that my mother is newly widowed. This is her home and she's paying, but I'll be here and will be part of the conversations as she's obviously got a lot of big things going on for her right now. I explained there's one specific tree that I really need Mike to look at because she loves it, but I'm not sure if it's roots are impacting the foundation to the house at all and we could really use a professional to tell us if there's any concern. The admin tells us that Mike will call in a few days to set up a consult. Well Mike called before 8 AM the next day, a Saturday, and nobody let me know. My mom had the conversation with him alone and showed him 5 trees/bushes she wanted cut. I don't know how that conversation went because I wasn't kept included as I had requested, but that's partially on my mom, too. I will say that Mike did have empathy for us having just lost my father, and that he was kind and offered my mother a discount. But after this, everything just got complicated and stupid. The appointment was for Tuesday, and there was horrible weather and heat waves around the same date. I can't recall exactly which was the cause, but our services were cancelled that day. I wasn't surprised they were cancelled, but I was surprised nobody called to tell us that. I called the next day to ask when we could expect to be rescheduled. The same admin as last time was apologetic and she accepted responsibility for the fact that nobody called us on Tuesday. She said that she would call us back, but my mother ended up having to be the one to call in to them each time to see if there was an update. It wasn't like this with the last office manager, we never had ANY issues with lack of communication or scheduling. A week and half to two weeks after the original date, the team shows up. Again, nobody told us they were coming. I saw the proposal Mike drew up, which they had with them, and I confirmed with the guys each of the 5 areas they would be working. They did the work and left. The tree guys are great, no qualms with them, except that they missed the biggest tree, and the one I specifically mentioned was the biggest concern. They didn't touch a branch on it. There's not a bit of sawdust on the ground, they just totally skipped it. I immediately took photos and emailed the admin back showing her that they missed an entire tree. That was on June 26. Today is July 10. Guess who has never replied to that email or called my mom to follow up on this? Never heard from the administrator or Mike about this. My 81 year old widowed mother, not wanting to be a deadbeat, paid Mike's anyway, despite the incomplete job. Despite the terrible scheduling experience. Was it because of the discount that we were no longer priority and we have to do all the communication work? I don't know. But she's paid for a service that wasn't completed and this doesn't sit right with me, so this will be our last time using Mike's Tree. read more

Mike was rude on the phone and unprofessional when qouting and scheduling the job, which was simply to trim branches damaged in storm. Calls and emails go unanswered and could not commit to a windows of time for arrival. Never did show up! read more

Great experience. We had 5 huge oak trees and 2 overgrown landscape conifers removed. Efficient and courteous. When they were finished, you couldn't even tell that they were here. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend. read more

Mike said his men would be by before noon time. I called at 1 and 3 pm. Both times were told I was next. At 3:35 Mike calls me to say the last job added more service. I told him I waited ALL day and no one called to explain the delay. He was extremely rude and told me "do you want us to come or what ?. or get someone else to do the job"I told him he was very unprofessional and he told me, " the guys are now on your street, I had a bad day and what's the big deal". when I told him we do not want his business he told me " are you fn kidding me now that my guys are there?" I told him I would never use him EVER again and will tell everyone I know not to use him because of how he was acting. I hung up on him!!! I have never dealt with a business owner who speaks to clients like he did to me. This was all to just cut dead limbs of my tree. What a scam! Mike quoted me $1000 to trim/prune a tree in my front yard. The quote was $600 more than last spring for the same tree which he denied. He justified the price by saying the work would take 3-4 hours. The crew was gone in an hour and a half, start to finish! Don't be a money grab, find another company. Unfortunately professional should not be in the company name. DO NOT request a free quote if you would like him to show up unannounced in the early morning (before 7:30 AM), tell you what should be done and does not let you express your thoughts/concerns. He was very pushy and insisted that he comes the next day to do the project. I called the office to tell them we will not be moving forward and the lady I spoke with was very nice. But then... 3 missed calls, text and voicemail from Mike.. he is not happy with us. When returning his call he told us that we wasted his time and to never call him for business again. *Some vulgar language was used. Before writing this review, I checked several others and seems MANY had very similar experiences. Very thankful we did not move forward with this company. Caution: avoid Mike's Tree Service. I don't normally do this but I feel so strong about dishonest businesses. Communication between what Mike goes over when coming out when reviewing what would be done for an expected price and what was conveyed to the crew was very different. I had to consistently supervise what was supposed to be done with the crew that came to the house. Had I not been there 50% of what was supposed to be done would not have been done. In the end it looked good but i shouldnt have had to supervise the crew consistently. They did not remove a downed tree as discussed as part of the expected work - they cut it up and left it just slightly in the woods and I didn't realize it until a couple days later. Job had been paid in full. When I reached back out Mike had the office call for a picture,i was told a truck would be out to pick it up. Four days later, no one showed. Mike then conference calls me with the office and now Mike is refusing to come get it, stating the plans was to leave it. I stood my ground that he was being dishonest, he told the office to record me and he then threated to hang upon me. Before I terminated the call I advised I would report to the BBB and take to social media so that people can be informed about who they are hiring. He then continued to call my phone FIVE times until I answered and he continued to be unprofessional. I should have know from the beginning when he told me I sounded "cute" on the phone the first time we spoke. I should have known better - creep Since telling my story to other friends I have heard other stories that would lead me to avoid their services in the future So unprofessional. He did offer to give me another quote for removal of the logs left behind .....what?!?! Believe it or not there are stories where he has been thrown off of people's properties for his behavior! He drove to Cumberland to look at it. Great. He sent his certificate of insurance. Great. Then, we speak w/ our neighbors. (They're flipping the house and gave us permission to take down the tree). They need it done by 9/6. Nobody asked this primadonna to do anything the next day. This date is 12 days away. Had an excellent experience with Mike's. I was provided with an estimate on Tuesday. Very responsive. Due to the fact that they were in the neighborhood, the tree was removed the next day! Was not expecting that, but it was positive nonetheless. The crew was very courteous and made short work of a large maple situated in my backyard. The crane operator was exceptional! We have used this business for many years on off. Have a few rental properties in a rural area it seems that we always have a tree that needs to be cut down or trimmed. One star because there is no option for no stars. This company is the worst unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Beginning with the job not getting finished, Mike tried renegotiating contracts and charging other things the day of the job. Then I asked for them to leave some wood and they piled large logs 6 ft high and I have very small children who play in the yard. Multiple stumps were left out of the ground in which he refused to finish. Added interest and fees while I am deployed. His workers told me he does this all the time to customers. He since then has threatened my wife while I am deployed and has threatened to steal property from my yard. He is aggressive and unprofessional. Let me first start by saying I got four estimates from 4 licenced and insured reputable tree service companies. Not one of the competitors could even come halfway close to Mike Price. Most of the quotes that I got wear double what Mike was asking and it did not include grinding the root. I had a giant Oak Tree in my front yard within 2 days the tree was down the logs were removed and the stump has been grind. Not only was the job done in a quick and timely manner but his professional staff was kind courteous and went out of their way to do all the cleanup which meant the world to me as I leave alone. Ok I had to edit my review because I am a honest yelper -as you can see I've been elite for some time and I have to say PLEASE DISREGARD THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS- they are appalling! I owe businesses I review nothing- but when service is excellent and I've been left satisfied more than once I am going to write a great review. They first get back to you right away and always do an estimate within 24 hrs of you calling. Their customer service is always on top notch. I appreciate the honesty in the estimate and Mike will always give you an honest opinion of suggested work to be done. The estimate is always affordable and he works with you to achieve your desired goal! After the estimate he always works to have his workers there the next day. The workers are always respectful of the property and they work fast! I never seen such a well organized group in my life! And every time!! There are three stages after you meet with Mike- cutting down trees, collecting the logs, grinding the stumps ( if you want your stumps grinded) and all stages are done with 2-3 days. Amazing group! My wife and I have been concerned about several trees on our property for quite some time. Our lot is small and the trees in question are very large and sit within a few feet of our house on three different sides. With the frequency and intensity of storms increasing, even a limb coming loose would have extreme consequences. So, any of the trees coming down in their entirety would be catastrophic not only for my wife and I but for nearby neighbors. Two of the trees had no reasonable access whatsoever. Both trees existed in an 8 foot swath between my property and another house, far away from any street. With no real contact or knowledge of anyone in the tree removal business, I decided to reach out to Mike's Tree Service, simply because a coworker mentioned hiring them 10 years ago. I did not have any recollection of the coworkers' satisfaction or the quality of the work that was done when it happened. (I did read some online reviews of Mike's Tree Service prior to calling, more on this later) Either way, my wife and I decided to get the ball rolling, with the sole purpose of gaining an understanding of price and process. Honestly, we didn't think it would be economically or logistically reasonable at that point in time. I called and spoke with a lady this past month who was pleasant, thorough and answered many of my questions. She assured me that Mike, the owner, would be by within 24 hours to provide a quote. The very next morning, while I was at work, Mike called and was in my yard talking me through what he felt was the best plan of action. Many of my suspicions were confirmed without having any prior discussion with him. Mike did not attempt to up sell any other work or suggest any other trees to be removed besides what he felt (and I agreed) could become a potential danger at any point in time. Logistically, two of the huge trees could only be accessed and removed with a crane. He indicated all trees would be cut low and all debris removed from the yard. I was happy with the assessment but truly did not plan to be in a position to commit to the job that day based on my inaccurate assumption of industry costs and availability for tree removal. I was genuinely shocked by the affordable estimate and the option of paying in installments. I'm generally a little skeptical and inquisitive by nature so I asked him how he is able to arrive at such a price in an attempt to protect myself from some sort of dishonest upcharge later on. He actually took the time to explain how he prices jobs. He talked about equipment, time, workers, travel, etc. It all made sense and at the end of the conversation I felt like both of us were getting a fair shake. I'm never looking to low ball anyone nor am I looking to overpay. Mike and his team delivered EXACTLY as promised. In fact, I'm still in awe at the ease and professionalism my wife and I experienced. I'm not sure it could have gone any better. This was not a straightforward tree removal. Prior to actually making a phone call, we truly believed this was going to be a painful process and maybe even out of reach for the foreseeable future. We were completely wrong. I cannot recommend this company enough. Had I relied entirely on online reviews I'm not sure I would have been as comfortable calling them as I normally would. The company definitely has many more positive reviews than negative ones. I'm of a certain age where I clearly remember a world prior to faceless, often one-sided, out of context "reviews". I feel like companies are at a disadvantage in this world. People who are satisfied are far less likely to take the time to write a positive review and those who write a negative review oftentimes are not telling the whole story and are not held accountable for any supporting information to back their claim. Simply put, people sometimes are unwilling to acknowledge their own role in a negative experience. Good people and good companies can have bad experiences. Would definitely recommend Mike's tree service. I have used them three times over the past few years. They've pruned our magnolia tree twice (with care!!). They've also trimmed our hedges in the backyard and three bushes in the front yard. Whenever I contact them they are responsive. Mike is very matter-of-fact yet personable. He shows up At the time he says he'll show up. His prices are very fair and reasonable-and they do quality work. Most recently ( a few days ago) they pruned Our magnolia tree. My neighbor had a towering box elder that wasn't impacting her house but was practically eating mine. Mike's crew took down some trees at a different neighbor's house. I called. He quickly came over & gave me a great estimate. The first date he suggested didn't work for us and then Henri hit Rhode Island and Mike got super busy. I followed up with his office and just asked that the tree be taken down before the next storm. His crew showed up on very short notice and the tree was down within hours, using a combination of chain saws and a bucket truck. His team cleaned up all of the branches and logs super quickly, even sweeping away the sawdust. I would have appreciated at least 48 hours notice of their arrival (my neighbor had work calls) but the work was good and, most importantly, the tree, in a very tight space surrounded by power lines and in a narrow space between two houses, is now safely gone. read more

We had a cord of wood delivered a week ago. I called and explained to Eileen that i was disappointed. Not disappointed because if the quantity of wood which was fair. I was disappointed in the condition the wood arrived in. It appeared that they scraped the bottom of the barrel for it. After I was done stacking the wood in the wood shed, I picked up two 5' tractor buckets full of mud. The wood was filthy. Now, after a week of trying to burn the wood, it is obviously not seasoned. Every piece sizzles with sap running out the ends. After discussing with Eileen, she took my phone number to call me back. The call never came. Honestly, I thought they were great. Reasonably priced too. They came and assessed the job one day, and were there cutting down our tree the next day! That same day, the logs were picked up and removed from our yard, and the trunk chopper was there that same day as well. They were quick, effective, and it looks great! We had them come on two occasions. The first time they removed three trees and had a crane to slowly lower the tree trunks/limbs to the ground. This kept our ground in tact and very pleased with the work. Unfortunately, the second time they allowed the tree to just fall towards the ground. As a result, the ground was, well....not in the best shape. However, I called and they came back to help fix the lawn to their best ability. Now just waiting for Spring to come to work on growing some grass! I would recommend them. read more

not recommended, Shows up unannounced to give estimate, rushes the home owner, does not allow homeowner to describe the job. As a result, some of the work was not shown. "I'll be here monday, only call me if that's not good." Called to negotiate the missed work, reset the price. Asked for written estimate because others have said he has shown up and renegotiated the job. "you know what, this getting to be too much... I don't want the job..." So he pulled out of the job. I am actually glad he did. Because of his demeanor I had no confidence in his work. Objection to written estimate is telling. Suggest you not call them unless you are capable of dealing with objectionable people. read more
