I have used Stanley Tree services a few times and every time I was pleased with their work. As a horticulturalist, I am very picky about how a tree is pruned and shaped and they listened to what I wanted for my trees and complied. They are great with climbing, using ropes and saws and landed some major branches in very tight places without damaging my extensive gardens. They also took down a 50 foot hemlock that bordered mine and my neighbor's property and cleaned up afterwards. It required a crane and neither my lawn or my neighbor's was damaged at all. I would not hesitate to call them to do more work at my property and plan to have them back next year. read more

They did work at a neighbor's house and drove over my lawn to get in his driveway. Another neighbor witnessed it and called me. I contacted them to have them repair the damage they had done. The woman who answered said she would talk to the driver and get back to me. I called again with no response. Needless to say I had to pay to fix it myself. read more

Stanley Tree Service provided downed tree removal after a storm and a few weeks later returned to provide tree maintenance and removal. The 2 different people that did the estimates for the jobs were thoughtful and explained what was recommended and listened and responded to our questions. Despite the hiccuping in scheduling (a weird no show??), these guys went above and beyond for me. they noticed a hornet's nest on my roof and sprayed the hell out of it for me. that was brave and totally unexpectedly kind to do. i would have been incredibly scared to piss off hornets in a cherry picker lol. anyway, they did the job (cutting three trees, all in inconvenient locations) lightning fast and hauled away the wood. no problems at all. already thinking of bringing them back for round 2 to deal with another crappy tree in my stupid yard. read more

Stanley Tree Service took down three huge oak trees from our yard that were becoming dangerous and had begun causing us several other problems. We were extremely happy with the whole process from their onsite estimate through completion that included grinding the stumps. The noise levels throughout were far less than we had expected, and the crew cleaned up our yard and our neighbor's very well. The price was in line with and below our other two estimates - which we felt was very fair considering the amount of work to be done. This company and their employees are dishonest. One of their drivers pulled out in front of my car and their trailer took off the front end drivers side of my car. They were nice to my face but then refused to communicate with my insurance and denied responsibility. The damage was so bad, my car was totaled! I would never hire them to do my tree work for fear that if there was an issue their insurance would deny the claim! read more

I just bought a house and John came out to give me a quote on cutting some trees back from the roof plus some other stuff I wanted done (bush removed, ivy removal). He also gave me some recommendations for future tree care and taught me about my new property. You can tell he knows about trees!! Quite literally amazing service. Large oak tree split off from trunk and landed on the roof at midnight. Stanley came out first thing in the morning to provide an estimate--no pressure. When authorized, they came back with the crane, bucket and the professionals. It was incredible to watch the care and diligence taken to remove this tree. I recommend them highly. Neighbors had trees removed, huge ones. The only way to access was from my driveway. This was arranged by the neighbor and communicated by the neighbor, when to expect to see Stanley Tree. Arrived ready to set up to get to work. When the crane was going to drive on the green space they set boards or planks to protect the green space between my driveway and their project. Worker checked with me before working in the driveway which would block me in and offered to move if I wanted to go out. When laying the cut trunks of trees these were carefully placed onto a board so not to dent the lawn. Impressed and a bit in awe of how efficient and what was completed in 1 day. read more

We had John and the crane crew in to take down a 100 foot spruce which was about two feet from my house. They set up in the back yard and systematically took down the tree and trimmed another line directly next to it. When they left you could not even tell they were there. TLDR: This company seems to be agressively seeking out elderly/inexperienced customers to scam. They strongly appear to be thieves masquerading as a legitimate business. After the work is almost done, they will lie about price, work completed, and threaten you (via several methods) if you don't pay their heavily-altered, dishonest prices. I have been in the construction and landscaping business for 18 years. After we agreed on a set price and other factors, the work begun. When the work was almost done, they started changing the agreement. They demanded a steep increase in price by several thousand dollars, cut down the wrong trees, destroyed the yard with massive holes and tire tracks, and demanded payment without wanting to finish the job and without picking up the downed trees. If you rightly refuse to pay, they will agressively threaten you. Avoid at all costs. These miserable people are greedy thieves who would likely scam their own children to make a few quick bucks. read more

We had a very large mulberry tree taken down. This tree had many vines and other foliage around it and in it. Stanley tree offered a competitive estimate. So today we had some trees taken down. The equipment involved was mind-blowing. The crew that showed up to execute the removal were absolute professionals. Every precaution was thought through to insure the safe removal of the trees and protection of our property. From the experienced crane operator, to the job Forman, the chipping and cleanup crew to the climber..everyone knew their role and the entire job seemed synchronized . I sat and watched in absolute amazement. Not only was EVERYTHING on our list taken care of, but these gentlemen were NICE! A true testament to any company is the attitude of their field crew when the "boss" isn't there watching. The equipment they had also spoke to how seriously the owners take their employees safely. Stanley Tree recently removed a giant elm that had partly fallen in our yard. They completed their work exactly in the time frame they projected and charged a very fair price. Their workers were incredibly friendly and professional, but most of all immaculate. They removed a giant tree and there wasn't one branch left in our property after they were gone. Stanley Tree Service quoted us $2,500.00 to remove a single spruce tree that partially fell on our house. Impressed by the speed of their initial response, and the fleet of equipment shown on their website, we signed the contract--despite the price. Stanley Tree Service arrived in four vechicles to remove the tree a few days later. But, within minutes, they opted not to remove the tree, but instead added several provisions to the contract and insisted that we sign it. They promised to return a few days later. And, after much effort, we managed to schedule an electrician, wire inspector, and power company to be on site when Stanley Tree arrived. But, again Stanley tree informed us that their logging truck won't be available. Yet, again we arranged to have everyone available a week and a half later. After we ensured Stanley tree that all of their "new" provisions were met, they promptly notified us via email that they decided to back out of the contract. In other words, we have wasted a week and a half meeting Stanley Tree's demands only to have them renege. Worst of all, we still have a tree on our house. read more

Just an update, I was out at my moms house looking to replant the grass where Stanley destroyed her yard (and then charged her to replace it with fill) and the fill they charged her for is mostly gravel mixed with broken glass! So now no one can walk barefoot on her yard ever again because they used nasty rocky fill with broken glass in it. Stanley Tree Services came out to my house yesterday and cut down two of my maple trees. One was in the front yard and the other was in the back yard about ten feet from my house and both were approximately 40 to 50 feet tall. They were extremely professional and thoughtful. They explained exactly what and how the process would go. The front one took no time at all. The back one was much more difficult due to the fact it was not only hanging over the house, but my shed, fencing and my neighbor's yard. They were also very attentive to my neighbor's concerns about his sprinkler system and made sure they did not damage any of his sprinkler heads with their machines. Watching them work I noticed that they thought out, planned, and discussed every move. I took pride in the fact that every neighbor said they were extremely impressed with their work! They worked diligently and efficiently to the point that they even fixed my lawn where a log fell. Yes, they did tap the vinyl corner of my house while moving a log through a difficult passage, however they immediately informed me if it. I understand accidents happened, but I was extremely impressed that they apologies and said they would "make it right" no questions asked. I received a phone call within an hour from the salesman asking me how I wanted to go about fixing the corner. Today he suggested that if I wanted, they would grind the front tree sump for free which I accepted. An hour later they showed up and again very professional and efficiently ground the stump down. The all day project involved using a crane, bucket truck, and five workers. Be Warned!!! This company was hired to clear the towns electrical wires. BUT what they did was hack there way up the street. Leaving half cut to stripped trees to brush everywhere. Now several neighbors have years to live with what looks like a mini tornado swept through. Very Unprofessional. If I could it would be negative 5 star rating. Dear Stanley Tree Service: I am grateful to your efforts to help the surrounding community after Friday's storm did so much tree damage. That being said, I am upset that I have had an appointment with you for several weeks to meet today at noon. I received a phone call at 8:30 AM telling me that crews need to work on other trees around the state due to the storm. While I can understand this, please understand my frustration in taking a day off only to be told sorry 3 hours before a meeting. I cannot get my day off or lost pay back. While my trees remain upright, the last storm, the coming storm, and the proximity of said trees continue to make me uneasy and I will have another service out here soon to take care of them. While this is perhaps small compared to the difficulty in others, I feel strongly I could have been given more heads up about this, even last night, when I could have modified plans. I understand the company has probably been burning the midnight oil due to the storm, but a little consideration of potential customers would be nice. It takes little effort and even less time to look ahead and say, "Sorry, we can't keep our promise, but at least we can inform you in a timely manner."
