The owner here is a joke and an asshole. WE DID A HUGE JOB WITH THEM EARLIER THIS YEAR FOR $2400 got out right away for a huge tree that fell after a storm, everything went ok. So we decided to use him for something small. Here is the issue, he tells us the job will take about an hour, and lets us know it could take up to 2 weeks to do it. No problem we wait 3 weeks, check in at the end of the week, he tells us they are swamped and he cant get it done for another 2 weeks but promises he will at that time. So we wait patiently another 2 weeks, check in with him and he promises it will be done by the end of the week, so now we call at the end of the week he promises if he isnt out today which was a saturday then he would be out sunday to do it. DOESNT COME SATURDAY OR SUNDAY AND DOESNT CALL TO LET US KNOW. We call on Monday he says he will be at the house by 4 or 4 30, then 5 comes along so we call and he now tells us he is 15 minutes away. An hour passes by we call again, he stopped on his way to give someone else a quote lol, just doesnt care at all, finally comes out and trims half our shrubs and leaves them in the street, mind you this isnt just a couple of lims, this is alot of shrubs in the street. City could fine us. So he tells us he will be back the next day, ofcourse doesnt show and doesnt call. This time i call myself since my fiance called and now he cant even give us a day. He proceeds to call us a pain in the ass and he has pushed back people for us. LOL he did us at 6 30 at night and a half ass job. So i tell him how unpleased we are and he proceeds to call me a FAT FUCK on the phone and hang up on me. After he hung up on me he then butt dialed me and was just bad mouthing us left and right. You tell me if this is good business practice. The owner is a joke and consider yourself warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He continuously was tell me he was doing his best. Here is the issue if our job takes an hour to do then get it done first thing in the am and move on for the rest of the day, its really not that hard. I get that you are busy but if you cannot do it then let the customer know. And dont ever treat a paying customer like shit on the phone just because you cant do your job properly. read more

Tom from Cumberland, RI: Very favorable - sent and called numerous tree services for quotes for removal of two large maple trees. Many responses. North Smithfield Tree Service came in with the lowest quote ( by $500.00). I was very leery of doing business with NS because of some of the negative reviews, so I contacted customers that had used them. On the whole they were very positive. We decided to hire them and it worked out extremely well. I advised him he would not be paid until all work was completed including the removal of all the trees, logs, branches etc.. Nothing was left! Mike and his crew were very professional and completed the job within 4 hours. It was impressive to see the logs/large sections of the tree being lifted over our house! There clean-up was thorough. The equipment they used was very impressive and state of the art. My one concern and I'll keep you posted, he volunteered (yes him) to come back and level the stump in the back yard that was not as low as it could have been. On the original agreement, because there was no access to the back yard ( the stump removal equipment could not fit through) it was agreed not to grind the stump, just cut it flush. I'm hoping he'll return as he stated he would. As I STATED, I will keep you posted when or if the stump is leveled. Bottom line, I would hire them again! read more

North Smithfield Tree Service are the best and most professional tree service company that we have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Mike gave us a very reasonable estimate just last week, and said that they would be back in a couple of weeks, to take down our 100 ft. Ash tree that was being ravaged by the Emerald ash borer. We were rapidly losing small limbs and foliage from the top, so we knew it had to go. Anyway, to our surprise the crew arrived today, less than a week from the initial estimate, ready to remove the Ash. The boom, chipper and cherry picker trucks were lined up and ready for the task. The crew worked together like they have been doing so all of their lives. The entire job was done in an hour or so, with the Ash removed by the the boom and chainsaws in pieces, chipped and carted away. Mike even left us some good lengths of wood for use in our wood stove. They cleaned up all of the remains of the ash and the area where the work was done is pristine. Not only was I looking for a company that can cut trees, I needed advice as to what I should do with my trees. Four white pines, reaching over 40 feet tall, do I cut them or save them? A working team in progress, a family run business, Mike explained that I could save the trees and still cut them to a reasonable height. Was I glad he gave me this advice. I had known these trees for the 36 years since I lived on this property and hated to have them destroyed. He could read my heart immediately. It takes a long time to grow a tree. I knew these trees since they were 10 feet tall. Talk about sentimentality. We all know that feeling. For years since buying our home, we had to deal with a horror show of leaves in the fall. Thinking about getting rid of a tree and trimming back some branches, we called NSTS. Mike picked up the phone quickly and came to our home. He worked on getting the best deal that he could. Our neighbor also used this tree service. Working at our neighbors home, both Mike and his son looked again and found that more trees could be a problem down the road, and again, worked with us on a great deal. Mike quoted my job the evening of my initial call. I accepted on the spot when he said he could get a crane in and get the job done in about 4 hours. Two previous tree removal companies said it would be a day+, and that it wasn't possible to get a crane into the tight backyard. The job was to start in 4-6 weeks, lots of backlog with the winter storms which I completely understood. Mike and crew started the job 2 weeks ahead of schedule and completed it within the original estimate of 4 hours. Excellent job cleaning up, and all the excess wood was removed within 1 hour. We hired the team at a very reasonable price for taking down a huge oak, some of a pine that had fell and some other minor cuts to trees surrounding our property. Mike even offered to trim up a row of arborvitae that were too high for us to reach ourselves. The team was efficient, safe, and responsive and within a few days came back to grind the stump of the large oak and pick up all the pieces. Mike even agreed to grind down two other stumps left behind by previous tree service companies. He was the least expensive compared to 3 other quotes, and delivered on everything we agreed to. This is the second time I have used Mike and his company for tree removal. First time, last year, was to remove eight tall pine trees and then grind the stumps. They were quick to respond and finished up in about two hours. This last time was to remove a large maple tree. He also removed a smaller Oak tree close to the house, at no extra cost, and also cleaned out my gutter while he was here (that's one of the reasons I had the tree removed). Special attention was made to protect the lawn and to ensure that the boom was secure and level. Great teamwork. 3 / 90 foot trees and 1 shorter tree were down and chipped in 2 and 1/2 hours. Some very large trunks needed to be hauled away. Stump grinder went through stumps like butter. Impressive, well- maintained equipment. The next day, after finishing another job early they called and asked if they could swing by that day and finish it. They took down a large tree that was infested with carpenter ants. Came the next morning to remove after coming to quote due to it's precarious state. It was ready to come down in the next big storm, likely going to fall on the neighbors house. They were in and out in less than a half hour, cut good wood into fireplace length wood, removed the branches and cleaned up. Reasonably priced, over the years, they have taken care of trees on the property from trimming trees, to removing some giant 180 foot pines that needed to come down. read more
