I would give this company a zero star rating if I could. Customer service is horrible. I hired CJ to cut down a tree that was leaning over the fence and threatening my house. I was quoted a price of $500. The owner came out and I again specified what I wanted done and asked if the price was still $500. He agreed. He said he was finished, however the 3 limbs that are threatening my house were not touched. When I questioned him, he tried denying the agreement. He said he didn't bring the right chainsaw or the right boom truck. He said he was unaware we wanted the tree topped (even though I showed him the branches I wanted cut). Then he started screaming and arguing with me about why he couldn't do what he was hired for and he also left a huge mess to clean up. read more

Here it is exactly one year since my last review of CJ Tree and I've used them for a third time and, again, their work was exemplary. (Note - I have no connection to these people except as a customer.) They had to remove two huge trees, one with twin trunks that was rotted and a very beautiful Oriental Pine that was completely healthy. We were hit with a tornado in October 2018 and I noticed the pine was leaning toward the house. It was close enough that it would seriously damage a huge part of the roof if it fell. The pine was perhaps 80+ feet tall. It took them approximately three hours to dismantle and cut down the tree. It was just amazing to watch. CJ also trimmed several other trees and cut down two small trees at the edge of my woods that were leaning precariously over the street. This is a small business and their equipment is top flight and the men were obviously very skilled at what they were doing. I sat at the window for hours and watched them and I took photos. After finishing my work, CJ went across the street to my neighbor's yard who apparently also uses the company. I've also seen their truck at other neighbors' houses. I want to re-emphasize this --- I do not know these people. I am not being paid for this review. They did not give me a lower price for my reviews. I've put in this effort because I am so weary of people coming to my house and quoting outrageous prices when there is work to be done - like the electrician who told me it would cost $10,000+ to change my electrical panel from fuses to breakers. smh. I'm also tired of staying home from work only to have workmen not show up after quoting a job. read more

First, we used CJ tree last year to do basic tree removal and stump grinding... They were amazing, professional, affordable and were able to accommodate months faster than any other company. This past weekend a huge tree fell into our kids playground (thank goodness no one was outside). We called on A SUNDAY! And they were here first thing Monday morning... Save yourself the stress and aggravation. Do not hire this company. They are beyond unprofessional. First I scheduled the job for a certain date. Owner phoned to confirm the wrong date - I said no this is the date we scheduled- I have it written down in the text. He said "No my crane operator wants to take that day off." Yes that was the excuse. Bear in mind I had already arranged to take the day out of work on the original date we had scheduled. I later found out they had a big job they were doing in Smithfield so that was real reason. I should have taken this as a red flag- because it quickly went from bad to worse. The job was to remove a tree and grind the stump. The tree was taken down but they had broken equipment that they knew was broken when they took the job ( found this out from one of the workers) so they couldn't grind the stump. Days later unannounced they show up with the broken grinder and spent 4 hours trying to repair it in my driveway. Black smoke billowing everywhere. And just added to the oil leaks they had already made from the day before with their trucks. Just turned into a ridiculous disaster. Long long story short I had to hire *another company to finish the job. ( *Seekonk tree service) very professional sent out person to price it and scheduled a date and time. Job got done because they had equipment that worked. CJ tree service said they would send someone to power wash my driveway and my neighbors but did not follow through. Called CJ Tree and spoke to Carrie. Less than an hour later I received a call and the Foreman and Owner were at my home to provide me a free estimate. We had 1 urgent matter and, with the large amount of trees on our property, several other concerns needing attention quickly. When I first called I figured we'd have to have the urgent work done and schedule the other work for down the road. Well turns out that's not the case when you call CJ Tree. The estimate was reasonable and we are having the work done this week. So far I can say my experience with CJ Tree has been exceptional when compared to the 7 other companies I called! I will update this review with images and the outcome once the work is done, but I really don't see my opinion changing any time soon. read more

These guys are the best. I'm selling my house and the sale is contingent on having a dead limb removed that was leaning towards the house. I called at least 15 different tree companies and half of them weren't calling me back and the other half were booked for months and weren't taking new jobs. I was seriously losing sleep over this and then Joe came to the rescue. He came out on a Saturday and gave me a very fair estimate and then had the limb removed the very next Monday! It was a tough job due to fences, houses, the driveway, and the size of the limb but they brought the bucket truck and had it down and cleaned up in no time. They did an amazing job and cleaned up everything afterwards as well. Very professional! read more

All I know about this business is that while doing work at a private home (not at the roadside but up the driveway) they illegally shut down a heavily used road at rush hour, blocking the entire road with their truck with no police detail or flagger for at least ten minutes while angry motorists backed up onto Route 6 and blocked the 4 lane road. There must have been 50 cars affected with no communication, apologies, or updates, most of them unable to turn around and go another way. That kind of disregard for the community and for laws speaks volumes to me about the company! read more

This company did service for my neighbor to remove a tree. In order to get to their tree, the truck drove in on my property, so he could manipulate the truck to neighbors backyard. He went on my property without permission.! They were using a truck that was leaking oil and after they left, there was oil leak all over the driveway. (You can see the patch in attached pictures) No one asked us. It doesn't bother me that they used my driveway but What does bother me is that they felt: 1. Entitled to use my property without permission and then lied to my tenants, 2. Brought a leaking truck to my property and damaged the concrete, 3. Dinged my tenant's vehicle and didn't bother to leave a note 4. Took off a portion of the garage's gutter and didn't reattach it, and 5. Left behind debris and small tree cuttings in our trash for us to deal with. I called the company numerous times. Each time we either get an answering service or his secretary - Never the owner. Very poor work ethics! I've been calling for last few days but no response from the owner. Do yourself a favor, and do not ever hire this company for any job. They don't care!!! read more

So, Carrie called me back and said she will talk to the owner and let him know about my complaint and to see what she can do because they are all about the customer and promised to call me back. Well that was a lie! Left messages twice and waited patiently in respect to their busy season and no return call. I even visited 100 Higginson Ave, Lincoln only to find out they are not located there, but that's probably my fault by not digging deep enough to find their true and current address. Carl, if you are reading this the only way I'll go away is if you remove/replace/re-stack the unseasoned and punky firewood that gets wet and doesn't dry out. Your not dealing with a rookie, pal. These gentlemen were so professional. They showed up prepared to do the job and did it quickly & efficiently; the large truck & machines pulled & cleared out 3 large bushes, stumps and all then cleaned it all up before leaving....I was impressed and, will definitely use & recommend CJ Tree again. read more

While the work they did was good, the workers that did it were highly unprofessional. They Blocked neighbors driveways, parked in my neighbor's driveway without my or their permission, and were speeding while in reverse down my the street. They also parked in my yard without permission, on top of my grass and left divets. Carl, who priced the job, was not here and the person who seemed to be in charge was very loud and was yelling and swearing. He was fighting about money with one of the other workers until I asked him to please quiet down. While I know the machinery is loud and bulky the yelling was just after the machines were shut off. I will not ask them back nor will I recommend them. Save your time. read more

CJ Tree service came to trim some very overgrown trees in my yard. Not only did they shape them beautifully, they took the extra time not only to clean up the fallen tree trimmings but even the small little birch leaves that were in the street. The crew were very detailed in all aspects. read more

My neighbor helped get CJ TREE SERVICE, she is friends with the management. They cancelled the first appointment well in advance so I have no problems with that. On the day they arrived, they were on time. I had two trees for them to cut down and 3 for trimming. I was told they would start in the back yard. While I was in the back yard waiting for them to come back and start when I saw the tree in the front come down. Since we have a floral garden with specialty trees in the middle of the front lawn, my wife tried to get the guy from CJ TREE to stop but all he said is "get away, you don't have a hard hat", never listening to what she was saying. Well, as you might expect, they destroyed one of the trees and all of the plants. In the back yard, the team lead climbed the Japanese Maple and took it down in sections, leaving about 15 feet of the trunk and went on to do some of the trimming of the other trees. The guy that cut down the tree in the front came and decided to finish the Japanese Maple. He cut a wedge on one side and then cut the other side just to watch a large piece crash onto my new deck snapping off 2 pieces of the PVC decking in the middle of the deck and a big chunk out of my automatic hose reel. The guy that did the cutting literally begged me not to notify the office saying he would come back on Saturday and fix the deck. He even took a piece of the decking. Never to be seen again. The neighbor said she and her husband have both left phone messages to C J TREE and I've sent text messages to the owner Carl and the Sales Manager/Foreman Joe. I called the office and left a message. What a surprise, no one ever responds. I'm going to RI small claims and see if they can get C J TREE to respond. read more

All I can say is this company destroyed my lawn. Please never use them for lawn services. They sent some kid who obviously didn't care about anything besides getting done. He mowed at top speed on a very large mower, one of the "zero turns". Well if you know them at all, you don't want to "zero turn" in place as it can leave HUGE BALD SPOTS where it rips up the grass. I have dozens of 8-14 inch bald spots all over my yard. It was so bad we had friends call and say " WOW who did THAT, its horrible please let us know so we never use them". The lest of the problems was he did not weed whack, and "forgot" the edger (the primary reason we called them), left to go get it and never came back. There are too many companies out there, don't give this one your business. read more

I was told by the owner, Carl, that plywood would be put on my grass if any of his trucks or equipment needed to go on my grass. Needless to say, that did not happen. There was about six tire marks left on my lawn and several were very deep. It took two phone calls to the office of CJ Tree before my call was returned. Carl stated he would send a worker to try to "pick" up the tire marks. It has been over a week an no one from CJ Tree has showed. read more

My husband and I couldn't be more satisfied with the professionalism an experience that we had with C & J Tree Service. We had looked into other tree services to solve a huge problem that we were having with a overgrown tree that was growing over our in-ground pool. We knew there was absolutely no way to get any equipment in our backyard. Also the power lines are very low in the front of our house. When Joe from the company came out to give us an estimate and a strategy, he was quick with a solution. He was very confident that this was something they would have no problem handling. The crew were back within the week. They put a huge crane in the driveway that went over the house. Everyone on the crew knew exactly what job they had and they were in constant communication with each other. With the guy in the crane and Joe on the roof and another guy being hoisted up in the tree was something to watch for sure. They managed to lift half of my tree over my house and into a wood chipper like it was nothing. They were here for about an hour and a half to two hours. My husband and I are so happy to have this project completed. And we know without C & J Tree Service it would not have been possible. A big thank you to all you for a job well done. read more

If I could give negative stars I would!!!! The "jerk" I dealt with was SO UNPROFESSIONAL....even cursed ME out! He was supposed to come give us a quote just to trim some trees from my 82 year old father's house. We rushed over to my dad's for our appointment and he called us after the time and said he forgot he had something else but had come over earlier to look at the tree but didn't tell us. We set up another time and then he calls us 3 hrs later stating he was here, but we had already moved on. Then he proceeds to curse at me saying I wasted HIS time.....WTF!!!! What ever happened to customer service!! Is this how we take care of our elderly parents!! COME ON If you don't want the job, just say that and we can move on!! read more

At the request of CJ Tree Service I let them use my yard to get a tree out of my neighbor's yard so that CJ Tree Company didn't have to put their employee up in the tree. I said they could use my yard AS LONG AS THEY DON'T RUIN MY GRASS. I ended up with tires marks as deep as 5 inches deep in some places. I called and spoke to the owner ....Carl Hammerle.....hoping he would come fix what they did to my yard. He said "You gave us permission....you are on your own". Needless to say I had to get it filled myself. Do yourself a favor and NEVER hire them. They have no respect to anyone's property! read more
