The food was ok. My eggs were made to perfection. The bacon and toast was a little over cooked. My partners food Scrambled eggs, hash browns sausage links and French toast was perfect. Our waitress was great. She was on top of everything. The room we were in was to the right when we walked in. It has 6 booths in it. The music is too loud. I don't care if you don't live anywhere near here, you should drive here just to eat at Mike's. We're from Chicago and love new food- and Mike's should open in every city, beginning with Chicago. First, everyone here is sooo nice. Second, the food is AMAZING. We ordered as soon as we got into the hotel and the menu was overwhelming (in a good way). They make everything but also it's with a twist- a really really tasty one. We had the fried ravioli and it was outstanding. Creamy inside. Crispy and seasoned on the outside. We also ordered the ribs with green beans and Mac n cheese. Everything was perfect. Ribs were tender. Green beans tasted fresh and more southern. The Mac in cheese was homemade and creamy and cooked perfectly. The brisket sandwich was awesome. It's huge. Expect to eat twice with anything you order. And regardless of how full you are, leave with cheesecake and the peanut butter pie. Both were big enough for two pieces each and I don't like peanut butter pie but I do now. It's my new favorite thing. It tastes just like a Reese's peanut butter cup but with a crust that I never knew a peanut butter cup needed but it does. The cheesecake is dense and just a damn good cheesecake. We are so full and have more food left over than will fit in the hotel fridge but we're still getting up early to go have breakfast at Mike's before we leave town. read more

I was here with a party of 17 minus ten after my buddy Pasi graduated from Kent this weekend with his master's in international pickle spearing. Mike's Place caught my attention with its overly-quirky decor and outlandish furnishings, so I figured why not make my curious eyes feel at home and stare away. I ordered the Rolando's Magic BBQ Melt, and this sandwich was an absolute monster. Three layers of pulled pork, sourdough bread, onion rings, pepper Jack cheese and FRIES. Tons of fries everywhere! What an absolute sinner of a sandwich. I placed it under arrest for the heart attack it would eventually give me. The pickle tasted just fine too. I couldn't get enough of anything on this plate, and I got to dine in the bus too. I'll be back when I'm 87 in the nursing home begging Rolando to get me the mannequin's phone number. read more

This place is worth the drive! Relaxing atmosphere fans so much fun!!!!!! Unique menu items! Come hungry cause portions are huge. It's good to sit in the bar here if you are a sports fan! You can watch games while eating and drinking! If recommend the Dragon Slayer drink unless you are into beer. Lots of beer choices here. Back to the food.....everything delicious! There is something for everyone here! I've never been to a restaurant where there are so many food choices. My Aristotle Greek Salad was delicious and filling. Good ratio of salad ingredients to gyro meet. My family enjoyed their menu choices too! Crab cakes were good and moist--not dry. The meatball sub was delicious and meatballs were a good size. We got some of the peanut butter pie to go. Had it before and it's delicious! Got it to go because full from the dinner sized portions here. When you come here, take a little time to look around. Came in for lunch on a Friday. Driven past this place dozens of times, but never stopped in. Place gets 5 stars for character and service! Food was good, just not great. Ordered the breaded haddock fish sandwich. Came with lettuce, cheese, tarter and Cole slaw. The sandwich was huge and plenty cheesie. Roll was nicely toasted. Tarter and Cole slaw appeared home made. Both were very good, too. Service was very quick, as was the check. Nice find. read more

The place was decked out with some awesome decorations and it keeps your eyes busy for a while. You're going appreciate that when waiting for Service, even though they were super swamped it sucks. Got there just before noon didn't get out of there until 1:15pm and we had places to be. Told our server that and we need the check waited another 15mins for him to get it. I am unsure if I can come back to this place anytime soon. I'm so disappointed with the sandwich I ordered. I ordered a Jelly Rodger. What I got was such a disgrace I ended up taking the burger and recreating it at home. It was supposed to be on sourdough. They put it on rye. Instead of telling me they didn't have sourdough and letting me choose some other bread or another dish, they took it upon themselves to put it on rye. I fucking hate rye. Rye is the worst. They put bacon bits on my burger instead of strips. Really? No jelly and so much cheese that anyone who ate it would be constipated instantly. There was no balance in flavors. Nothing like it used to be. This was a horrible hot mess. No one wore masks. No one distanced themselves. I did not observe cleaning of anything. I will not be going back anytime soon. This was our first visit. Food was fantastic, we had chicken parm, buffalo chicken wrap, pretzel bites, chips and queso and salad. Atmosphere is very chill and there's enough to keep you happy and entertained while waiting for your food (which was served rather quickly). So much to look at and enjoy. The menu is rather large but something for everyone, even my pickiest child! Our waitress, Maggie, was a sweetheart. She answered any questions and was on the ball with refills, boxes and anything else we needed. We traveled about an hour and a half to get here and are already looking forward to coming again. we headed northeast to Akron/ Kent Ohio to check out mike's place! First off who wouldn't want to check out a restaurant that has a Star Wars X-Wing fighter jet out front? Seen lots of post about this place before, so I thought I would check it out. The place is a Visual delight to the eye with so much to look at and pictures and signs to read. Then we were seated. Our waitress Stacie was super friendly and told us as first timers what to focus on, there menu is 6 full pages long and filled with Imaginative culinary delights. This is a fun restaurant where they take the food seriously, from the housemade dressing to cinnamon rolls to so many delicious items. My wife chose the four sliders with cheese and onions and thousand island. I chose the mad Hungarian, it was philly steak meat with ham and provolone cheese and grilled onions and they said kick it up by adding coleslaw so I did. full sandwich is in the picture. then I cut into thirds, to eat and added fries. I told the waitress that I am a chef, and she said so was her son. She brought us a side salad on the house so I could try their housemade dressings. A good Bleu cheese, a really good garlic ranch and great( our favorite) white French! So tasty. The mad Hungarian was amazing!! It was a great blend of flavor and so filling! Wow! Stacie said they are known for there Ruebens! I can't wait to go back to try other great sandwiches and combos! The place is always packed and also a wait but it is a fairly large place that the line moves fast! Had a big group for my son's 21st bday. Entire staff was AMAZING. They don't do reservations on the weekend, but we were smart about the time to come with a large group (we had the group show at 4:30, we got there at 3:30) and the entire staff was fantastic. I'm going to guess this place has a good rating based on the ambiance of the place. It's got quirky decor, and plenty of stuff to take photos in front of and whatnot, but the food is very average at best. The menu is huge but having a menu that big I think takes away from the chance to actually have a chance of being something really good. It's probably a great place to hit up after some drinking for sure and with it being close to Kent I'm sure that's why it's always busy. I've been in here a couple of times and tried various things off the menu and was never really wowed by anything. It's all about the outside and inside decor honestly. I also decided to take to another review site and write an honest review about the place (with a better rating than posted here) and the owner of the place proceeded to rip me a new one in a comment back. Just take the feedback and work with it to improve the place. It's called criticism and it's supposed to be helpful. There are other places to eat at in the area that have better service and better food, they just might not have all the photo ops that Mike's Place has. read more

This was by far the worst dining experience I have had to date. I always have good dining experiences at Mikes Place and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Kent however the service was atrocious. It took us 20 minutes to get our drink order, the appetizer, the loaded tater tots, came out cold, 40 minutes after we ordered it and 5 minutes before our food arrived. Our waitress, Jenna, only came to our table to take our order and deliver food, not checking on us once. At the end of our meal, our waitress asked each of what we ordered before she brought out our checks. I do love Mikes Place but this will affect the way that I dine in the future. read more

Ordered the pretzel nuggets, cheese sticks and loaded tots as appetizers. They were all good. I also ordered the chicken noodle that tasted homemade. My salad was more cheese than lettuce. My husband and mother in law ordered wings and said they were decent. Our waitress could have been better. She was not very attentive and we seemed to be "out of sight out of mind."
