Most unpleasant experience I have had at any mechanic or dealer in decades. I was concerned due to so many negative reviews but I wanted to give them a chance because I live here. Guy I talked to was rude, uninterested, and unfriendly nearly to the point of hostility. I wanted to get some minor simple work done and help with my Ninja 400. He told me it would be 4 to 6 weeks, made it seem like they might not be able to help me at all, barely responded to details of they help I needed, and seemed completely annoyed I was even there in the first place. I told him that since I now own a Kawasaki I was hoping to have them be my local shop and start paying them for service and buying things from them. He seemed irritated by that too, me trying to become a loyal new customer. Crazy. He told me to try a different shop down the hill and was even negative and sarcastic about that, saying, "Good luck.", as if he assumes other shops will be just as terrible and unhelpful as him. I don't know how they stay in business with attitude like that. Extremely disappointing. If someone opens a motorcycle shop in Placerville that is run in a professional, friendly, customer service oriented way they could do great. Read other reviews here of new customers trying to give business to this Kawasaki shop. My terrible experience there is not rare. Being rude to customers and trying to make them go away is about the worst you can possibly be at your job. read more

The owner Sean told me to take my quad out to his shop ( I live 3 hours away from their shop.) He said he would be able to get to it. When I showed up he told me $40 more an hour than he originally told me and he told me it was gonna take 3 hours more than another shop quoted me. After I mentioned that it was more expensive than he originally said and that it would take less time than he was saying , He then continued to tell me he doesn't want to work on my quad, now 6 hours for wasted travel. .. I brought my quad in last month to be worked on. I knew what was wrong with it and had gotten the other wheel fixed by T- bonez in diamond springs for just over $100 (I would have just gone there but they were booked out a month). When I got to Mike's Cycles he quoted me over $400 more for the same job!! He was then shady when I called him out on his BS and ruldly walked away. Avoid the crazy overcharge and embarassment for being taken for a fool and go somewhere else, it'll be far worth your wait!! I took my 2015 Voyager in for a recall and they did a great job on getting the parts and doing the service quickly. I asked Sean if he could readjust my handle bars for me and he said that would be no problem. They didn't even charge me for that. I have been in his store a few times to purchase items and was always greeted right away and taken care of professionally. I called before a long trip trying to get a tire and chain. They said I had to bring the bike in. It is a stock 2001 CBR929RR. I should have been able to buy the parts then bring the bike in when they were available. I went on the trip. The chain is messed up, needs new sprockets, the tires are now bald. Not much else in this area, though, so I'm stuck. But, they can't even give me an appointment when I call, they've got to call back. I think they don't like women. If I was a guy, I probably would have been catered to. I was going to buy my tires online. They said they would charge $160 to mount tires if I brought them in myself and then I would have to dispose of tires myself. That's just crap. This area is really poor and you'd think you could get a good deal on service. Costs just as much, or more, than in San Francisco Bay Area, where I used to live. Just helped a friend remove front wheel on road trip that ate up my tires - it's not rocket science! read more

My husband and I dropped both of our bikes off for tune ups on April 13 2019. I called several times to see what was up. After they had had my bike for 2 1/2 months I called again to see if they had just forgot about me altogether. The man I spoke with on the phone told me a bunch of crap men like that tell women because that's what pieces of crap do when they know they have the upper hand when dealing with a non mechanically inclined FEMALE! I asked him was it normal to keep a bike for almost 3 months and he said it was completely normal to have my bike for 3 months. He said he would call me the next week. He did not. Finally my husband called and he was able to pick it up later that day. I assume it is running well but now it's too warm to ride. If you have a quarter of a year to leave your bike here and you enjoy dealing with misogynistic pigs, then this is your place to go. I finally got my bike on July 13 2019. read more

Bought a new Prairie 360 from them years back, took it in for its first service and they changed out my drive belt, which only had 25 hrs on it. There was nothing wrong with the belt but the owner insisted that it was worn out, claimed that happens on all new machines. He outright lied! Fast forward a year, took it in for a simple service and got a bill for over $500.0 with a bunch of lies about contaminated fuel. The mechanic said he had to change it because of the color, @ $6.00 a gallon, (I had added fuel treatment) no call, just a bunch of BS and jacked up bill for unnecessary parts, including a carburetor rebuild. I only wanted a valve adjustment and oil change, which neither was done. Fast forward a couple more years. I called to get a new seat, price was a bit high for the cheap knock off they ordered. I wanted a factory OEM, not a plastic POS that I could have gotten for half their price online. Anyway, I could go on for days about the rude staff, but suffice it to say, this is not an honest business and I'll never go back. I had come to notice the atmosphere towards the public is one of avarice and animosity. I felt I had a duty to warn others of what to expect once they bought from them. I now take my quad and Polaris RZR to T-Bones in Shingle Springs, great work and almost always done in a day. (that's a policy because they don't have the room to store) so this works in the customers favor. Too bad they aren't a dealer, I'd buy from them next time around. read more

I looked up the problem with my Kawasaki Bayou 250 carburetor online and went in to Mikes Cycle and ordered a carburetor rebuild kit from the female. I only needed to change an o-ring in my carb so when I got the kit that was all that I really looked at. I changed it and it still leaked, then I noticed the parts in the kit were not the same size as what I needed so I went back into Mikes and found out the female ordered a kit for a 220 and because I used the o-ring she would not take the kit back and refund my money. She said I must have told her I had a 220, why would I say that when I have a 250 and didn't even know they made a 220. The *&%^ female ordered the wrong kit. They could have taken that kit and used it at some point on another ATV and just ordered me the right one since it was their mistake but instead they chose to lose a customer for life. read more

Needed a tire changed.('81 Yamaha Maxim 650). Staff was polite and professional(other then the slightly surly mechanic). They said it might takes hours, it was done in less then one hour! Slightly critical note, make sure you get a written estimate before any work done. I was dinged an extra $20, but it was a legitimate reason, but should've been told up front. Mike's is an old school dealership where they treat you like family. In today's age of the corporate mentality where the customer never meets the owners at a big box store, it is nice to be able to talk to people who have to survive as a result of their own labors. They have been selling and servicing motorcycles for something like 40+ years, so they have pretty well figured out what they can and can't do within their five to six day work week. They have a great patience for customers with older models, so try them for your vintage bike needs. They sold me some parts for my old bikes at a great price. Take some young people to their store to have a look at the cool vintage bikes on display. If they tell you that something probably won't work on your own bike, you should take advantage of their knowledge. They have probably seen the same issue many times before, over their long history! read more

I find it interesting that all these reviews are either a 1 or a 5, nothing in between. I think the 1's are the true review and the 5's are their riding buddies review. Mikes Cycle just lost a $500 sale from us and we've already told three riders never to shop there. Precision Cycle, here we come. We needed a new tire, battery, sprocket and chain for the street bike. They didn't close for 1 1/2 hours, one guy was already bringing in the bikes from outside, the other guy was sitting in a chair not doing anything. They had one tire that happen to be the right size but wouldn't mount it until next week!! My boyfriend works during the week and commutes on the bike! The mount would have only taken 20 minutes and they only had two more bikes to pull inside. The bald guy was leaning on the counter on his elbows in no apparent rush to do much of anything but leave for the day. It appears they don't really need money except maybe just enough to get by or just be able to ride themselves. read more

So to start, these people had my kx450f for 3 months to replace a timing chain tensioner and a water pump gasket. Every time I called wondering what the deal is with my bike the bald headed prick was always an absolute asshole. I got my bike back hoping it would all be good to go and ready to ride but that was not the case. They put home made washers in my plastics instead of just putting in new ones which they should have had in their shelf. They also ran my coolant overflow hose right against my exhaust which melted. To top it all off my (freshly rebuilt motor) was dumping smoke out of the exhaust! My bike is not a two stroke nor a diesel. It shouldn't smoke. I called to see what was up with that and they over filled my oil causing it to dump into my crank case causing issues. This shop was not professional at all, and if you do use them, take your bike in a year in advance and do not make any plans to ride it afterwards. read more

I called for the first 1,000 mile service on my new bike and was told to bring it in. When we walk up to the counter today the staff behind the counter told me it would be 7 to 10 days before they could change the oil. This is a dishonest tactic for a manufacture representative to pull on a brand new local client. If they did not want the work that day just tell people to make and appointment. I wasted my time it takes maybe 10 minutes to change the oil but the manufacture requires this be done at a dealer. It is sad that Mike's Cycle in Placerville is not honest with customer service. I had an appointment to get a flat changed on my Kawasaki. They advised it would likely be most of the day, IF I got in early. Due to a very bad tow provider, I was almost two hours late. Again, they told me it would take hours. I made myself comfortable with some magazines. In less than an hour the work was done! The price was good and the time better than promised.
