The Vintage Monkey AND "Hot Party Vixens" - Together At Last! SITREP First things first - The Vintage Monkey (TVM) is BIGGER & BETTER! Taking advantage of local real estate & space opportunities, Owner-Proprietor Shasta Smith has moved TVM to the 400 North Block of 16th Street (right before it becomes HWY 160). ANIMAL ROW! I first became aware of this magically industrial & artistic hood when Horse Cow Gallery (my most favorite art gallery EVER in Sacramento) had set-up shop nearby! Now TVM also has as a neighbor "The Steel Donkey!", another repair motorcycle shop. THE SETUP Like the old shop, this new location affords more opportunities to TVM to expand it's operations. (1) MOTORCYLE REPAIR - Primarily in the 1st section, TVM has been a vintage motorcycle repair and restoration shop. The motorcycles - queue up for attention of the talented & expert motorcycle repairpeople - are many! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vintage-monkey-sacramento?select=qv1pEY70PlLR5mZhww4HnA (2) RESTORATION - TVM also has expert craftsmanship in restoration of classic bikes, such as icons from WWII and the 50s. A lot of love, attention & detail work goes into making these beautifies last, fully-functional & road-worthy such as this war-classic! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vintage-monkey-sacramento?select=yf48Ao7FgV1u2QceZtJKtA In TVM's 2nd section, special industrial shelving has been constructed permitting a large revamped display room where classic bikes can be appropriately oogled & ogled by all who come by! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vintage-monkey-sacramento?select=ZcPA1g_Zm6P-LpX0ke2CFg (3) CIRCULAR BAR! Stay tuned for developments as Shasta and her team build an entirely HUGE circular bar in TVM's 3rd section which will be a specially theme Motorcycle-Cafe! The outline is already on the floor and this huge chandelier will be centrally located right over the circular area where Shasta & Bambi L. are standing! [Update: Completed!] https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vintage-monkey-sacramento?select=08ZaT52WByXbqqoB28MA0Q (4) HILARIOUS VINTAGE ACQUISITIONS! Now, Vintage Monkey wouldn't be "Vintage" if it didn't have any vintage-craziness, right? So did any of you see Comedians Keegan-Michael Key & Jordan Peele's tongue-in-cheek, stupidly-funny movie KEANU, about a little gangsta kitten that every is fighting over? If you haven't, go check it out sometime, SRSLY! But for purposes of this discussion, there is a TRULY CHEEESY Neon sign that is a major prop in the movie, since it belongs to the club where much of the movie's action takes place. The neon says is a wondrously obscene "Hot Party Vixens"! Here it is in the movie: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vintage-monkey-sacramento?select=tvL72AAZHVJ1jZbWKDIshA AND HERE IT IS AFTER SHASTA ACQUIRED IT! OMFG!!! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vintage-monkey-sacramento?select=EltPxP5ZY6LlCANTtug0lQ Talk about a conversation-starter! "HOT PARTY VIXENS (HPV) RULE!" :D THE LOWDOWN So TVM continues it wonderful trend of quality motorcycle repair & renovation, while also ramping up into the next big phase of creating a wonderful mecca for the motorcycle community!

Called the shop today, spoke to Dennis. He is very nice and keeps good communication. Definitely I will bring my Honda Passport to him to tune it up for the fall. Thanks Dennis.

This shop is a great place to bring your bike over. I put a review for Denis, but Yelp hides my review. I never use Yelp again! They need to respect my review, I did not use any abusive languages, it was an honor review. I have two Yelp users with Yelp. I heard about Yelp hiding reviews, I am being insulted by Yelp!!!

I love this place! The venue is beautiful! Every year The Vintage Monkey holds a fundraiser dinner in support of the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, bringing awareness to suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and men's mental health. On top of that, they have a motorcycle service for restoration and maintenance that's second to none!

I got my first bike ('82 Kawi KZ750) in October, a few weeks before VM opened their doors and unfortunately came upon a decent but altogether lackluster mechanic that didn't know and actively hated on my bike. After paying for him to go back into the same part he couldn't fix over 3 times, I thought their just HAD to be a mechanic in town that knew--and loved--classic motorcycles. Sometime in late November or early December I happened to see the huge mural to my left driving down 16th from my old job. On a whim I looked up the name on the wall and dialed the number. I spoke to Denis and it was obvious this was the mechanic I had hoped was in Sacramento. As soon as I told him what bike I had he told me he rode a friend's once and loved my bike and always wish he had one of his own. He has given so much time and attention to detail to my bike and that motor spins like a damn top now. We have a few more things to do and in all honesty the thing that excites me the most about receiving my paycheck is the knowledge that I can have Denis get me one step closer to making my Café Kawi vision a high-revving, low-end torque reality closing in in your rearview mirror. His depth and breadth of knowledge of classic bikes could fill volumes. Most mechanics out there shoot at mechanical problems with a shotgun; Denis is packing a sniper rifle. Do yourself a huge favor and just take your bike to him first. Your wallet and your bike will thank you.

This place and its owner are a gem. It was the best value with all of the amenities that we found near downtown Sacramento. All of our guests commented on how nice of a venue it was and everyone had a great time. Shasta was great, responsive, helpful and followed up as expected. She can also help you find trusted vendors, DJ, caterers, photo both, etc.. Also, they have the coolest chandelier. Give them a call you won't regret it. Enjoy

Denis helped me evaluate the condition of and spruce up my old motorcycle before selling it and was so wonderful.

Twice they removed and reinstalled the transmission and seals and it still leaks. The first hydraulic clutch cable exploded after a week and they said it was my fault. The second hydraulic line was installed by the kid trainee, but the wiring and cables were catching on each other on the way home. Turning was choppy and noisy. The clutch lever/mirror clamp wasn't tightened and when you grabbed the clutch lever, it flopped up and down. They obviously did not test drive it. I went to the dealer and they showed me the proper routing instructions readily available online. They were so lazy they couldn't even look them up. 1 million Harleys have clutch lines routed the same way. The only thing they are good for is tires and I won't go back there for that, either. I'll gladly pay 50 bucks more per axle at the dealer to get tires put on. At least the fasteners will be torqued properly and parts won't be missing or damaged. The dealer cleans your bike when he's done. These guys put grease fingerprints everywhere and don't clean any parts unless they are internal (I hope). CHECK FOR LOOSE PARTS, FASTENERS AND IMPROPERLY ROUTED CABLES AND LINES.
