Mike returns calls, shows up on time, explains what the problem is and how he will fix it, tells you how long the repair will take and how much he'll charge. He then fixes your appliance in the time he said it would take and charges you what he said he would charge you. It's almost unbelievable, but it's true! Mike came out yesterday to fix our trash compactor and he did a great job!! We called Sears first and the Sears guy took one look at it and said he couldn't do it. We then called Mike who came out the next day. He was well prepared and brought plastic pieces to prevent damage to the floor when he pulled out the compactor. He knew right away what the problem was and fixed it on the spot. He was upfront on the costs and gave us options for how to prevent the problem in the future. This guy is awesome. We had a fuel leak in the oven. He showed me how to fix it if it ever happens again, and THEN, he spontaneously checked our dishwasher--showed me how to clean it, suggest a better detergent, etc. And then he checked the refrigerator, and showed me how to clean the coils, and from there we hit the laundry room. He showed me a common part that breaks on the washer, and a simple fix for that too! Super nice, surprisingly helpful. I rarely write reviews, but . . . how could I not? A friend of mine recommended Mike when I mentioned that my 1967 original oven and stove were not fully functioning (bake burner in oven and 2 stove burners were out). I called Mike and left him a message. He called that night and we set up an appointment that worked for me. He explained $99 for the visit and then we'd go from there. He was upfront immediately about how old everything was but hopefully it was just a short! It ended up being just that and he had the needed "parts" to fix it on the spot. Mike is personable, on time, knowledgeable, charged decently. Does charge a fee for coming over but he shows up when he says he will. Our problem has been our washer/dryer and he will tell us when it is not worth to fix. He's the first person we call to get an estimate, and that we usually use. read more

I felt like I was in good, honest hands and it was very reasonably priced. I can only hope I caught Mike on a bad day. We had a friend pull apart the broken dryer in an attempt to fix the thing. When that failed, Mike was called in. Mike's a great guy. Our dryer (7 year old, Maytag) was making a scary loud noise every time we ran it, and I sent Mike a note via his website. He was incredibly responsive, showed up on time, and came in under his quote. He gave us a solid recommendation on how the problem happened, and what we can do to avoid it. Our ten year old washer went south. With the smell of ozone, and anguished mechanical noises it just wouldn't go any further. I am pretty good with mechanical things. How hard could it be? I tried to perform surgery, and couldn't figure out how to get the washer cabinet opened. Time to call an expert. I surfed around and found Mike. His Yelp and other reviews were at the top of the charts. A call to his number was responded to promptly, and he came over exactly when he said he would. He looked at my handiwork so far, and with only a little muttering, asked me to put everything back together. He said he'd stop by later so his labor charges to fix my adventures in mechanics wouldn't cost me. He left. I fixed everything and he returned when he said he would. A short diagnosis, a few minutes of work, and he found a screw jammed in the machinery that had been in the pocket of jeans I'd washed. With endless good humor and stories of similar customers he fixed everything. What a great guy! Sears referred me to Bay Area Appliance which was a pain to deal with from beginning to end. When I was tired of being treated like an idiot I called Sears to make a complaint. The nice lady at Sears asked me if I wanted to work with a different company. I immediately said, H--l yes & so I was given Mike's contact info. We missed each other on the phone a couple of times only because I'm a "night person"& then it was smooth sailing after that. You might find the following comments "strangely" normal however, EVERY WORD is TRUE ! He was available to evaluate my 2 year old refrigerator in a less than a week (as opposed to 10-14 days like BAA). Showed up on time, & actually LISTENED to me when I described the issue. He asked me a couple of questions & then proceeded to actually stick his head inside both the freezer & refrigerator to look around ! He discovered the problem right away, told me what it was, said he would order the part (which only took 3 days) & then said HE would call ME to come back to replace the part ! Wow ! This was SO EASY compared to BAA ! BAA had no idea what was wrong, didn't bother checking the temperature let alone actually look INSIDE the darned thing & asked me at least 3 times what I thought was wrong with it ! By reading all the great reviews about Mike I'm sure he does do quality work. The reason I'm giving him 1 star is because his voice mail message said "I will be out of town for the holidays & if you like leave a message & I will call you back. Have a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year." This voice mail greeting couldn't be any more vague. Being away for the holidays is fine & expected. Mike neglected to mention when he would be back & if he is checking his messages while he is gone which he is obviously not. I left him a message over a week ago & never received a call back. What was really frustrating was knowing when "after the holidays" really was as for a return date to take care of clients. My business would have died if I used a voice mail greeting as Mike has. Mike in all sincerity I suggest you create a more professional voice mail greeting because if you lost 1 customer then you lost more. read more
