Mikes has always been reliable and one I would never have a hard time recommending! First and foremost, the owner is awesome! He is very down to earth and will not try to up sell you in the least! I have brought my car in a few times with minor issues and I was either not charged at all or only charged a minimal amount. For larger jobs, he has always been competitive on pricing versus other small and large shops in the area. Another plus is the fact that his crew is quick, yet careful with you car. I cannot recommend Mike and his crew enough for your vehicle repair needs. I've gotten tires, alignments, and wheel balances from him before, but his exceptional service today really blew me away. I do nearly all my own work on my car, but get professional services that require expensive equipment (tire mounting, alignments, etc.) done by the pros. I recently purchased a new used car, and it had bad steering wheel vibrations at freeway speeds. I brought it into Mike, and he performed a wheel balance and alignment for a very reasonable price, but informed me that the tires were out of round, and told me a few of the suspension components were worn. I was about to leave on a 2 week road trip, and didn't want to spend money on an alignment if I would just have to get another alignment when I returned and replaced the suspension components. He said, "No problem, I'll perform the alignment today and when you come back after you've replaced the components, I'll perform another alignment free of charge." Wow. When I came back, he performed the alignment after I had replaced all 4 struts and the front lower control arms. In his previous inspection, he had said I needed inner tie rods, but when I was working on them, I couldn't detect any play and decided not to replace them. When I got the second alignment, he showed me the method for detecting minute inner tie rod play, and indeed they were worn. I ordered them, replaced them, and brought my car in for a third alignment that I was fully expecting and gladly would have paid for, but Mike again performed a full 4 wheel alignment free of charge! Mike does great work at reasonable prices, is friendly, gets the work done on time, and I have 100% confidence that he only recommends work to his customers that needs to be done. BIG Warning! Deceptive service. Price quoted on the phone was triple when I picked up the car.$2,999. The 2 issues I brought in the car for were never fixed. All emergency lights lit up driving 1/2 mile away from his shop-they said to bring it back right away. After another inspection they said it was fixed but the next day coming back from Napa all the emergency lights were on again.The original noise I had requested checking were still in the car.The 2 products (alternator, engine mounts) they replaced I had no warning signs or trouble with at all, but stupidly trusted him because our family had used him for years. I took my car to another mechanic he fixed the noise I was concerned about and checked all the electric system. 3 hrs. clean and honest repair. While talking to my family when I got home I was told wish you had asked us. My son and son-in law both were charged for services NOT performed. They each had to bring the car back to have the work done that they had been charged for. I am on a fixed income -- The $2999.charge for unnecessary and incomplete service really hurts. My car was worse off after bringing it to Mikes. NEVER AGAIN. He provides a million excuses that don't make any sense. read more

Mike saved my car!!! We made an awful mistake and ended up putting the wrong fluid in the wrong spot and it could have caused major damage to my car. I called several places at 1 pm on a Saturday and nobody answered. Mike called me back and had me immediately bring my car in to flush out the fluid. He asked me to come back after work on Monday so he could flush it again. The price was a fraction of what I could have had to pay for if the flushing had not been successful. Mike's used to be my go to mechanic in Sonoma. Not any more. I recently went in to check an oil leak and was diagnosed with a stripped oil pan cap. Fair enough but when I picked up my car they had added gasket charges that I wasn't contacted about, and well it was too late to do anything but pay for them. Also, they have a new policy of charging for paying by debit card. I wasn't informed of this change either so I didn't have cash on me to pay for services. I ended up having to pay for using my debit card. I received a quote for replacing my battery. It was double what it ended up costing me at O'Rielly's here in town. Also they quoted new tires for my car at $140.00 more than 2 other places in town. When I picked up my car Mike was no where in sight. I've been speaking with and dealing with a new young man at the shop. Not impressed. If you need work on your car, I recommend shopping around. If you do go to Mike's beware of hidden/surprise charges. read more

I just gave Armandos shop a 4 review and I won't take it back. Here's my story! I am always looking for a better deal. ALWAYS. So while Armando was working on shaping out tires that I had pre-purchase I tried to deal with him and trade him my 3 decent tires in exchange for the work. We started at 110$ just for the swap and ended at 80$ with me trading the older tires in. I settled because I thought I had a good deal. He gave me a hour eta finish time so I walked down the street and started asking other tires shops how much for the work I wad getting done. He was still giving me a good deal for about 40$ less but I was giving him tires. I walked into Mikes told them my situation and they offered to trade tires for work! We went to Mike's because the guys down the street recommended him - that in itself should tell you. The shop is organized and looks good - I'm a big believer that the look of the business reflects how the work is done. Mike and his crew provided a quick estimate on my wife's Honda. We left the car and the issue was fixed within hours. After driving the car home we found that it still had a "weird" sound. When we took it back, Mike brought out a stethoscope and like a good doctor he moved through the engine compartment patiently listening to each part, switching fans, AC and other variables off and on to identify the origin - once identified he fixed it, no extra charge. Separately the radiator on my Toyota had a hairline crack as the front had been pushed in. They straighten out front panel to ensure that the new radiator would fit, flattened out the hood, and offered to source a new hood from a junkyard for the old girl. All repairs were done at or below budget and very quickly. When you go you've got to check out his collection of toy cars and motorcycles - it's amazing! read more

I want to share the horrible experience that we had at Mike's alignment, in October we went into his shop referred by a friend of his, she stated that he was a very good mechanic and wasn't nonsense mechanic, however when found out that the problem wasn't the flywheel but the engine he offered a used engine out of a van that he had in his yard, we agreed on $1,200, and ended pain over $2,000 and waited for 3 months for him to finish up 2 week project, unfortunately there was nothing written about the original $1,200 agreement because I truly thought that he was a man of his word, that's hard to find nowadays. Not only this but the windshield wipers didn't work he installed a new motor for the windshield wipers and he charged us for that............ what's crazy about this is that they still don't work and he wants us to make an appointment to leave the truck there and once again and Hope that it is look what they've given us and not over, needless to say I never came back I rather fix it myself or pay someone to do it. this Mike character, he has absolutely no word, the worst experience I've had by far. He comes off as a very professional person however he has absolutely no professionality whatsoever for his business, he's a fake and I lost all respect for the man I don't believe and have anything written up because I still believe in a handshake and your word, if you have no word you have no place and if you have no place you have no business having no a business. i have been patronizing his shop for at least 15 years. I have a '56 Chevy and a '70 Caprice wagon. He and his staff are able to find sometimes difficult to locate parts and to repair the cars properly the first time. His shop does repairs to factory spec. for a reasonable price. In all the years I've gone in for work I've never felt taken advantage of. I have always felt that Mike goes out of his way to answer my questions and keep me informed as to the progress of the work.
