This is my first Yelp review. I've been to several chiropractors in the past. i found one that was good and able to alleviate my discomfort and I have been going to him for years now.. But recently, even after an adjustment, my spine is so FUBARed that after a few hours after my adjustment, i was still feeling discomfort, and eventually pain.
The issue with my spine, from my sacrum to my cervical, is that it is rotated clockwise. Therefore my left rib sticks out, and i have noticeable hump on my right back due to the rotation. Don't ask me how it happened, but it was a gradual thing that kept getting worse and worse as the years went by. It started in my early 20's. Im now 37.
i looked at chiropractor videos on youtube, and what caught my eye was Dr. Ian . He is a Gonstead Chiropractic Practitioner and he had healing hands like Jesus Christ himself. i was amazed. I did some more research on Gonstead, and found that it is a specialized technique that goes beyond just regular chiropractry. It takes additional years of study to master this technique.
So with this knowledge, and due to my desperation, (at this point it was so bad i was considering spinal surgery), i looked up any gonstead practitioners, and found Dr. Mike.
When i arrived he gave me the utmost attention. We took several x-rays of my body, from my cervical down to my pelvis region. around 5-7?? he looked at my whole spine afterwards through a computer that looks at the x-ray results, made several markings and notes on specific parts of my spine, etc... found that i had some trauma to my cervical region. and came to the conclusion that the rotation is originating from my sacrum region.
now he was able to make his adjustments. first we did the usual lay on the side and crack the pelvis region, left and right side, which i know the position. it wasn't a loud crack that i usually get. then we made a thoracic adjustment; again this wasn't the loud crack that im used to, but was a small "crick" sound.
ill be honest; i wasn't impressed at first. 1st, the crack didn't sound loud at all... and 2nd, i didn't feel any alleviation from my adjustment like i usually do from my original goto chiropractor. but i knew he knew what he was doing, with the x-rays he took, and the notes he was making which obviously i couldn't understand.
then i went back home, and during the evening.. i felt my spine rotating the correct way. i could physically feel my left rib digging into my body, and my right hump on my back digging in my body. it hurt and my body was feeling very inflamed, BUT i knew that it was rotating in the correct direction, which has NEVER happened before to any chiropractor i have went to. it was now around midnight, and i was laying in bad trying to get some sleep, but it still kept rotating in the correct direction.. i wasn't able to get any sleep but i didn't care; my spine was correcting itself due to the adjustments. i heard my stomach making weird sounds, and my spine made sounds i never heard in my life; like gases and liquids were being released from my spine into my body.
pretty much the take home message is.. Dr. Mike was the only chiropractor that was able to rotate my spine in the correct direction; no other chiropractor was able to do that.
im a believer of the gonstead method. there are 2 types of chiropractors, gonstead, and everyone else. And Dr. Mike is probably one of the best with his 20+ years(approx ?) experience in gonstead.
Also, his price is cheaper than i thought. $300 for an initial, which again, he takes several x-rays, and i know x-rays cost a lot of money. and then every initial visit is only $50.
i got my quality of life back again, i don't have fear of going and getting spinal surgery. Dr. Mike is literally a life send. read more
