My wife and I live in the SF Bay Area and wanted a destination wedding in Oahu. We travel to Oahu once or twice a year anyway and thought it would be a nice way to double up as a vacay for family and close friends. Initially we expected 40 - 45 people, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal, right? Well..... 10 more people got added.... And then another 10 were added... And then 20 more... And all of a sudden our initial headcount doubled. Yikes, it evolved into a big deal. We had to manage, coordinate, and pay for vendors based on phone/email and a 5 hour flight away. This would prove to be a daunting task... Mike Bell and his team came highly rated on The Knot so we gave him a call. He's super chill, professional, and competitive with his pricing. Once we expressed interest in his DJ services, he forwarded us a questionnaire. It asked about the types of music that we like and the types of music that we don't like (aka music that will be banned). It asked which specific songs would be played during which specific portion of the reception (entrance music, father daughter dance, garter toss, bouquet toss, cake cutting, etc). It was very specific as to which version of the song (original, cover, acoustic, etc), which artist, and which year. We thought to ourselves that a person that puts this much thought and attention into his questionnaires would put even more into the actual event itself. DJ services: Done. Many of our family has kids, so we wanted to add a little fun to the reception. We were hoping for a photobooth. We reached out to all of our potential vendors for leads and contacts. Mike Bell stated that he had a guy and if we opted to upgrade our DJ package, he would throw in the photobooth for free. Photobooth: Done. Next, our event coordinator asked us who was doing our "uplighting". We explained that we thought that lights were included in the package. She said that basic room lighting is included with the reception, but suggested we hire a vendor to do our "uplighting".... Grrrrrreat, let's add something new to our ever growing list. Again, we reached out to our potential vendors for leads and contacts. And again, Mike Bell came through in the clutch. He stated that for a nominal fee, he'll handle all of the lighting. Uplighting (whatever that is): Done. Lastly, our pastor was unable to make it to Hawaii because he already had an event scheduled for that weekend. We reached out to our event coordinator and all of our vendors for leads and contacts..... And lo and behold... Mike Bell himself is a wedding officiant. And he's not just qualified...... he's kind of overqualified. He circulated another detailed questionnaire about our relationship to help provide more insight and to make the ceremony personal. We checked out samples of his work on YouTube and were brought to tears. His words were extremely inspirational. Wedding Officiant: Done. Our daunting task of hiring vendors was cut in half because of the services of Mike Bell and his team. Fast forward to the wedding day.... Mike spoke such powerful words at our ceremony. It spoke to both of us and brought about tears of joy. He used a lot of material from the questionnaires to personalize his anecdotes. I felt like I knew him since kindergarten. He played all of the music from our extensive playlists and made some good executive decisions on his own. When he noticed that people weren't dancing to specific types of songs, he'd fade it and return to ones that brought people back out. He noticed that the Electric Slide brought a lot of people to the dance floor, so once things started slowing down on the dance floor, he switched back to the Electric Slide, followed by the Cupid Shuffle, followed by Cha Cha Shuffle 1 and 2. The dance floor was packed. And it was 25 minutes of non-stop cardio and sweat flying all over the place. The lighting was beautiful. I kept looking over at the bar and thinking to myself that our bar tab was going to be super expensive because the line was long .... all night. And then I realized that it was the line to the photobooth, which was adjacent to the bar. Phew, that was a close one. Mike and his crew provided a ton of fun accessories and props. The technology was top notch and self supported. You simply click on the button on the screen, pose, and wait for it to print. There was staff on hand to add paper and answer questions, but it was super easy to use. My nephews and nieces had a blast. In short--Mike Bell was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT and took our money without rendering any services. Called us "disgusting" for wanting our money back even though he was the one who cancelled on us 2 months before our wedding. Several of our vendors said they did not like him and that we were better off without him. Before COVID hit, I chose Mike because of his ratings, his charisma, and his willingness to decrease his price to match another DJ. When one of my vendors asked which DJ we went with we told her Mike Bell and she didn't say anything, but she had this look that made me think, "I wonder what happened for her to have that reaction." Our wedding was supposed to be in April 2020, but with the CDC gathering restrictions of 50, we decided to postpone. Mike said he would be able to do our wedding which we decided to move to September 2020. Of course things were still not good then, so we decided to wait a whole year in hopes things would be better in HI by September 2021. Come July 2021 we get an email from our coordinators saying that Mike may not attend the wedding due to him moving back to the mainland and not wanting to take any of the 3 steps to travel to HI. I emailed him if he would be able to attend and he replied it would be a good idea to get a backup DJ in case the restrictions wouldn't be lifted by September 2021. So 2 months before my wedding I frantically looked for a new DJ, this time going with a recommendation from our coordinators. Go with Crichton with The Perfect Wedding DJs. He literally saved us and is the kindest person who has a heart and cares for couples! I emailed Mike asking for a refund since he was cancelling on us in which he stated we would not get a refund. I couldn't believe that he wouldn't even offer a partial refund...HE WAS THE ONE CANCELLING ON US! I then wrote back stating we would take legal action in which he replied that our actions were "disgusting." Really? You're the one taking ALL of the money without rendering any services (again--he cancelled on us!) and then calling us "disgusting." Really goes to show the character of this guy. He then attempted to defend himself by saying it was for his safety (if it was, you would take any of the 3 steps to make it to our wedding)...but obviously it was about his greed. He wrote the date was a "courtesy date transfer" and nowhere in the contract did it say he needed to attend our wedding in September. Out of all of our vendors, he was the only one who used this excuse. Even if we didn't sign a contract with the other vendors of the new date, they still went by their word when they agreed to be at our wedding. This got me thinking that he probably had already planned to screw couples over which is why he didn't have us sign any contracts. If he really was planning on attending the wedding--and the contract is so important for him--then he would've made us sign a new one. He also attempted to make us feel like we missed an opportunity by writing that he would've (yeah right) recommended to us another DJ, but decided against it because he didn't want us suing these DJs. 1) You still have our money for services you didn't render, 2) Why would we trust your judgment after you stole our money? 3) So you were going to tell us last second of a trusted DJ when you had told us to look for a backup DJ? Bunch of BS. Do not go with Mike Bell. Completely unethical guy and not looking out for couples at all, only looking out for money. read more

Choose Mike now! We hired him as a DJ for our wedding at Kualoa Ranch on Sep 14th, 2019 and it ended up being a *torrential downpour* but he didn't skip a beat! His upbeat personality and song selection was perfect and everyone had a great time because of him. He didn't complain once and he was seriously drenched from head to toe. He helped me in so many ways from the beginning of wedding planning to the actual day and he was so incredibly knowledgeable so it doesn't surprise me that he does wedding coordination/planning services as well as being a talented musician. Trust me, you want to have Mike on your team for your big day. I can't think of anything that Mike could've done better. You won't regret it! read more

If I could give Mike 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat. Mike was our Day-of Coordinator, Emcee, and DJ for our wedding at Kualoa Ranch. That alone made me totally nervous because I've never met this man, but I was trusting him with ALL aspects of my big day. WE did have a quick 15 minute intro to go over our music sheet a few days before the wedding but that was it... full trust! Mike and his team did not disappoint! Mike offered to pick up a bunch of our centerpieces and decorations a few days prior to the wedding, this alone was a huge help as my family just moved off the island and I didn't have a big car to work with. The morning of the wedding my bridesmaids and I arrived to the ceremony location (we got ready on site) and Mike and his team was already there with music, playing setting up tables and chairs. His punctuality put me at ease so early in the morning. He assured me once I got there everything will be taken care of, if something goes a miss, you will not even hear about it. His team met with ALL of my vendors as they arrived to the ceremony, they placed all of my decorations out on the tables, set up my flower arrangements, the food, the ceremony site, the check in table, down to placing favors on the table. May I remind you, he was hired as a DAY OF COORDINATOR. They do not normally do this for you. He was not my wedding planner nor my decorator. But he took everything I needed to do head on and took it upon himself to do it. With no complaint. No questions asked. After getting married our bridal team hung out in the bridal room waiting to be announced to the reception. He went above and beyond and had Kelly (one of the assistance) stand outside of our door and brings us drinks and pupus when needed. He called him "Our personal concierge". After eating, we initially had paid for caterers to clear our tables, but they were misinformed and when Mike asked them to clear the tables, they responded "We're not paid for that". MIKE AND HIS TEAM, CLEARED OFF ALL OF OUR TABLES!!!! Again, above and beyond. He kept this party alive, when people requested songs he played them, if a song came on that not too many people were in to he changed it off. To top all this off, he even dropped off left behind things to our home the next day. Without Mike Bell, our day would not be possible! We are forever grateful for you and your team. read more

Mike Bell was unfortunately a big disappointment on our wedding day. First off, let me start by saying it rained all afternoon and evening during my wedding. As the bride, this was already hard to deal with, however right before my ceremony starts, iI find out that Mike Bell threw a massive tantrum about the possibility of his equipment getting ruined and threatened to storm out before the wedding coordinator told him no way! He was literally about to bail on the entire event (mind you he was the musician for my ceremony and the DJ for cocktail hour and the reception) This would have left me with absolutely no one had my wedding coordinator not stopped him. The ceremony for my wedding ended up getting moved to a more sheltered location because of the rain, it was originally supposed to be on the beach, but because it was so wet it was moved to a pavilion. Again, as the bride, this was tough, but I sucked it up and it ended up being amazing. Only one problem for the ceremony...Mike Bell DID NOT play the specific song I had requested play while I, THE BRIDE, walked down the aisle. I chose this song years and years ago because it is very special to me, and to my shock and dismay, as I approached the aisle to walk down....he didn't play my song. I was so devastated. Unfortunately there were several additional mishaps from Mike Bell too. My husband and I gave him a long list of song requests to play during our reception...he played them all while people were sitting down eating, so we didnt get to dance to any music that we had wanted to. Also, we had a Jewish wedding and I had given him a specific version of the Hora that I wanted him to play...and of course he did not. He played the saddest version of the Hora I had ever heard. Again, I was devastated. When my mom called to follow up on how disappointed we were with him, his maturity level did not improve. He yelled at my mom saying we were late on a payment so nothing was his fault and technically he didn't need to show up at all. For the record, we never knew we were late for a payment, all he had to do was send an email. As a family planning a wedding there are many vendors and payments you will deal with so its easy to have one get over looked. Of course we paid him in full several weeks before the wedding, but it almost felt as if he went into the situation already disliking us and not caring how our wedding went. This is a warning to all, Mike Bell may seem super upbeat, personable and easy going, but the second he gets in a bad mood he is a completely different person. So if your like me, and happy to catch Mike Bell in a bad mood on your wedding day, he will have no remorse for throwing in the towel and doing a so so job on what is the most important day in your life! Mike was our ceremony officiant and day of coordinator. Originally, I was looking for an MC to make announcements and to the keep the day of the celebration smooth sailing. He provided me ala carte options. Mike exceeded my expectations! He showed up early to ensure decorations and set up were executed properly. My mother in law said Mike was a pleasure to work with from the start. I was completely almost in tears of joy when I arrived at the venue. There was a mood I was trying to create and Mike and my bride tribe nailed it! Mike made some key decisions to ensure the music, layout, and feel of the venue was reflective of my husband and I. His intuition is a talent. It's evident that he is very experienced and professional. He was there to ease my anxiety and fix any small issues that arose- like the AC being broken!?! or putting the photo slideshow on a drive to show it last minute! He knew the solution before I could ask "can you please...." I wouldn't change a thing about the ceremony or day of celebration, largely because of Mike's help. Mike Bell deserves more than just 5 stars. This guy is funny, creative and very energetic. Made my wife and I very happy with how our wedding went because of him. Mike knows what he's doing and is very professional. If you want your wedding to go perfect, he's the man for the job. I was very pleased with how he kept the momentum going during the reception. Mike was such a pleasure to get to know. He was the DJ at my daughters wedding reception at the Elks Waikiki. He was well organized, communicated with the bride and groom before we all even got to Hawaii then met with them in person when we arrived. I would like to expose this company for what it really is. A joke! I have posted a review on every web page that this company has, to deter you from making the same mistake I did. Through investigation I found out that this person MIKE BELL who was supposed to be a key asset for my wedding was high! He absolutely was not on his game! Played the wrong songs could not adjust to the evening, poor transition through songs, played terrible song choices, could get his equipment to work, and pretty much was the joke of my wedding. Do not trust other reviews that were probably done by friends. Not worth $3,000! Yes, I'm the fool!!!!! to have trusted Mike Bell that blamed other vendors and had no accountability for his work. Mike Bell weddings Failed on so many levels. Mike Bell was supposed to be our day of Live entertainment (off key and embarrassing when he did play), Emcee, DJ, and day of coordinator. He assured us through many meetings that he was professional, could think on his feet and adjust to the conditions. Assured us that he had done many weddings before, that he understood our contract, with music selections, games, process of the ceremony and the reception. There was no music playing when the guests were arriving, once it started, there was so much dead air that guests were wondering if they were to early, dead air continued through the entire night and during the dance portion it just became terrible song transition. I had to confront him 3 times during the ceremony to get his team together and do their job. After standing around for 10 minutes before the ceremony, I had to tell his staff that we were ready to go for the ceremony and they said and I quote, "oh, am I supposed to let you guys know when to go"? Mike Bell screwed up the ceremony music, Played the wrong song for introduction and introduced us incorrectly as stated in our contract and performed the day before for rehearsal. Could not get his equipment to work, which he claimed was very expensive and there would not be a problem at all. He blamed the caterers for his ability to do his job, blamed the photographers video equipment. Great part of that is the Photographer did not have video equipment, and the equipment he did have uses a different frequency than audio speakers, and he has never had any issues with a professional DJ in his 15 years of photographing weddings. Mike Bell Failed to Perform the entertainment for ice breakers, and to play games for which table is to be next to go get dinner. I, The Groom had to call out tables to go get dinner while he struggled to get his equipment to work, (yes, the equipment he guaranteed us was not a concern) while his employees stood around awkwardly. Mike Bell and his employees were continuously looking at their cell phones and not creating a lively entertaining scene. Mike Bell Failed to perform the Bouquet giveaway dance. Huge part of the wedding which was very important to us and completely unforgivable. Took guest request, and failed to play them. We should be refunded for the absolute disgrace performed at our wedding. Save thousands of dollars and look elsewhere. We reached out to connect with the company professionally and we had to request a response since he did not care to communicate back. His response was basically autogenerated and heartless, taking no responsibility for his or his teams performance and continued to blame everybody else, Disregarded the fact that he breached the contract in more ways than he completed the contract.
