It was wonderful to work with DJ Neekz! He did a great job as an MC and DJ for our wedding reception. This is a long overdue review, but DJ Neekz provided the BEST vibes for our wedding! We were referred to him through Aloha Bridal Connections (ABC weddings) and my husband and I have not stopped recommending him to our friends since our own wedding day. He had a crazy assortment of toys like the cold sparks, great lighting, can really read a crowd and interact with all the attendee of the wedding. Really got everyone out on the floor dancing. Dj Neekz, Dom, was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. We hired him for our wedding at Cafe Julia this past July and there are so many things I'd like to call out. To start, he was entirely respectful of our music tastes and found a way to build on them in the best way. We sent very specific vibes of music for each part of the night (cocktail hour, dinner, reception) and he followed them so well. During the reception the crowd went through a couple different moods of house and hip hop and he took requests like a champ. We'd just tell him the type of vibe and he executed to perfection. Don't sleep on uplighting. If your venue is darker and/or you don't like the house lights at the venue, you want DJ Neekz. The system he comes with is amazing, you can pick whatever colors you want and they can even change and strobe with the music!!! So cool, totally gave our reception a club look. This also allows your venue to come alive in a way you may not have previously thought. We knew we needed this at Cafe Julia, since it's a little darker at night. It felt natural and inviting. Cold sparks. At first, we didn't want these as we thought it might be cheesy but everyone loved them. We used them for our grand entrance and whenever that BEAT DROPPED. It was so fun and he even gave me the remote for them later on in the night (too late probably) which made for some good laughs. Can't wait to see the photos with these going off. Communication was great. He likes to keep everything through his business platform (HoneyBook) but always got back to us from 1-5 days. Always super thorough and answered all our questions. Dominic was absolutely amazing at my wedding this past September! He is definitely the BEST DJ on the island! I really appreciated how well he read the crowd when deciding which songs to play when. He listened to our requests on the type of music we wanted to hear and made sure to play our favorites. We hired DJ Neekz for our wedding in August at Waialae Country Club. My husband and I live on the mainland and did most of out communication through e-mail. Dominic was so great with responding promptly and answering all questions we had. You can tell he loves what he does and really cares about making people happy because he went over and beyond for us, setting up full room uplighting, special heart lighting, and dancing in the clouds effect in addition to helping MC our games and playing songs. Dominic was great to work with! He also has the best prices around. I hired him for reception music, uplighting, use of his projector, and a monogram. When I walked into the ballroom for the first time, I was blown away with how the uplights transformed the place. Six months before our wedding, we hired DJ Neekz to MC and DJ our October Wedding Reception at the Hale Koa Luau Gardens in Waikiki. DJ Neekz has done many weddings, and are very competent in delivering a very successful and professional DJ experience for your event. For us, they absolutely delivered a fun filled, rockin' chee huu dancin' evening that everyone is still talking about (all 273 of them!)! He served as the MC for our reception program as well as DJ'd for our dancing program and everything was awesome! They were able to accept "online" payments through my bank for their services, which made it very easy for us. My advice to future clients: Hire early, at least 6 months out, to make sure they are available for your big day! Provide as much information as possible to help paint a picture of your expectations of the day! Finalize your reception program as early as possible. They can help you develop the song list for the reception program by recommending songs for wedding party introductions, new couple intro, first dance, cutting cake, bouquet toss, centerpiece games, speeches, etc... If you are using a wedding planner, the wedding planner should work with DJ Neekz for these details. What kind of music do you want? Corny chicken dance songs? Fun dance songs? Line Dancing? Country/mix rock and roll? Cocktail background music sort of stuff. Identify those up front... and also, identify those songs you DO NO WANT PLAYED! :) Make sure you feed them! It's only fair right? Handling song requests... this is important... because a song request may be on the "DO NOT PLAY" list, or it will not be consistent with your directives/expectations. Therefore, a plan in place would prove beneficial to handle this delicate situation. Either appoint a relative or someone from the wedding party to work with the DJ and screen those song requests, OR you can instruct DJ Neekz to gently let the guests know that they will need to stick to their playlist from the bride and groom, and will do their best to fit in their song. For us, we asked our guests to provide us a list of song requests (to get them out there dancing), but also let them know that their song may NOT be played because of time... We had a wedding website to assist with handling song requests... and told our guests, we will try to accommodate as best we can all of the song requests, and listed the 40 songs that we already had lined up... but sometimes, things happen and you will not have any control over it... regardless of what contingencies you have planned... just go with it... be prepared to cut it off early... and have fun anyway... :) I would highly recommend DJ Neekz to DJ and/or MC any wedding event.
