We hired David with Akahi Productions for my son's graduation party to provide live band sound and DJ services (with sound and lighting). After contacting numerous sound companies around Oahu, David with Akahi had the best pricing and options. He was very responsive and always responded to inquiries in a timely manner. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my original emcee had to cancel a few days prior to the event. I contacted David to ask about hiring an emcee and he offered to provide the emcee services at NO ADDITIONAL cost (Awesome)! On the day of the event, David arrived early with ample time to set up. I experienced technical difficulties when trying to set up my slide show, and David went out of his way to help me get the stressful situation resolved even though it was not his responsibility. The sound equipment he used was perfect for the event and I even received compliments from the bands that David did an excellent job providing sound for them. If you are looking to book a sound man for your next event, consider contacting David at Akahi Productions. You will not be disappointed in his service! Mahalo plenty to David and Akahi Productions! I will definitely be using them again for all my future events. read more

David Asing was our assigned musician for our wedding ceremony at Turtle Bay. He did not play the right song for the bride to walk down the aisle to. The bride even asked the camera man to tell him to play the correct song but the exit song was played instead. So disappointed! read more

This was the best entertainment for my party i ever had. David arrived on time and set up fast. My guest were so impressed with his talent. He sang the entire time. It was a great addition to our Christmas party and I will use David again next year read more

We hired David and Akahi Productions for our wedding at Kualoa Ranch. David played ukulele during our ceremony, provided audio for our ceremony and reception, sang and performed during the cocktail hour, and then DJed and MCed for the rest of the night! He also set us up with three amazing hula dancers and a surprise fire dancer and drummers, which really pleased our guests. We had thought of a doing a luau for our wedding but instead we were able to bring the luau to our guests, mostly because of David! Great value and great performances! read more

We had a destination wedding on Oahu's North Shore at the Turtle Bay Resort and David played for the ceremony and reception. He is a top notched-professional, very easy to work with and simply made our wedding amazing! I can't say enough great things about his singing and musical abilities. In addition, he is an all around nice guy! We are so grateful that we chose him for such a memorable and special day. I highly recommend David and can say with confidence, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for a professional and honest musician who will exceed your expectations, your search is over! Thanks, David for adding so much to my daughter's wedding and making it something we will never forget! Mahalo from California! read more

David is an incredible performer full of Aloha. He was easy to work with from our very first call. He took the time to give me all the information I needed, and offered a competitive price for his services. We hired David for live music at both our ceremony and cocktail hour, and as a DJ for our reception. His voice is so beautiful and incredible! Our guests told us how they loved hearing him perform live. I'll never forget walking down the aisle to White Sandy Beach or departing as Mr. & Mrs. to Over the Rainbow. He also continued to play music during some of our photos and marriage license signing- hearing him perform was a dream! I basically told him we wanted Jack Johnson, Beach Boys & local Hawaiian music for cocktail hour, and he nailed it. My only regret is that we couldn't enjoy his live music for more of our cocktail hour (since we were doing photos). Given the timing of our wedding, and that we were traveling from the east coast, we had a lot of last minute cancellations in our guest list and wedding party, and thus, changes to our intro to reception songs. I was worried about this, but David executed all of the last minute changes well! He kept our guests dancing all night, and he was open to any song requests we thought of through the evening. Lastly, he was very lovely to interact with during our wedding- he definitely brought the aloha vibe. If you want a DJ who can also perform beautiful live music at your wedding then David is your man! read more

We had our wedding in Waikiki last month and hired David Asing. He was fantastic on the day of, playing and singing beautifully for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner, and he was also an awesome DJ. Our guests really enjoyed having him there, and his prices are very reasonable. He followed everything on the timeline and did a good job setting the right mood for every part of the wedding. We would give David 5 stars for how great he was on the day of the wedding, except that leading up to it, we had a very hard time getting in touch with him and getting responses to questions. It had us nervous about whether he was even going to show up, or if he would know what was going on. Several times he responded to questions with one word answers that didn't seem friendly or professional. With the song that I requested for me to walk down the aisle, we asked him if he could share a little clip of it so that we would know what it would sound like. He said he had to learn it, and even though he had about 10 months to do it, we never received a clip and about 2 months prior to the wedding, he texted asking if we could pick a different song because he didn't have time to learn it. In the end, he did learn it and did a great job with it, but we had no idea what would happen until I was walking down the aisle. It was really difficult to get him on the phone to talk about the timeline even a few weeks prior to the wedding. Honestly, if we didn't have an incredible day-of coordinator who I knew would make sure David did things at the right time and who assured us that he would really deliver on the day of, we would have been panicking because we weren't sure if David cared at all about our wedding. We are super grateful for how wonderfully he played, sang, and performed on the day of our wedding. But we would have appreciated a more timely and professional communication, and a little more effort to plan with us. read more

David performed at our small beach ceremony and reception on Waimanalo Beach and we were very impressed with his quality and professionalism. Playing acoustically during the ceremony and then with a small speaker during cocktail hour and our meal, his playing added such beautiful ambiance to our day and we are very glad we choose him. He promptly communicated via email with me in Australia and arrived on time and played the entire time he was there without taking a break! Thank you David! read more

We hired David for our wedding last year, and we are so happy that we did! We read reviews about communication not being so great, and actually came across a review saying that although he doesn't get back to you, he shows up on the day and does an amazing job. We put all our faith into whoever wrote that review, and they were right. David sent us his song list, and we sent it back with our choices for the ceremony and reception. I had a few requests about the songs for our ceremony: to play a song acoustically for the bridal party, then change the song for my dad and I, and continue that song as the ceremony ended. We weren't sure how it would all turn out, but David was flawless. Our guests had so many compliments for David during the cocktail hour, and he surpassed all of our expectations. (Also got a lot of compliments from the single ladies--he's very handsome!) The thing that set him apart was that when he finished his set (is that even what you'd call it?), my husband had a surprise performance for me. He was going to play our song on his guitar, but realized that the sound wasn't working right. David helped him get set up, and held the mic up for the entire song. His "paid time" was up by then, but he went out of his way to help! That shows more of his character than anything else I could share. He was personable, friendly, professional, and the perfect entertainer for our wedding. If you're considering David for hire, don't get discouraged if you don't hear back right away. Trust that he'll be amazing, and make your event unforgettable. read more

We love David Asing! He and his ukulele provided such a warm, Hawaiian welcome for our wedding guests in September 2021. He is very friendly and talented, and we're so happy we chose him to provide the music for our wedding! read more

We hired David Asing to perform during guest arrival and our ceremony and he was spectacular! We requested Hawaiian music on the ukulele and all the songs he played were great. He brought his own speaker, mic and necessary cords. Our guests loved hearing him play and sing. It really set the mood for a beautiful Hawaiian day. He was easy to get in touch with and offered song ideas for our ceremony. Payment was a breeze. He showed up on time, was patient with our rain delay and dressed well! We sent him a list and he played exactly what we wanted. I loved walking down the aisle hearing him play "White Sandy Beach!" Mahalo, David! read more

HIRE THIS GUY! Seriously! We hired David Asing to perform for four (4) hours at our son's baby luau. He made the party great. We had no set of instructions or requests. However, He performed above and beyond our expectations. He showed up half an hour before the event to set up. People arrived early but since he was already set he started performing. He had an easy going style and knew how to read the crowd. His website has his song list and it was a very good mix of Hawaiian, contemporary, and easy listening. I have been to parties where the musician would take 1-2 breaks between music sets. Not David tho, he took about three breaks total, and that includes eating for less than ten minutes. We actually kept asking him to take a break but he was happy to perform. When he took a break he already had a playlist of music playing on his speaker system so we never had downtime with no music. David also knew how to read the room and work on the fly. Many times when we needed something announced (i.e. restroom locations, prayer, etc). He would fade off his music then announce it for us. There was a moment that really impressed me. My son was playing with a balloon in front of the stage while everyone was eating. As David saw my son playing he changed his music set to the Alphabet song. From there it switched to a medley of children's songs, ending with "If your happy and you know it Clap your hands". In the song, he added my son's name "Makana" into it. Saying "if your happy and you know it yell Makana!" The whole party got into it cheering my son's name. It was one of those moments that I as a parent will always remember. Some reviews on here mention his slow response time to emails and such. He would usually respond within 48 hrs for us. Also, you could always call him as well if needed. You have no idea how many people at the party were impressed and asked who the musician was. So if you're looking for someone that is very professional, happy to perform, and really wants to give you more than you would look for in a musician. Hire David. It will be money well spent. read more

David Asing is an incredible musician! We had several songs with specific word changes and starting points for our ceremony. He was flexible and ensured each song and timing matched exactly how we wanted it! He arrived early to the wedding and implemented beautiful transitions between each song. He has an amazing voice, played the guitar beautifully and he created a truly magical ambiance for our ceremony! We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a live musician! read more

David played ukulele for our wedding ceremony / cocktail hour. He arrived on time, dressed well and besides giving him one specific song to play for the ceremony, let him play as he felt would be best and he did a great job. He was also able to provide a battery powered speaker and mic for our outdoor beach ceremony. We also hired two drummers and a fire dancer through him for our reception. It was POURING when they arrived, but they were able to change what is usually a performance on an outdoor lawn to accommodate the covered pavilion and everyone LOVED it. The only downside was that the email responses were a little short/slow at times, but everything went perfectly when it came to wedding day. read more

My husband and I were extremely satisfied with our wedding entertainer, David Asing. He made the whole process of booking a musician/DJ very easy from New York City. He was easy to communicate with; his email responses were speedy and very straight forward. I requested specific songs for the ceremony and reception, made many changes months, weeks, days prior to our wedding and at all times, David responded with "not a problem." And truly, there were no problems whatsoever! David sang beautifully, and played his uke and guitar seamlessly during our ceremony and cocktail hour. We were also impressed with David's energy throughout the reception. We saw David smiling and enjoying our best man's speech. David also was very accommodating to our guests' song requests. I would recommend DAVID ASING to anybody who wants a flawless, stress-free, yet very entertaining party! read more

These guys rock! I didn't hire them but they were at an event that I attended on the Navy base. Very classy touch all around between the music, dancing, & fireshow. Highly recommend! read more

We hired David to perform at our parents 50th anniversary dinner on the North Shore last night. He was incredible. He also had two amazing hula dancers accompany him which made it a special family memory that we will never forget. He performed a mix of Hawaiian, pop, and Christmas songs which was perfect. My mother said it was as special as her wedding night, which was such a bonus. Thanks David for making my parents event pure perfection! read more

David Asing just provided guitar and vocals for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding ceremony and he was fantastic! David made sure to honor the bride's request for a specific rendition of the Beatle's song "Till There Was You" and did it perfectly! He sang all the requested ceremony songs beautifully! Kamuela Kahoano took over for the cocktail hour and continued with performing all our requested songs. He also has a beautiful voice and is a unbelievable performer! read more

Wow, where do I start with this review. David was absolutely FANTASTIC as a live performer during our Turtle Bay wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, as well as an amazing DJ during our reception! His personality and calm demeanor was so welcoming, as he bent over backwards to accommodate all of our requests. Nearly all of our communication with David prior to the wedding was from Australia, and we had no issue organizing anything prior to the wedding date. We sent through several requests of songs to be performed during the ceremony and cocktail hour, and he nailed every single one (different genres, by the way) we asked him to play. We even sent through a timeline less than 24 hours prior to the wedding, and he made sure that everything ran according to schedule! During the wedding reception, so many of our guests complimented him, and we would 100% recommend David to anyone looking for a professional, reliable and outstanding musician for their special event (wedding, etc.). He definitely made our wedding experience one to remember, and we cannot thank him enough for his time and energy! Thanks, David! read more

David @ Akahi Productions was recommended to me when I was looking for an acoustic, traditional Hawaiian band for our cocktail hour at our wedding. I'm a classical musician, so I'm very picky when hiring other musicians. David was incredibly nice and also mentioned that he had dancers who could come and hula with the band. I decided to have a 3 piece band and one dancer. They were fabulous! All of the guests are still raving about them. They were also incredibly sweet and played an extra song for me because I had missed most of their set because of pictures. I would highly recommend them to anybody! read more

David Asing was wonderful! Received a lot of compliments from the guests. He was so friendly and musically talented! He was the perfect choice for our wedding. Unprofessional and did not respond to my emails in a timely manner. I had asked David if he was available to play for an event & he finally responds, by emailing me, "Yah Can." Where do I start. David arrived right on time. He explained the music extremely well. You can tell he is an accomplished musician. He as a simple way to explain the music to a new beginning player. Unfortunately David was the worst wedding DJ ever. Not sure if it is a skill issue or just plain unprofessionalism...but either way for $200/hour he plain sucked. We were robbed. 1. He was late. 2. He did not know the song for our first dance. 3. He did not play songs we requested on our playlist. 4. He did not have the special program songs we requested. 5. He played several songs we did not want. Luckily all of my other vendors were great including the Jherard Miller Duo who played during our ceremony & cocktail hour, which we booked through David. read more

David is an amazing vocalist, he sang and played the ukulele at our wedding. It was beautiful. He is easy to work with and has a good song list. I only wished I could have heard more of his music (I was too busy taking pictures). Do not hesitate to hire him, he has a great voice! read more

My husband and I could not have asked for or imagined a more friendly, talented and professional DJ/singer for our wedding reception. David Asing is the absolute BEST! David provided acoustic guitar music and sang during our dinner hour, and so many of our guests came to us at the end of the night to tell us how much they enjoyed and loved the music. We also heard from multiple guests that David's singing and selection of songs added so much class to our reception. Working with David through our planning process was so easy and stress free. David played all of our pre-selected songs throughout our program, touched bases with our emcee so they were on the same page with the timeline of the program, and he sang our first dance song so beautifully. Our guests also had some serious fun dancing as he closed the night with greatest mix of DJ music. David not only had our friends on the dance floor, but our older family members too. Thank you, David, for setting the tone for the most amazing and perfect night and being with us as we celebrated our marriage with our most loved family and friends!! read more

Spoke with David to have him play for our wedding ceremony. He was quick to take payment but never followed up with me. I tried reaching out with no response. Come a week from the event I had to text him and ask if he was planning on showing up and he told me he had another commitment and would fill the spot with someone else who he could not provide any samples of. I lost faith in him and cannot run the risk of whoever was going to play not show up. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out who will be our musician for our ceremony. read more

David performed at our wedding and was absolutely fabulous! He played the guitar and sang before, during and after the ceremony as well as during dinner. He then switched over and dj-ed the rest of the night. Everyone- young, old, local and mainlanders alike were so impressed with him, people still are saying he's the best they've ever heard at a wedding. And he was a solo act! What's more, before the big day, David was easy to get in touch with and work with, making the stress of the event less so. I appreciate all that he did for us and will definitely use him again and recommend him to all of our family and friends. read more

My Husband Mark and I hired David Asing for our wedding at The Turtle Bay in 2011. David performed during our ceremony, and did an excellent job!!. During the reception he was accompanied by a second guitarrist where they both performed. David also DJ'ed the event. He truly is a jack of all trades, capable of keeping the whole ceremony running smothly and on time. But the best part is his musical abilities, he is a gifted musician with a beautiful voice, that keeps the crowd dancing and engaged the whole time. read more

David and this troupe of hula dancers are awesome! Very professional and quick when responding to emails. David played the acoustic guitar during the ceremony for my wedding at Turtle Bay. I requested a song not on his list and he played it beautifully - Love Me Like You Do. Great singer and he arrived timely. My reason for the minus one star is his response time to emails, which were a little slow and some responses didn't answer questions I had. But on the day of, he did everything according to plan. read more

We hired David Asing to perform at our reception. I would recommend doing so to anyone thinking about having their reception in Hawaii! He was absolutely amazing. Not only did he have a wide variety of songs. He was absolutely talented. So many people kept going on and on about how great he was after the wedding. Our 87 year old Grandpa didn't want the music to stop. He was having the time of his life. It was beautiful what he did for our reception. Absolutely amazing! read more

My husband and I hired David to perform at our wedding at Turtle Bay Resort after looking at a lot of other performers in Oahu. Besides his video online which swayed me from the beginning he was also the only person able to play ukulele when i walk down the aisle, guitar at the cocktail hour and DJ into the night. And at such an affordable rate too! We gave him guidance into songs that were requested by guests and some artists and genres as well and he did a great job at working everything into the day and night. He also made sure the kids at the wedding had a fabulous time. He was really the only one of our wedding vendors that we felt went above and beyond what was expected. I have to say, David is not the quickest to respond to email (i am based in Australia so this was the easiest way to communicate) but we got there in the end. Im so glad we went with our gut feeling and booked David. If you do, you wont be sorry - i promise! read more

David is amazing! He is extremely talented and kept my wedding packed with fun, lively music. I requested him to liven up my wedding with upbeat songs and he not only disc jockeyed pumping music, but he brought in lights and ambiance to make the dance floor seem like a night club. He is extremely reliable and eeeaaassyyy to work with! When it came down to last minute planning he was so flexible and went above and beyond to meet with me to adjust my wedding agenda. David was absolutely WONDERFUL at our wedding! To start, he always gave me speedy responses to all of my questions via email, (sorry about all of those, David!). At the ceremony, he added to the ceremony by playing soft music that blended perfectly into the background. At the wedding, David played the most beautiful music that fit every moment of the evening! At one point, our guests were blowing bubbles around the dance floor, and David transitioned seamlessly into the song "Tiny Bubbles". I was over the moon impressed with how thoughtful he was! Our guests constantly came up to us during the reception gushing about how wonderful he was and how I possibly ended up finding him?! My dad still comment's about how great a job he did! He was the talk of the wedding!! Thank you, David, for a beautiful evening! I am SO thankful that I was able to have you be a part of our day! You were simply wonderful! We absolutely LOVED having David as our live musician/DJ at our wedding reception!!! It was the perfect fit for our style, and we were blown away at how good he was! His live singing added a special touch to our wedding, and we received so many compliments on how much people liked it! In fact, I think we would have received even more great feedback if more people realized he was performing live - we found out that a number of people thought it was a soundtrack! We really appreciated how flexible and easy going David was during the process, too. We also thought his pricing was very reasonable. All in all, we are so glad we didn't go with anyone else because David was definitely the perfect one for our wedding!!! read more

We booked David and his team for entertainment throughout the course of our wedding. From start to finish David did an amazing job of making our wedding memorable. During the ceremony the live guitar music was fantastic. In fact, many guests told me after the wedding that the guitarist was sensational and added to the beautiful Hawaiian scenery. In addition to their great skill, David and his team were also very professional. One incident that proves how professional they are was when my wife and I decided to dance out of sequence. During this time David quickly began playing our first dance song! As the evening progressed we then had Hula and fire knife dance shows. Both shows were amazing and David even had some un-expected surprises. I was not aware that during the Hula show guests were invited on to the stage to learn some of the dances; this was great fun for the entire wedding party! Certainly, an activity not at many weddings! Another testament to the Hula dancing was the quality of the show. Later in our trip we visited the Polynesian Center and felt that David's Hula dancers had more talent, more fun, and more energy than the Hula show at that highly rated center. Overall, we were very pleased with David and his team. I would highly recommend any service his company provides. read more
