Kaarage (front), Sushi set (back)

Great sushi spot in New Dorp Lane. Haven't had sushi in a while and also didn't consider myself a big fan much. But this was great and so was karaage don. Quiet on Sunday, not many customers. Service was fine too.

This is the 4th Mikado branch I've visited, and the food is always consistent quality, and great atmosphere to enjoy your meal. 5/5 Karaage Chicken - so crispy and tender! 5/5 Set - Salmon + Tuna nigiri, Spicy Tuna roll, Eel cucumber roll

Great happy hour specials, good cocktails, fresh sushi and nice atmosphere. Service was attentive.

Takeout Review: Fancy sushi on Staten Island! Fish is fresh and tastes legit. The boxes and bags that it came in are also very sturdy. Even the takeout chopsticks are very good quality. The maki rolls are bigger than other sushi restaurants on the island.

Mikado definitely has the potential of being one of the best Japanese sushi/omakase-like restaurant in all of Staten Island. They took over Prince Tea House's beautiful interior which provides an elegant, warm, and welcoming dining vibe; definitely one of the prettier interior perfect for romantic date nights! They also have some very pretty and fancy display boxes for some of their selections, which is definitely aesthetically pleasing. The music is soft and comforting, and they have some very nice smelling soap and high quality toilet paper according to my wife, haha. The staff all appear to work very hard and is nonstop running around, but they seem to be understaffed for it took around 20 minutes for them to clear our table (as you can see in the photo the dishes piling up) and we also had to ask multiple times for a tea refill, which also took another 20 minutes. We were also misinformed by our server regarding the $99 Set For 2, where we were told it came with two sets of 8 pieces of sushi each, and one hand roll each, when in fact it was 8 pieces of sushi shared between two, and the only thing that was doubled was the tuna ball (which they were kind enough to switch to salmon for my wife who is breastfeeding, which we really appreciated), madai, and tuna sashimi; if we knew, we would've ordered two premium sets instead for a similar price. We were also told there would be an otoro piece but it ended up just being a regular tuna piece as evident in the photo. Although most of the fish were fresh, the ones we looked forward, the uni (sea urchin from California), was not and had a bitter/stinky aftertaste, which is a tell-tale sign of poor quality uni. What also disappointed us further was that the wagyu uni hand roll came with cold wagyu, which I guess is a personal preference but it wasn't freshly made. We do however really love that their hand rolls have seaweed that is wrapped with pull apart plastic to keep the seaweed fresh with optimal crispness, so five stars to that! Since we weren't full, we ordered the miso black cod bento box, which was also very disappointing since it was pretty mild in miso and didn't have the nice brown glistening glaze that most miso black cod has, and there were also 6 pieces of bones (as evident in the photo) where most professionally served miso black cod are served boneless. Thus, despite the dish being so pretty with delicious pumpkin puree, the main star of the show fell extremely short. Their matcha pudding and matcha ice cream were pretty good, highly recommend them! Nonetheless, the quality of their selection unfortunately did not justify their high price point in our opinion. Ultimately, although we were excited and have high hopes that Mikado will continue to improve as they work through their kinks of being a brand new restaurant, we were nonetheless disappointed by the misinformation, poor quality of the sea urchin, and the inconsistent service, which I understand will take time for them to develop their rhythm. Overall, the aesthetics of the restaurant and the presentation of the food, especially the hand rolls, are all on point and perfect as is, I just hope this review can continue to help Mikado improve and grow to become one of the best and most elegant Japanese restaurant in all of Staten Island.

The food is fantastic! The service was incredible, there was only one server and she was very attendant despite there being so many tables, she even managed to sing happy birthday to one of them. Also the music was super cute! And the decorations are so beautiful!

Super Bowl

The food is good and the service is also good. The prices for lunch are pretty fair. The environment of the restaurant is nice.

A great Japanese spot tucked away in northwest of Staten Island. I called in for a pick up and by…read morethe time I arrived, it was ready in a timely fashion. Due to COVID, the set up of the store included a plexiglass barrier at the door and a walkie talkie to reduce contact and ensure safety. The food was great and definitely will come back. Main: Chicken bento box: the bento box was filled with ample amount of teriyaki chicken over the rice. The California roll was generous with the ratio of crab meat to avocado. The tempura had an airy crunch to every bit. Also, the shrimp tempura was huge! The salad was paired well with the ginger salad dressing. Beef bento box: similar to the chicken bento the beef was generously over the rice and other components such as the California roll, tempura and salad were the same as the chicken bento. Drinks: Strawberry bubble tea: this is a different flavor that I get from usual. The drink had a sweet and milky flavor. The tapioca bubbles were really good it chewy and syrupy. Overall, this would definitely be my go to place for Japanese. Highly recommend this to anyone.

I love bubble tea & only reason I visit this place because of that lol. I can't eat their yummy…read morefood because it's not halal . Is very conveniently located near my area. My mom was saying she always seen people eating something black from a drink lol, what's that ! So I took her the other day so she can try some . She has a very particular taste when comes to food. I played safe & got her a coconut bubble tea lol, nothing fancy ! Thank God she liked it. So if she likes it then I can confirm that it was good . And I got coffee flavored one . Customer service could be better, store isn't that clean. They still have those plastic things in-front & I feel little suffocated. But I understand that they just wanna stay safe & there is nothing wrong in that .
