One of the worst moving experiences I have ever gone through. They were late because of an employee, so they brought on another worker to cover for the guy who was late, the owner said he would have 4 guys working that day and one would be on his tab when at the end we were charged for the extra guy. It took them 4 hours to load our furniture and boxes from the house. Scratches on my kitchen tables, desk and now other side tables which had been restored.... they had to leave mid move to do a delivery and the whole time all he could talk about was money instead of focusing on getting the job done. I moved with mighty movers last October from Vancouver to north of Whistler, and my move was more complex than usual, and almost long range at three hours each way. I got in touch with Bill at Mighty Movers on relatively short notice for my Sunday move and he was able to accommodate me. His quote was the most competitive, and a good 3x cheaper than some of the long-distance companies I contacted. The movers showed up on time and were able to fit everything into their 5 ton truck, despite the fact I kept dragging more stuff out of my garage, even when it seemed like everything was finished. Despite the 12+ hour day, the movers were professional to the end. I highly recommend Mighty Movers to anyone looking for a move in the area. read more

Where to even begin with this awful excuse for a moving company. The fiasco started with the owner changing the time of our move three times on the day of the move itself. After a stern conversation he finally insisted he would be here immediately. Let's keep in mind here that he lives in the same building that we're moving from. So he finally shows up looking disheveled and inebriated, does a quick walk around. Because all of this that we had to deal with before they even started the move, we asked for our deposit back. (On top of this he blamed his employee for being late, when his employee, who was very polite, told us that they were waiting on this other guy for hours.) He didn't think that asking for our deposit back was reasonable and said they weren't going to do the move and proceeded to storm off. Finally we got our deposit back but only after this guy set the expiration on the e transfer to THE SAME DAY. After this whole debacle he came back and said, "we could still do the move." Obviously we declined their services. We would not recommend this company to anyone in the future, and after seeing some photos from other people's moves and the damage. Value - Bill's rates were better than any other mover we talked to. We have LOTS of books, and stairs in our new apartment. Bill made sure we had the right number of guys to get the job done as efficiently as possible. 2. Timeliness - The team arrived on time and were ready to work when they showed up. They packed our place in an efficient manner, and got us to our new apartment as scheduled. 3. Professionalism - Whether it was Bill or his team, I felt they cared about our move and our business. The movers were friendly and courteous, and Bill worked with me to set timelines, and followed up after the job to make sure we were satisfied. I used Mighty Movers in 2013 for a move from Main Street to Kitsilano. I'm back on Yelp now because I can't see my previous review and we were more than satisfied with the service we got. The three guys arrived on time (early in fact) and were polite and responsible and got straight to work. It has been a couple of years, so some of the details escape me, but I do remember that they didn't break anything, they didn't scratch any walls, and they didn't make a mess. They laid down runners throughout the apartment to keep the floors clean. We were so happy that we used them again 6 months later to move some additional items (they offered a discount because we were repeat customers). The price they quoted was reasonable (I notice some people who wrote reviews didn't feel they were informed about the fuel surcharge and travel time costs, but we got a couple quotes and these charges seem fairly standard). I have no hesitation about recommending Mighty Movers based on my experience a couple of years ago. read more

Do not use them they will leave you hanging. Dealt with a guy named Sean. I had an appointment for 1030 they didn't show up when I called they said they were running a half hour late. Half hour later he's like I'll give them another half hour finally he said 1230 which was two hours after our appointment. 1230 came and no one showed up and they will not answer their phone. They kept ignoring my phone call definitely were declining the call. These guys ask for $100 deposit now I can't even get a hold of them for them to give me my money back. These guys are thieves. We had to do all the work ourselves which is ridiculous also I was late returning the truck because we were waiting on these guys. Completely unprofessional especially the fact that they declined your calls when you're trying to reach out to them. Do not use their service. read more

The WORSTE. Keep in mind I have moved exactly the same 2 bedroom apartment on my own with three friends OUT AND IN, in 3.5 hours. It took these guys just under 9 hours. Granted we have a move from Vancouver to Squamish, but regardless, take away 1 hour of travel there and back and it still took them 7 hours. 3 "professional" movers. Unbelievable. Not to mention the owner just complained the entire day and just kept saying how much we had and how full the truck was. At the end of 4 1/2 hours of loading I went out to take a look and the truck was loaded half way up, and all the way back. If it was packed properly it may have taken half the truck. I felt like I needed to jump in and help (and I did), as they were literally moving one item at a time and the clock was ticking away my $$. One of the three guys disappeared to empty the storage locker and came back two hours later (it was a normal sized apartment storage locker that contained 12 boxes and our winter tires). There was at least 15 minutes dead time in between each elevator load, and when the guy showed back up from the storage locker, he kept asking me what needed to go. What part of I'm moving didn't he quite grasp? I'm not sure. There was a lot of wandering around the apartment looking like he had no idea what to do and a lot of wanting to chit chat. On my dime. A quote of MAX $650 turned into $1000 and the moaning and rudeness was non stop - even after I found things broken and asked him how to file an insurance claim. He told me I would have to pay the deductible of $250 and that nobody has ever filed a claim with him before, like it was great service and he was shocked........how am I paying the deductible on HIS insurance when it's my things that are broken because they were not packed properly on the truck? I wasn't' going to write a review, but after 3 weeks, I am still finding broken furniture (we are also in the middle of a renovation, so wasn't able to check everything out as it arrived - but instead it was loaded into each room so that we could work around it and now as we are finally able to start putting the pieces where they belong, I just keep finding damaged belongings. My antique sewing machine has the pedal snapped off. The ironing board...broken legs. the Laundry airer, broken..... It doesn't stop. My BRAND NEW $1200 mattress completely soiled with oil and dir... my BBQ came off the truck and smashed on the ground, I went out to check that it still worked the following day, and both wheels are broken off...and no - It does not work and when I texted him to find out how to claim it, he gave me complete attitude and responded "how is it possible, the BBQ doesn't work. IT fell on me and I had to go to the clinic this morning". How is this my problem? I paid you $1000 to move and if you can't do it safely and professionally - well, it's a massive disappointment. I really wasn't in a position to be paying almost double what I was quoted. These guys don't even have their own trucks. They rent from U-haul. On top of that they didn't (clearly) pad anything. The update: After the move, the owner, Bill, asked for my feedback on the move, so I told him everything, the pros and cons. He reviewed his emails to me, and promptly admitted that he has forgotten to mention the two costs I discussed below (fuel charge and travel charge). Today, I got a nice cheque in the mail from him, refunding both charges, and a hand written note of apology. Could you ask anymore from a mover? Seriously, I am impressed, and will call them when I move next, and recommend them to whoever I know. Anyone makes mistakes, but it is how they react to their own mistakes that makes them who they really are, and this business has shown that they are great people. Original post (with 3 stars): Pros - Great workers, strong and knowledgeable. Got the move done in good time, with no damages or any major hiccups. Hardworking and capable workers. Cons - Two hidden fees not mentioned ever in the quotes: 10% surcharge on the entire bill for fuel, even if the moving distance was 2kms! This was later reduced to 5%, but still not at all reasonable given that this was not mentioned by the quotes provided by the owner, William Perisa. His quote also claimed there would be a small traveling time from their office to my old place. This distance was under 12 kms, but charged a full hour for the travel! Overall, the company was a bit shady for its charges, but had the best employees otherwise. read more

When I first inquired about moving, I had a prompt response from the owner Bill. In the very first email, he had provided me a lot of useful information about the costing and even suggestions to help make the move easier. There was a small hiccup on the day of the move but Bill stepped up and helped organize to get the crews going. I moved with Mighty Movers last week and they were fantastic! Bill and his crew were polite, considerate and hard-working. My parents were helping me move and we were all impressed with their professionalism. When any challenge presented itself (and there are always wrinkles in moving) they were flexible and helped to problem-solve. They even went so far as to say that if my futon couldn't be taken apart (it wouldn't fit on the elevator) they would carry it up the 5 flights of stairs! I had a lot more stuff than they anticipated and they just kept on moving it. They were careful with my all belongings (including a piano) and careful of the new and old apartment walls. I was moving at the end of April this year, and I had booked with North Van Movers. However, they were tied up and couldn't make it so, they sent a couple guys from Might Movers. I couldn't remember their names but they were really good - had a good attitude, humour, and were professional. They took the time to make sure our furniture was wrapped up to prevent any damages. I had a terrible moving experience with this company and would absolutely not recommend them. They showed up about 45 minutes late and took a ridiculously long time to move furniture and boxes from my apartment to the truck. I honestly did most of the moving myself, because they were so slow and seemed only to be able to take down one box at a time. Like one of the other reviewers said, they took turns while one person moved things and the other smoked cigarettes by the truck. If i hadn't been moving things myself, it would have taken hours to move my small one bedroom apartment and no doubt cost much more. They were rude to me, unprofessional and disruptive (yelling loudly to one another in the halls of my apartment building), and I later discovered they had broken a number of dishes. It was a bit of a nightmare and I would not go to them again. Moving is already a stressful experience and there's no need to make it worse with bad movers. read more

Mighty Movers moved us in two stages. Because our renovations were delayed, we had to move our possessions into storage and then, weeks later, from storage into the new place. It was difficult for us to give Bill much advance notice. Fortunately for us, he was flexible and accommodating. In fact, both moves were on a Sunday! We really appreciated Bill's ability to work with our schedule. So if you want to do business with a competent local firm instead of one of the big moving conglomerates, at a more reasonable cost, Mighty Movers should be your mover. And Bill is very reliable.
