Miel is a delicious farm to table restaurant in West Nashville and here is why it is one of our favorites in town: 1. Locally owned for years, they support local farms and also have their own garden where they grow herbs, vegetables and flowers. 2. The team set the stage for fine dining in a cozy and warm atmosphere. The service is incredible thoughtfully and every meal my husband and I had over the years was very special. 3. Our favorite dishes: grilled octopus, smoked carrots. Also, any duck dish at the menu is to die for. 4. No need for a special occasion to go there, they also have an amazing happy hour and some family style dishes you can order ahead as well! Highly recommend. read more

Menu was not current. So-so meal. Main course should have been an appetizer. Used to look forward to the Short Rib.........now it's only for 4 with an order ahead. Boring read more

I've been twice with my wife and left impressed each visit. Their menu changes, but their commitment to a quality experience does not. The cocktails and mocktails were excellent (I think the bartender's name was Peyton), the food Jason and Michelle make is experimental and exciting, and the service from Sean and the other staff was detailed and attentive without becoming overbearing. For what appears to be a dark and moody spot, we've only ever felt warm and invited. Well done, we can't wait to return read more

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Miel and we will be back. We ordered two entrees one of which was fabulous and one which fell short of expectations. The manager made the situation right and even gave a delicious piece of honey cake to take home. So impressed that they immediately took care of the situation and made our experience right because they want their customers to be happy. We are and we will return! Our wine order of Sancerre was absolutely delicious as well! read more

I made a reservation here for a romantic Friday evening in their exquisitely moody dining space. It's a decidedly chic, intimate interior design with warm lighting and dark wood tables. They charge a bit more to reserve within the restaurant, but you do get the added benefit of ensuring everyone is vaccinated and boosted appropriately (the host will check at the door). Service was impeccable, and we were seated slightly before our reservation. Our staff (calm, cool, and attentive) walked us through some of the menu offerings before we made some mouth-watering decisions. We began the evening with marinated olives, cultured butter, and sourdough. Everything was definitively made in-house, and the flavors were so bright. We followed with the Leeks Vinaigrette and Roasted Farm Cauliflower. I was a bit sceptacle when my husband ordered these, partly because I feel like every restaurant has done some variation of cauliflower recently. However, I was blown away by the balance of acid and fat in both dishes, especially the balsamic cippollini that paired with cauliflower: nothing short of amazing. For entrees, we ordered the Beet-Cured Salmon and the Cioppino (a seafood in a tomato-pepper stew). First of all, the salmon had such a perfect crust, it made an audible crunch when cutting into it, leaving only juicy, buttery flesh behind. I mopped up every single morsel of the Cioppino left behind with a second order of the house sourdough, it was that scrumptious. Considering the amount of food we ordered, you'd think we would leave something behind on the plate. We did not, given how beautiful everything was plated in addition to the explosion of flavors left on the table. We wrapped up with a shared slice of honey cake and a coffee. The honey cake reminded me a bit of a crepe cake or a German baumkuchen: tons of layered cake with creme in each crevice. It was the exact sweet note needed for this perfect dining experience. From the magnificent service to the beautiful food and artful ambiance, this is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had in the Nashville area, bar none. All I can say is, thank you, chef. read more

Owner Seema greeted us very warmly. The meal was out of this world with really fresh and innovative ingredients. She grows many of her ingredients on her property. We took a celebration wine (Jarvis single vineyard 2016 Napa Cabernet) for the dinner, and Seema recommended decanting which she did for us. She knew the producer and had visited the vineyard. Ambience was very nice with a mix of seating options both inside and out. Overall a 5 * dinner and overall experience! Can't wait to go back!! read more

Miel serves up artfully-presented farm-to-table food. One of my friends and I made dinner reservations here on a weeknight and were seated promptly outdoors in their back patio area. At the time of our visit, Miel was only doing outdoor dining which was not a problem for us since it was nice weather and we appreciated the covid times consideration. The back patio had a tent covering and socially distant seating. I noticed lots of fresh herbs growing in their garden and it was a nice atmosphere. Our server was not very friendly and appeared aloof which set the stage for our meal. When we asked questions she didn't respond in a helpful way and we could tell she just was maybe having an off night. I get that happens but we were easy guests and always try and be friendly but we didn't get the same in return. We started with drinks--my friend ordered wine and I ordered a cocktail which we both enjoyed. Their menu changes seasonally which I appreciate about the farm-to-table restaurants. For an appetizer we split the half shell oysters which were refreshing. We each ordered the scallops for our entree, which has potatoes and a purée. At a price tag of almost $30 we were expecting a few more scallops and veggies on the plate so we were disappointed by the portions. It was actually laughable that the scallop entree had only 2 scallops on it since I think that would've been more suitable as an appetizer. I will say though that what was presented was beautiful. Overall, it was a disjointed experience. I'd give high marks for atmosphere and the food quality and presentation. However, the service was strange and we both left hungry. I can't say I'd return unless I knew a few things had changed. read more

Miel Restaurant - Scallops - French Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

We were a table of 9 for a birthday celebration. We are shocked at the meal that was served. Not one person enjoyed their meal. Everything was extremely salty, tiny portions for the price and no flavor! I was warned not to try Miel by multiple people but thought to try it for my birthday anyway. Very disappointed and feel embarrassed. Do not recommend Miel at all! read more

At 5:30 on. Saturday we were the only 3 people in the restaurant. The staff was very nice. but it went downhill quickly for me. "$$$$"=EXTREMELY small portions. The cheese appetizer was the equivalent of 4 pads of butter for $18. I am still trying to figure out how "French inspired" turned ratatouille into what looked like tri-colored fettuccine noodles swimming in oil. The Duck Confit was so small it was mistake by the guest as an appetizer. The waitress was very nice but too present at our table side, which constantly interrupted our conversation. We will not be returning. read more

Very nice ambiance and fantastic service. Had the happy hour hamburger for $10. Not bad at all.

I've never been one to write a review but I was just really taken aback by my experience. I went to Miel for happy hour and unfortunately they don't offer any mock-tails on their happy hour menu. I was a little shocked by this but wasn't upset and happily just ordered a mock-tail from the regular menu. What I wasn't happy about was that this was how it was served to me. Literally half full. I asked the bartender if this was correct as the glass is missing half the drink! I could not justify paying $12 for a half full MOCKtail. Was pretty shocked by his reaction and push to get me to keep it. My advise it to either fill the glass completely or at least change the glass to one that looks full. Learned my lesson for next time. read more

Miel Restaurant - "full" mocktail - French Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

At the outset: We really appreciated all of the covid precautions -- they told us everyone on staff is vaccinated, two options for outdoor or semi-outdoor seating, little bottles of hand sanitizer at each table, masks required inside, etc. That all set the scene for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. The food was good but, with a couple exceptions, not great and for the portions I would say slightly "overpriced" though I know restaurants are having an especially hard time right now. We split three appetizers (pan-fried corn, poached shrimp, and truffle potato confit) that were all good but not particularly memorable. The entrees were by far the highlight of the meal: we split the duck confit, shrimp and clam pasta, and short ribs with risotto. Each of those was delicious and left us wanting more! We also split the basil peach cake, which was intriguing but unfortunately the cake sponge was really quite dry. Service was attentive but not intrusive. I would've preferred a slightly faster delivery of food, but they were quite busy so it's understandable. read more

I have been here twice with my wife, and both experiences were extremely disappointing. The server was nice but completely unfamiliar with the menu and was unable to provide a knowledgeable wine recommendation. This was surprising for a restaurant that claims to offer the same wine tasting classes to the public that they provide to their wait staff. The food was overpriced and underwhelming. We gave it two chances but will not be returning. There are too many good options in Nashville to ever consider spending your money at Miel. read more

I would rate this zero stars if I could. The food was overpriced and absent any flavor. We got shrimp as an appetizer which was stringy and clearly just out of a freezer bag. The menu has a dearth of good choices with very few options for those not craving bland and pretentious French food. They do offer a burger - but as the (terrifying) hostess informed us, burgers are only allowed in the bar area, which was empty. We left after the apps and had a great meal with great service at the Geist. read more

We had a great meal. We got their before going to a show. The service was great. When we asked questions such as how they fermented butter or got fennel pollen for a salad, we got a great repsonses. We were never rushed. The salad was fresh, the lamb ragout had this wonderfully lightly mint flavored polenta that went really well togehter. The palova was deconstructed with fresh cream and apples and we finished dinner with French Press Coffee. read more

My group and I are all local Nashvillians but none of us had ever been to Miel so we decided to give it a go! We all had a wonderful experience. The food was incredible and there was so much on the menu that we wanted to try which always makes ordering fun. Everything tasted super fresh and unique and we all left full and happy. Troy was our server and he was super knowledgeable about the menu and ensured we had a great experience. We sat on the patio and I highly recommend that if the weather permits. Miel Restaurant - Front entrance and sign - French Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

Really excited to try, but overall disappointed :( 1. Misleading When we arrived, we learned that Miel required proof of vaccination to dine inside. This in itself was not the problem. The frustrating part was that nowhere on their website was this information published. So because we weren't expecting this, we didn't bring our cards and ended up spending a good 10 min looking through our phones to see if we had saved pictures of the cards. Thankfully we finally found the pictures, which when we showed the host, he barely looked and definitely did not even look close enough at the names. If we would have known up front (i.e. before we arrived), we would have brought the physical cards, would have saved time and our night would have started off better. Happy hour - also misleading! We made our reservation for 5:30, so that in addition to the regular dinner menu, we'd be able to try the happy hour menu. As we were seated, we then learned that happy hour was only valid at the bar or on the patio. Again, this in itself wasn't the issue! It was just super disappointing that this information wasn't published on their website and there would have been no way for us to know this ahead of time. If we had known, we definitely would have made a later reservation. 2. Food TL;DR - taste was just okay, small portions not worth the high prices. We started with a few signature cocktails, which were good, though nothing special. We ordered the crab cake and collard starters. The crab cake was good, though we've definitely had better. Just as an fyi, it only came with one small crab cake. The collards were bland. For our entrees, we ordered the short ribs and pasta duck confit. The short ribs were just okay, kind of boring. The pasta duck confit was super salty! We decided to skip the dessert. So overall, we definitely left still hungry. 3. Service - we did not have any issues with the service. :) read more

Wanted to like this place more! Had kind of rude customer service and one of dishes ordered was heavily over salted. Ambience was nice

Worst service experience ever. Ignored for 30 minutes (owner came to offer water and take drink/app order at this point), drinks came 45 minutes in, apps 60, dinner after the 2 hour mark. Only reason we received water, drinks, or food was after a member of our party sought out a staff member each time. Owner was spoken to again after 2 hours. Food was good, but cold. It was all eaten because we were starving. No food was comped and the 20% service fee for a party of 5 was included. No acknowledgment or apology to our table was made. Would never go back or recommend to anyone. read more

We went to Miel to celebrate our anniversary and we're overall pretty pleased with our experience. We started with their fermented butter and bread which was excellent and we ordered scallops and gnocchi to share. The scallop dish was not good in my opinion. I actually spit it out. I'm not sure if I've ever spit restaurant food out in my life. These were disgusting. They were gritty and the flavor was off. Note that it is $28 for TWO scallops so I was expecting these scallops to knock me off my feet. Needless to say, they were inedible to me. My husband ate his but didn't love it either. The veg that came with it was all right but I avoid the scallops at all costs. It will be a while before I can eat them at all. The gnocchi however was delicious! Everything about it made my tastebuds sing. I was very impressed with the flavor combination and how interesting the dish was as a whole. 10/10 would get the gnocchi again. Our service was superb and frankly, that's what makes my review a 4 star instead of a 3. Thé service was exceptional from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. It seems like everyone who works there is highly trained in service and I was impressed. The service isn't good, it's fantastic. We would come back. read more

My partner and I went out for a nice dinner, choosing Miel based on recommendations from friends and family. We had a reservation for 7:45, and arrived a few minutes early. We were greeted by Seema, the owner (who is freaking awesome!) and immediately loved the atmosphere and intimacy of the restaurant, perfect for a date. Seema also later checked on our table personally and chatted with us for a little while. The service was fantastic. My partner and I are both major foodies, so we spent some time going over the entire menu with our server before choosing. She explained every dish we asked questions about and the two of us ended up sharing four different appetizers and one entree. It was fantastic!! The flavors are so bright and fresh and feel seasonally appropriate. They coursed out our appetizers without us asking them to, bringing first our bread, butter and caprese, then the ratatouille and the escargot. For our entree, we got the "duck three ways," duck breast with cassoulet. All of our choices completely blew us away. For dessert, we got the honey cake, and they surprise you with a little taste of the restaurant's namesake, miel (honey, in French) at the end of the meal. We left completely satisfied and soooo happy. It was a banger of an evening, and we were raving about the experience in the car all the way home. read more

We went here this evening for a dinner with our parents before getting married this weekend. The server was bordering on rude at times when telling us what we shouldn't order because it was redundant, but also helpful with my allergies. The food was not bad, but not worth the cost. Some dishes needed salt so badly we had to add it ourselves and again for the cost I would hope they could season it a bit better. Overall disappointing experience- I think they can do better and hope they do- it's a cozy spot that should be packed on a Friday. read more

So much for so little. The deal is no good. Dinner for two, with one beer, tax and tip ran up to $130. The entree would be fine as an appetizer. Really good duck, but a (literally!) two-ounce serving is simply mean, given the cost. My wife's risotto would be OK as a side, but hardly rich enough to qualify as a main course. The bread was burnt. Dessert was meringue, whipped cream and about an ounce of fruit - not bad, but nothing one could not easily do at home. Here in Nashville, there are offerings of equal quality - but served up in portions that will leave you feeling that the bargain is fair. Among these: Etch, Etc. Barcelona, Lockland Table, Rolf and Daughters. Certainly not a comprehensive list - but enough to allow fair comparison for quality and value. With our best regards to the fellow foodies of Middle Tennessee! read more

The restaurant put my group in 'the barn' next to the restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. After having made the reservation in advance And not mention of a seating problem we we denied seating on the inside and patio. We sat in a barn with tables where we swore there was cat pee somewhere as it is open to the street. The owner was rude and the food mediocre but over priced. Not worth the money and effort. The owner has no clue about what she is doing. I am not going back and do not suggest anyone go there. read more

Left us sitting for 30 minutes. We were not even given water. And the restaurant wasn't full.

If there was a 3.5 option that would be my score. We sat in 'The Barn' part of the restaurant - ok but not very interesting or intimate for this type of restaurant. Food was good but seemed overpriced for what we got. I ordered scallops (@$36) and my plate had one sliced radish and 3 small scallops. That's it - no green vege or anything else. Guess that's why they were really pushing the 'sharables' but I expected a more robust offering for that entree price. Service was ok - have had worse and have had better. Honestly the main concern is the small amount of food you get for the hefty price tag. The four of us agreed that we probably would not come here too hungry. read more

Horrible service and undercooked food. If you go bring some funds and expect to go out to eat afterwards.

After a string of disappointing dining experiences at other restaurants at a similar price point, Miel was a breathe of fresh air. This has been my favorite meal in Nashville in 14 years. My wife and I went to Miel to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. Our server was both our server and bartender, which for a slower and quieter night, was quite quirky. They serve a mean margarita! Between my wife and I, we ordered 8 dishes not a single one lacking in anyway. We started out with the cheeseboard and schmaltz for our bread. Delicious. Then we followed it with the peach salad, truffle cabbage, and pork ribs. All are fantastic but a special HUGE shoutout to the cabbage. Seriously, with the sunflower butter, it's next level good. Who knew that peach and basil were a match made in heaven. Never had anything like that in a salad before and it was delicious. Pork ribs are fall off the bone amazing! Highly recommend. For entrees I ordered the braised pork shoulder. It is amazing and has kind of more acidic bite that compliments the fatty, pull with a fork it's so tender, pork. My wife ordered the sweet corn pasta. She savored EVERY bite and contemplated getting another dish to take home. It was that good! To end our perfectly satisfied night we ordered a profiterole to share since we were both full! It. Did. Not. Disappoint! Perfect ending to an amazing evening. Service: professional but personable. Food pacing: perfect, enough time between dishes to enjoy each one to its fullest Food itself: Amazing! Again, 8 dishes not a single one lacking in any way. Atmosphere: quiet (at least on our night), and intimate Highly Recommend! read more

5:30 - 6:30 Happy Hour. I haven't had dinner here. I haven't luxuriated on the patio during the summer. I haven't tried the decadent desserts. What I *have* done is take advantage of the happy hour. For an hour, right when the restaurant opens, you have carte blanche access to spirit + mixer, a red and a white wine for $5. The bar isn't huge so don't go crazy expecting craft cocktail magic but the wine list is well curated (so whichever red and/or white is on the menu, it should be a winner) and the spirits are quality (so you don't need a lot of mixers to muddle the taste). Having drinks at the bar definitely piqued my interest for a return visit. The bartender had fun conversation and the locals I met throughout the night were interesting, colorful and classy (seriously; no sarcasm). Had the west side of town been on my radar when I moved back to Nashville, I could have seen myself setting anchor here. As for happy hour bites... not so much to choose from. On the Wednesday I was there, we had a choice of soup or olives. My buddy and I chose the olives. I like olives but if I am going to enjoy half-off beverages, I want something a bit more substantial to fill my belly. But, I suppose, that's the point: Miel isn't your college dorm. It's a neighborhood bistro. It's gauche to come here, try and guzzle down as much happy hour booze as you can and go about your way/day. You come here, enjoy happy hour with a drink and conversation like proper adults. I get it. Slowly, I get it... but I get it. I'd like to come back for dinner... after going full tilt on happy hour (#habits) and making sure that I had a rideshare to and from. read more

Dinner at Miel was fantastic! The food was yummy and beautifully presented. Can't wait to come back!

Our meals were incredible. My friend and I both started with the green salads. I had the pork tagliatte, and my friend had the ciopinno. Both were FABULOUS. We split the pavlova for dessert. It was woefully short on strawberries. We asked for more, and received a few extras. Disappointing. Our server was pleasant, but very inexperienced. She fumbled opening the wine, and seemed confused how to serve it. I chock that up to the current labor shortage, but hope she receives more training quickly. We spent over $200 for the meal, tipped graciously, but really! read more
