Everybody I know loves their Granny's collards best, but I swear that these are truly outstanding. The werewolf was great, I really liked the slaw/collard/mayo synergy, with a generous amount of roast beef. Service was great today, so I am assuming my previous visit was the exception. Every time I pass through (or near to) Columbia, I shall be back.

Ollie and Finn's Counter…read more Tucked away in a little brewery near the Columbia square is this little sandwich shop. I have been recommended this place by multiple people throughout the years and finally got a chance to give it a try. (Well, I say that but mainly because I go to Gold's Deli everytime I'm in Columbia. So it was time to share the love) They have a pretty large menu of various sandwiches, I wish I had grabbed a picture of them. I asked the cashier if she had to pick one sandwich which one would it be, she gave me a list of about 3 that all sounded amazing. The fourth she suggested was if you're overwhelmed or unsure just get the Italian. I LOVE Italian sandwiches so that is what I ended up with. Everything here is fresh so I waited about 5-10 minutes for my sandwich to get made. I will definitely be trying out some of the more adventurous creations next time but this was so good. This Italian has a freshness to it that I have a hard time describing but their olive oil blend is lovely, the olives, banana peppers and lettuce helped with that fresh taste as well I'm sure. The bread is incredible! It taste house baked, crisp outer crust with a pillowy interior. The house chips were also really good and salted perfectly. The inside is cool, it's a microbrewery and there's subtle like alien themes throughout? Overall can't wait to try it out again, stop by if you're ever down in Columbia!

The restaurant itself is in an old industrial building, the CAB, that has been a number of establishments just in the past 4 years. I don't know why most places can't sustain themselves in this location, but my guess is that they are hidden and if you don't know they are there, you'll never find them. The menu is limited to about an about 8 or 9 different sandwiches. The matador is a good, traditional roast beef sandwich. Again, it's not going to knock your socks off, but it's good. Sides come separate. Here's the rub though, the couple of times I've been in, nobody has ever been very friendly. You go into Gold's or the BBQ place, you get a warm welcome and good conversation. Here, it's dark, industrial, and eh, "what do you want for lunch" kind of attitude. I'm not knocking the place. It's a decent lunch, but they need to "wow" their customers so they tell people about it because of its hidden location. I hope they do well, but somehow they need to do better than what's been a revolving door of lunch counters and coffee shops that have populated the Columbia Arts Building. The Pepper Popper Burger was outstanding--juicy smash burger patties topped with spicy cream cheese, bacon, jalapeño poppers, and hot pepper bacon jam. It hit that perfect balance of savory, smoky, sweet, and spicy without any one flavor overpowering the others. The burger was cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor in every bite. The crispy Brussels sprouts were a pleasant surprise and paired really well with the burger. I do wish they had some sort of sauce to dip them in or to pour over. They were certainly good on their own. The pork rinds were fresh, light, and crispy--not greasy at all. They made for a great appetizer and were perfect for sharing. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, the food came out quickly, and everything tasted fresh. Eighth & Main is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back!

The food is definitely made fresh and to order vs. being fast food. The dining room is large with lots of tables and booths. There are a few more near the entrance too. I ordered the Fungus Among Us. My husband had the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and thought it was pretty good. My daughter had the kid's meal with a corn dog and fries. She enjoyed it. Overall, this is a solid spot if you're in this area and craving a burger.
