I live 5 minutes away from the Woodbury location so, a couple of years ago when I was looking for a mother of the groom gown for my son's 2022 wedding, I naturally stopped in. I told the older woman who works there that I was interested in a certain designer. She brought me one gown by said designer and by the expression on her face I could tell she didn't approve of how it looked on me. I'm 5'8, 130 lbs. and, for a woman my age, I have a pretty good figure. She didn't bring me other dresses and seemed disininterested in me. When I took out my phone and asked her to take a picture of me in the gown, she said photos are not allowed. What?! What century is she from? You can find photos of any designer's collection online and most boutiques carry the same styles. It was not an exclusive to their store! I ended up buying a different gown from the same designer elsewhere. Now my younger son is getting married and I definitely will not be returning to Mieka. Judging from the reviews, the Greenvale store has better customer service. If you must, go there, and avoid the Woodbury location. read more

My experience at Mieka (Greenvale) was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Karen made the entire process of looking for a "Mother of the Bride" dress effortless. She listened to my needs and expertly selected several gowns that worked for me! At no time did I ever feel pressured. She was absolutely AMAZING! Mieka was recommended to me as a place to buy a dress for my sons outdoor wedding. (Woodbury location) I made an appointment to shop and the experience was everything I had hoped for. Patti worked diligently to make sure I tried on everything in the store that could help me look beautiful for my sons special day. She accessorized the dress and even went to Jildor and helped me choose shoes. I could not have asked for a more wonderful experience! Later she helped me coordinate some new sportswear all on sale. Woodbury location. Would give this experience zero stars if I could. My mother went here to get a dress for my wedding. She purchased her dress at a designer trunk show. The designer said that there would be no alteration charge and wrote it in my mom's receipt. Thank goodness she kept her receipt because what happens next is almost too ridiculous to believe. When she went in for alterations, the alterations went well, but when she went to pick up the dress in its final form and pay for it, the owner/manager insisted she pay an alteration charge. My mother explained the situation and there was no alteration charge and he challenged her to find her receipt. Feeling frazzled and upset by this, she requested that the owner look in his files and find the receipt as she knew the designer had written for the fee to be waived. He then disappeared into a back room for almost 10 minutes and sent out an associate with a cell phone photo of a receipt. The photo was zoomed in to show an alteration charge. My mother zoomed out of the associate's photo and it was someone else's receipt! It's almost laughable how insane this story is. My mother then found her receipt and the associate rang her up with no fee. The owner came out and watched the transaction without saying a word and then he left without an apology or any acknowledgement of the blatant scam he just attempted. Dishonest, corrupt practices. My mom has been shopping at Mieka in Greenville for several years because of the fantastic selection of Formal wear and designer clothes. Karen gives fantastic service to her customers and is very good at selecting the right dress or outfit for the right person and occasion. This is my mom's go to for special occasion outfits, work clothes and formal attire. Karen's selection is wonderful- not to mention her fantastic selection of accessories and costume jewelry. WOODBURY,NY LOCATION: I went in to shop at this location. I am a plus size woman. From the moment I walked into the store I was treated with complete disdain. I was made to feel that because of my size and appearance I had no business being there. I can afford to shop where I please and trust me they will not see one penny of my money. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! Woodbury location. I too am an above-averaged size woman. Purchased a custom ordered dress for my son's wedding. I was measured and led to believe there would be minimal alterations. Gown came in huge and needed so much expensive work. Very disappointed. Not once did owner Ken explain or apologize. I feel I was put off because I wasn't a shop regular. When I finally got dress the Tuesday before the Friday out of state wedding it appeared done. However the straps sewn on to hold my bra did not line up causing me to use a safety pin. The Woodbury location was recommended to me but i have the say the experience there has been exasperating. No one ever knew what they were doing. The only good experience I had there was the very first time I tried on dresses. I waited an hour with a sample dress on waiting for the person who would take my measurements. It made me uneasy that I had to pay the whole amount up front. When I went for my first fitting I had to wait for the seamstress to come in from home. No one knew where my dress was. I was very nervous I would get the wrong dress (it was right). Now I am scared to see how much the alterations will be. I hope its worth all the trouble! read more

Woodbury Location. My first experience with the store was by phone when the second question they asked me was how much I wanted to spend. When I told them, they were ok continuing the conversation with me. Mieka was by far not where I wanted to go to get my dress for my daughters wedding, but as they were having a trunk show by the designer I thought would work for me, I had no choice. All I can say, is if you need to deal solely with a salesperson from the store either shut yourself down by their snide comments or don't go there. Thankfully 90% of my interaction that day was with the designer who was fabulous. I went back a few weeks later to see if they had received the swatches I had been waiting for figuring if they had come in to the store they wouldn't need to mail them to me. I explained to a different saleswoman the reason I was there and I said 'I didn't mean to be a pain'. Her response was: 'we expect that from our customers', and then she chuckled. I chose not to respond and waited for my daughters big day to be over to write this review. The experience reminds me of the scene in Pretty Woman where the salesperson did not want to work with Julia Roberts because they felt they were better than her. Would I recommend Mieka? No. There are other stores if you have the time. read more

I have been shopping at Mieka for years. I just bought my third gown for my own childrens' weddings, 2, I bought at their trunk shows and the other one I found in the store. I have also bought dresses and jumpsuits for other occasions, their merchandise is unique compared to other stores. The staff is amazing, they try to find the perfect outfit that meets your needs and they are honest and very helpful. The staff has been there for years and they know their product and customers. There's all price ranges and they never make you feel that you should be spending more than you are comfortable with. The owner, Kenny is at the store and is very friendly ensuring that your experience goes well. Having the dressmakers there on site is a big plus, whether they are doing the alterations or giving their opinion on what you can do to make sure you will get the perfect fit.
